May 25, 2012 - Magical 8-night cruise - NYC to the Bahamas!

Being a newbie, even if I pay in full, I can't book spa or any excursions right??

If it's your first cruise you can't book til the booking window opens. I think it is 75 days prior for first time cruisers. Unless you are in a concierge cabin, they get to book at 120 days.

:( wahhhh...

Might as well not pay in full then :) no advantages in that hehehe
Might as well keep my money or lack of.. in the bank! :)

Okay, off to see some NYG Football!!

GO GIANTS!

NYC Pier parking?

Anyone?

Got it -- $30.00 per day.

Called a van company for 10 people -- $201.00 one way, eek!! :)
lol

Hi everyone :wave2:

I booked the Kona Cafe for breakfast at 10:15am. I'm going to try and book the 8:15am bus to the MK.

Georgette:

We got very cheap airfare on JetBlue $82 per person round trip, but the limo to and from Logan Airport in Boston is $350. The cruise fare wasn't too expensive, but once you start adding in everything else.... woo! :teacher: LOL

unless your vehicle is an SUV or other oversize type truck - then there can be up to a 50.00 surcharge.

Hi everyone :)

Is anyone else starting to think about the smaller details regarding the cruise? The logistics and expenses, etc...?? :scratchin

I just started a spreadsheet where I'm listing all of the "extra" expenses that you don't think of right away when planning a cruise. :surfweb: It's scary how it all adds up! :teacher:  LOL

We've been doing the same. I've got an excel sheet started too! We just cashed in our change jar and we've been throwing singles into another jar since we booked last year. We're hoping our Disney CC reward dollars will cover our food, drinks, and snacks in the parks. I just started taking stock of the "extras" and how much we've got in the "saved" category.

I can't even keep track - I just cry when the bill comes in. My Amex thinks it is exclusive to Disney at this point :lmao::lmao:

As of today - we have:
17 cabins
35 adults
21 kids

If anyone is lurking and wants to join - please PM me! The spreadsheet link is in my signature - click to check your information.

As of now - I think we agreed to close the list at 60 days? If that is acceptable that closes us as of March 25. I personally do not mind waiting until later, but this is what I think everyone agree upon.

If anyone wants a different close date - please post your comments - this is a group decision, not a solo one!!

I need cabin numbers from these people:
djm24309 DeAna
Pattiteach Patti
thank you!

Speaking of the FE list, I've recently been contemplating removing myself from the list because my health hasn't been the best for a while now, and I'm afraid that I won't be able to get anything together for gifts. I had bought some supplies to make FE gifts, and I may still try and get to them, but I just don't know what to do. :confused3

I don't want to end up throwing together something stupid at the last minute, I don't want to disappoint anyone either. I'll definitely make a decision before the cut-off date!

I noticed that sftnslky is still listed on the FE list. On message #425 she said that they are no longer on our cruise.

I also wanted to mention that I am OK with stopping sign ups on the 30 day mark, but if the majority wants 60 days that is OK with me too.

I had forgotten to remove her from the list of cruisers in the first post, thanks for the reminder. :)

I'm ok moving the cut off to the 30 day mark as well. I probably won't even be putting mine together til then anyways!

Most folks just enjoy the process- I would just do what you can, and feel free to ask for help if you need it to make the delivery (I know my GF and I would be willing to deliver yours with ours if you need the help!)

oooopppppss - my bad...all fixed

me too obviously

sounds like folks are happy with the 30 day cutoff for this FE - the other thread I am doing the FE's for have picked 60 days and 45 days - it is funny how different groups choose different times. I will make the final decision before Mar 1 for all three - this way folks have a date to work with!

Cayla, thanks so much for the offer to help deliver the FE gifts, I really appreciate it. If I'm not able to do all of that walking, then I'd probably ask DS and his DGF to deliver ours along with theirs.

I've been looking online and I saw a cute idea of a gift that I could personalize and purchase, so even if I don't feel physically up to making the home-made gifts, at least I'll still have something to give out. Also, I'm going to make up "goodie bags" for the kids, as well. I'm glad that you've included the ages of the kids on the FE list. :)

Seaspray, I hope you stay in the FE list. Its so much fun to do, and you really don't have to go mad with it. On my last cruise we had such a variety of things, some people just gave sweets, others went totally crafty and made loads of beautiful things, but every single gift, however big or small was totally appreciated. And its fab coming back to your cabin and finding goodies! :rotfl:

How have other peoples diets been going, as I know a few of you mentioned you were trying to lose some weight? I have lost a stone and a half since New Year, so am really pleased, but there is plenty more to go yet! Problem is, I can't stop dreaming about food on the cruise to the point where I am almost obsessing about it, so I know I will put lots of weight back on when aboard!
