May 26, 2010--5/26/2010 10 Night Mediterranean

Since I am in an accessible cabin, I don't think that there will be any upgrades for me. Thanks for the pixie dust.

I thought all categories had accessible cabins. :confused3 I know that makes for less selection so I'm sending you extra pixie dust for an upgrade!pixiedust:pixiedust:pixiedust:pixiedust:

BTW everybody, I called today to add the aBD add-on and it is SOLD OUT!! I was a bit surprised. I am on the waitlist.

Wow!!! I think there was only one family mentioned on our thread that is doing ABD. I'm sure it will be a fantastic experience! Hope some spots open up for you! Here's some more pixie dust! pixiedust:pixiedust:pixiedust:

Good Morning All! I hope everyone had a great weekend. The weather here in Maryland is beautiful! We have narrowed down what we want to do in each port now we need to find private tours. We did get a private disability tour that will take my mom and her scooter in Rome, great price too. Today I am going to book our flights and before and after hotel stays. I get butterflies each time I think of this cruise!:butterfly

I am not holding out hope that the ABD will open up. However, one never knows.

Just poking my head in here to say that DCL told me that the only ABD that isn't sold out is the Aug 28th cruise. I was surprised to hear that. I'm doing the ABD add-on on the May 15th cruise, and we have a waiting list for ours, too. Seeing as the penalty date for refunds has long since come & gone, my guess would be that the only way the ABD's would open up would appear to be if someone needs to cancel for unforseen reasons, or they get *so many* people on the waiting list that they decide to open up a second group. Not sure if they'd do that or not at this late date... it would seem kind of late to make those kinds of arrangements.

Sayhello

Wow! After 1 and 1/2 years we are finally getting close. LOL!!

Just checked our ressie and received our room # today. We were a cat 4 gty and are assigned 8094. Great location right next to the secret stairway to Topsiders on Deck 9 and the Secret deck on Deck 7 aft. Does have a solid wall veranda (noted by the * next to the room # when you are looking at the deck plans). I imagine they are starting with the higher gty's and working their way down, maybe? Good luck to everyone on scoring some great upgrades!pixiedust:pixiedust:pixiedust:

Just looked at that secret stairway again between decks 8 and 9 aft. Does not look like it continues down to 7 or below, at least not on the deck plans shown. Does anyone know for sure? :confused3

I was hoping you'd be closer to us down in Steerage so it would be easier for Jocelyn & Kaitlyn to hang out together. :sad2: But congrats... sounds like a terrific spot! :dance3:

So who is entitled to an upgrade? I know you've explained this before, but I was wondering if we might get moved. Right now we're in Cat. 9 on Deck 2 with an actual cabin assignment, and I have no reason to think we'd get upgraded. But who knows?????

Anyone could get an upgrade unless they specifically asked not to be moved. We booked a cat 4 gty and got a 4. All the suites are sold out so no upgrade for us. :rotfl: And it is extremely rare to get a free upgrade to a suite! Yes, you could possibly get moved to a veranda. Or you could stay where you are. We got upgraded on our first cruise to a veranda! The ship is not full so expect upgrades for many! Some people have been on multiple cruises and never got upgraded. I think the fact that the ships are not full are going to see more upgrades than usual! :goodvibes

As far as your cabin number, what does GTY stand for? We have a standard room, cat. 12, #GTY. We had been told we might not find out our room number til we get on board. Is that normal?

GTY stands for guarantee. You are guarenteed at least a cat 12 room or higher. BTW, the kids and I stayed in a cat 12 (room 2013) last June and we loved it! There are only 13 cat 12 rooms and they are located on deck 2. You can look at these deckplans to see where rooms are located. http://www.wdwinfo.com/wdwinfo/cruise-new/cr-deckplans.htm
DCL may have sold 100 cat 12 GTY rooms in order to fill the ship, knowing that they will be upgrading some people. Any parties of 4 who booked a cat 12 GTY will automatically get an upgrade since the cat 12's only sleep 3 (there is no pulldown bed from the ceiling). Keep an eye on your DCL reservation. Once they assign you a room #, it will say cat 12 followed by a room #. That room # may be a higher category. Upgrades have been all over the place on the eastbound and spring Med cruises preceding us. I would think you would get your room # when they start assigning all the other cat 12's. I've not heard of someone not knowing their room before boarding. If DCL's pattern of assigning rooms goes by the previous cruises, you should be seeing room assignments by this Friday or Monday.

sinnika.....as usual you are a wealth of information! Thank you so much! It will just be my husband and I. We honestly don't care if we are upgraded...we got a good deal on the cruise! Any upgrade would be great but no big deal. We figure we aren't in the rooms other than to sleep and get dressed. We did see the position of the rooms a couple of weeks ago and they looked like in a good position, so we are ok with that.

Thanks again for helpful info.! 7 WEEKS TO GO! WAHOO! :cool1::banana::yay::cheer2:

I just checked our cruise plans and it looks like we were upgraded to a cat 5! It's essentially in the same location on the ship just one floor up. :cool1:

Congrats!!!!! Would you mind sharing what your original category was for?

Hi everybody,

Since we are starting to see room assignments on many of the GTY cabins, please contact me with your new room #s. That way I can put the correct room numbers on the FE lists. (joceysjewels@gmail.com) or you can reach me through the Facebook page.

Thanks so much!
