May 24th 2012 3 night Dream cruise!!!

Got my Palo and Remy reservations last night. Still thinking about canceling Remy, though. Not sure I want all of that food while crossing the gulf stream:sick:

We are crashing this cruise. It will be our second Dream cruise....our first will be in April! We had planned to book this one with another couple who also have a toddler (we've known them since we were parents only to the furry four-legged types, met them in puppy training class!) and were planning furiously (as I do).

And then? Once I had the budget figured? We got an invitation to join some friends for their wedding in April. On the Dream. DH expressed some financial concerns. Our conversation went something like this:

Me: We have to go! They INVITED us!
DH: You realize this means two cruises in two months.
Me: Score!
DH: Two cruises. Two months.
Me: In my mind, I'm already on the aquaduck.
DH: .....
Me: TWICE.

So here we are! It will be me (compulsive planner), my hub Lionel (gamer nerd) and our peanut Isabelle (precocious 2 year old). Joining us will be Karissa, Brian and their 18 month old, Liam.

Should be a hoot! I'm totally scoping out the boat in April. We haven't made set plans yet. Since the April one will be sans peanut, we're having some spa time and treating ourselves to Remy. This cruise? Not sure yet. I may not be as plan-crazy because we've never vacationed before with this particular couple....and I'm not sure they know how crazy I can be. I think we'll just end up aiming to do everything we didn't do on the April cruise. Palo is likely. I'm sure I'll book something at the spa. But maybe I'll do something novel this time and try to relax. :rotfl:

Oh, please fill us in how your April trip goes. This cruise is without kids for us, so I need some advice:goodvibes

Will do!

I don't know if they still do the romantic escape at sea (REAS) package, but we did it on a 4-day a few years ago and it was awesome! It included a night at Palo, a bottle of wine, a champagne breakfast delivered to the room and a few other odds and ends (like spa robes! we still have them, but I must admit wearing them at home is nowhere near as fun). Fun and special if the kids are at home.

Pretty sure they stopped this, at least the Palo part. It does sound nice.

WooHoo:cool1::thumbsup2 2 months 3 weeks and 2 days. Nice. Especially since this trip was almost canceled. DD (16) will be graduating from HS in 2013. She's going to school for Fashion Design and got invited to participate in a 3-day weekend program this summer. We figured we'd cancel the cruise and head out to LA instead. She made the call..........saying ABSOLUTELY NOT!!!! Her words
"mom I'm going to college regardless, we've been planning this cruise for a year and a half, how many times will we get to go on a Disney Cruise all of us together as a family, not many. I'll meet my future classmates when I start school in the fall of 2013."

So Dream hear we come. :cheer2: :rotfl::cheer2::rotfl::cheer2::rotfl:

Have fun! There is so much to do that you would be hard-pressed to do it all with both trips! We were able to get Palo brunch and high tea on the 4-night portion. We have Palo dinner and Remy on this part!

We'll be on the Dream in 2 months!!:goodvibes

This is our first cruise and it will be me, DH and DD (9). I am soaking in everything I can and I haven't been able to find a sign-up to do the FE. Is there some place to sign up to do this or is it not usually done on the short cruises? Forgive me for my newbie questions.

Anyway, we are so excited to try cruising and will be following up our cruise with a trip to WDW!! We can't wait!!

This is our first cruise also. I've been on these boards for the last year and a half after I booked, soaking in as much info as I can. We also have a 9yr old DD well I guess she'll be 10 by the time we actually sail, the cruise is sort of a birthday celebration. She so nervous about the cruise and kids clubs because she's not old enough to go into Edge with her older sister and cousin and her other cousin is only 5 so she thinks she'll be stuck baby sitting :rotfl2:.

I wondered about the FE exchange also but have since decided that we'll just wait until we take a longer cruise since I'm just about packed already and have managed to get away with only having to have 2 checked bags. :cheer2:

Hi! We will be on this cruise also. DH and I (both 40) DD (19 this Saturday!) DS (12) and DD (5). We had debated doing a longer cruise but have only cruised once as a couple and that was 15 years ago on the "Big Red Boat" which it turns out was not so big:lmao: So we decided to give this cruise a try and will be doing 3 days at Universal after the cruise. My older kids voted to do US/IOA rather than WDW since they have not yet done the Harry Potter thing there. We will be going to WDW in October anyway, doing the YES program for the younger 2 and if all goes well this trip, we may try to squeeze in another cruise!

Oh, and DH and I are surprising the kids with this trip. They get out of school Wed, the 24th and we will pick them up and head out. I am trying to think of things to tell them we are doing and then surprise them on Thursday by driving up to the port. They know we are doing US/IOA this summer but aren't sure of the date so I don't know whether to tell them that is what we are doing and then surprise them with the cruise first or let the whole thing be a surprise!

Also, I would love to hear from other moms of kids of "Edge" age that will be on this trip. I am worried that DS will not want to participate without a friend. I guess he can go to the younger kids club also, but with his 5 year old sister there he may not be too thrilled (as someone already mentioned-he may feel like he is babysitting!)

Are most people on early or late dining? We are late-probably since we booked so late but I actually prefer it and we dine late as it is. Is anyone planning on doing any excursions or specific activities? I am going to post some questions on the main board also to try to get some input since we are total newbs but I would love to hear some input from people that will be on the same cruise with us!

Welcome!

We surprised our girls with a cruise on the Dream last Halloween and it was so fun! It was hard to keep quiet at times, especially the closer to sailing!

I don't know anything about the Edge, but I don't think your son will be able to go into the Lab. DCL has been following the age guidelines on it. From what I understand from reading the boards, the Edge is awesome as well!

We do late dining. It was by default the first time, but we decided it works for us. We probably won't be in the MDR until the last night as we have Palo and Remy booked for dinners the first two nights.

We don't get off in Nassau, but on CC we usually take the girls to Scuttles Cove for a while and then head to Serenity Bay. It can be soooo peaceful there. After lunch we usually get the girls and head to the family beach. I think we will do it differently this year, but we shall see.

I was wondering if anyone is doing FE on the May 24th sailing. We did it on our last DCL cruise and had a blast. We have a group of 4 cabins (total of 5 adults and 5 kids) and would love to participate if anyone has set up a FE group. The kids in our group are Catherine -14, Taryn-11, Audrey-10, Isa-10, and Kelan-9.

I wondered the same thing when I first joined this thread. I thought it was a really cool idea. Guess we'll try when/if we taken our next cruise.

So excited we got our luggage tags in the mail yesterday. Only 5 more weeks. :dancer:party:

I don't think FEs are done as often on the 3-night cruises. The meet threads are usually pretty short (we are still on page 3) and there isn't as much connection made for some reason.

We are bringing our FE and will drop little happys in for our girls. The 4-night part of our b2b has one, but we didn't participate there.

Have a fabulous vacation! It is getting so very close!

my family and i are looking foward to our cruise. is there anyone else going to stuarts cove for the 2 tank dive? I'm the only one thats certified to dive so the rest of my family will be doing the junkado tour.
