Got my Palo and Remy reservations last night. Still thinking about canceling Remy, though. Not sure I want all of that food while crossing the gulf stream

Oh, please fill us in how your April trip goes. This cruise is without kids for us, so I need some advice![]()
Will do!
I don't know if they still do the romantic escape at sea (REAS) package, but we did it on a 4-day a few years ago and it was awesome! It included a night at Palo, a bottle of wine, a champagne breakfast delivered to the room and a few other odds and ends (like spa robes! we still have them, but I must admit wearing them at home is nowhere near as fun). Fun and special if the kids are at home.
Pretty sure they stopped this, at least the Palo part. It does sound nice.
We are crashing this cruise. It will be our second Dream cruise....our first will be in April! We had planned to book this one with another couple who also have a toddler (we've known them since we were parents only to the furry four-legged types, met them in puppy training class!) and were planning furiously (as I do).
And then? Once I had the budget figured? We got an invitation to join some friends for their wedding in April. On the Dream. DH expressed some financial concerns. Our conversation went something like this:
Me: We have to go! They INVITED us!
DH: You realize this means two cruises in two months.
Me: Score!
DH: Two cruises. Two months.
Me: In my mind, I'm already on the aquaduck.
DH: .....
Me: TWICE.
So here we are! It will be me (compulsive planner), my hub Lionel (gamer nerd) and our peanut Isabelle (precocious 2 year old). Joining us will be Karissa, Brian and their 18 month old, Liam.
Should be a hoot! I'm totally scoping out the boat in April. We haven't made set plans yet. Since the April one will be sans peanut, we're having some spa time and treating ourselves to Remy. This cruise? Not sure yet. I may not be as plan-crazy because we've never vacationed before with this particular couple....and I'm not sure they know how crazy I can be. I think we'll just end up aiming to do everything we didn't do on the April cruise. Palo is likely. I'm sure I'll book something at the spa. But maybe I'll do something novel this time and try to relax.![]()
You will never do another cruise after your DCL experience...Hello Everyone!!! This will be our 1st cruise as a family, my daughter's and my first cruise as well...my hubby has been on several cruise pre-marriage!!! LOL
Please give any pointers about the Disney Dream during Memorial Day Weekend! Also any pointers of the excursions as well...
We will be on Deck 7...can't remember the room number yet it has a verandah...LOL
We are excited!!! I am looking forward to meeting people...we live in Atlanta...
~Have a Magical Day!!!
We'll be on the Dream in 2 months!!
This is our first cruise and it will be me, DH and DD (9). I am soaking in everything I can and I haven't been able to find a sign-up to do the FE. Is there some place to sign up to do this or is it not usually done on the short cruises? Forgive me for my newbie questions.
Anyway, we are so excited to try cruising and will be following up our cruise with a trip to WDW!! We can't wait!!
Hi! We will be on this cruise also. DH and I (both 40) DD (19 this Saturday!) DS (12) and DD (5). We had debated doing a longer cruise but have only cruised once as a couple and that was 15 years ago on the "Big Red Boat" which it turns out was not so bigSo we decided to give this cruise a try and will be doing 3 days at Universal after the cruise. My older kids voted to do US/IOA rather than WDW since they have not yet done the Harry Potter thing there. We will be going to WDW in October anyway, doing the YES program for the younger 2 and if all goes well this trip, we may try to squeeze in another cruise!
Oh, and DH and I are surprising the kids with this trip. They get out of school Wed, the 24th and we will pick them up and head out. I am trying to think of things to tell them we are doing and then surprise them on Thursday by driving up to the port. They know we are doing US/IOA this summer but aren't sure of the date so I don't know whether to tell them that is what we are doing and then surprise them with the cruise first or let the whole thing be a surprise!
Also, I would love to hear from other moms of kids of "Edge" age that will be on this trip. I am worried that DS will not want to participate without a friend. I guess he can go to the younger kids club also, but with his 5 year old sister there he may not be too thrilled (as someone already mentioned-he may feel like he is babysitting!)
Are most people on early or late dining? We are late-probably since we booked so late but I actually prefer it and we dine late as it is. Is anyone planning on doing any excursions or specific activities? I am going to post some questions on the main board also to try to get some input since we are total newbs but I would love to hear some input from people that will be on the same cruise with us!
I was wondering if anyone is doing FE on the May 24th sailing. We did it on our last DCL cruise and had a blast. We have a group of 4 cabins (total of 5 adults and 5 kids) and would love to participate if anyone has set up a FE group. The kids in our group are Catherine -14, Taryn-11, Audrey-10, Isa-10, and Kelan-9.
