May 24, 2014 Alaskan 9 night Wonder

Yep you got it, the show would be the second time you are in AP for your rotation. They do this because the crew is so busy on embarkation night, that it is just easier to have the show on your second rotation in to AP. At least that is how they explained it to us, when we had this.

I've been on 2 7 night cruises where we started our rotation in AP. Both times, we got the show dinner the first night. The show at AP on the Wonder is the original show and not like the one on the Dream, Fantasy or Magic. You don't draw a character.

Considering this is a 9 night cruise, maybe they'll adopt the Let the Magic Begin menu on embarkation night. Then your AP show would be another night.

Truthfully, I don't obsess over what restaurant we get each night. I've had Pirate Night and Formal Night in AP and Semi Formal night in Parrot Cay. It doesn't matter to me.

I've only done the classic ships, so I've only seen the original show, and only heard of the draw a character thing. :) When we had AP the first night our show night was the second rotational turn in AP. I can't recall now if that was one of our 7 night or the 8 night or 15 night cruise and in truth I can't recall if it was Wonder or Magic, but I'm guessing Magic since we've only been on the Wonder once. :confused3 Leave it to DCL to do things differently, keeping us guessing.

Awww man. So we won't get the draw a character thing :( booo hisss

No, that is new technology that was developed for the Dream and Fantasy. There is no way it could be done on the Wonder unless the ship went into drydock and the technology was installed.

You are going to have to sail the Dream and/or Fantasy to see that show. I still don't know how they did it, but it is fascinating what they do.

Boooo regardless. I was going to say I didn't remember it on the Dream but at the same time it was our first DCL so there is a lot I don't remember.

:)It is not on the Dream, only on the Fantasy.

You are so right. The Dream just has Bruce come talk to you, right? that is if you are near a screen. Our last cruise was on the Dream, but we never went to the MDR the whole trip, so I was remembering from a while back.

Does anyone know about the Macmillan Space center in Vancouver?

The drawing technology was added to the Magic during its last remodel. I sailed her in November and it was not working yet; far more pressing things to get working than this show.

It should be working now, but I do not know.

When I need to look at my reservation, I go to the DCL site, select Castaway Club and then "review your cruises" or something like that. How do first-time cruisers get to their reservation? I need to help my SIL, and I am not sure how the newbies do it.

I posted this on the May 19 thread as well, so if you are doing both, you aren't seeing double. Just looking for the fastest answer.

You hover your mouse over planning center, and then click on My Reservation. You will login and then enter your reservation number and birthday.

Do gold get to start booking tonight at midnight or tomorrow night? I'm so excited for silver getting closer and closer. Sad to see they are giving a Canada rate for our cruise now.

Feb 8 is the date for Gold, which means we can start check-in Friday night/Saturday morning at 12:01 AM.

It's been 2 years since I've done the cruise thing. We are silver so our date is 2/23. Two questions:
Do we have to check-in for the cruise before we make our excursion reservations?

What time zone is the check-in time 12:01 AM eastern, central, pacific????

Finally, I got the official letter from DCL today forwarded to me from my TA regarding the Ballantyne terminal. It still only lists the complimentary shuttle in the parking section and gives a link to reserve parking. I emailed to confirm if we can still use the shuttle from Pan Pacific even if we are not parking a car and if we need to reserve anything through that link.

Shels, I was just gonna post about getting an email from DCL and my TA about the pier change, parking, and shuttle. The email mentioned arranging transporation thru DCL but I figured I would be able to do that cheaper and some hotels offer free transporation to the pier.

Hey Everyone!
Hope all is well with everyone!

Just a couple of comments...
We have always lucked out and gotten AP our first night, hope that continues. Other than that we don't really mind any rotation.
I did not care for the AP show on the Fantasy. It was ok. AP just seemed so crowded on the Fantasy.
Really looking forward to going on a smaller ship. I think we will try to stay with the classic ships.
As for our shore excursions, I dont have the actualnames and nothing is for sure until confirmed but these are the things we will try to get ressies for...
Whale Watching in Juneau
An offroad adventure with jeeps I think
DD and I are going on a boat ride that I think the boat is similiar to the ones the Navy Seals use
and there's something else.
I will have names and actual excursions hopefully on Saturday.

Ditto for me with official notification of pier change. I still need to reserve parking and I'll probably arrange transportation or maybe grab the shuttle, not sure yet.

I believe you can reserve excursions without checking in first, and time zone is eastern, which is sweet for us in the west, I've never had to stay up until midnight. :goodvibes

We are gold and can start booking Saturday night I believe.

Just a few hours now!!! If you are doing excursions I'd love to hear what people are booking!

I see the time issue was answered already but yes it is Eastern time zone so 9pm Pacific. I'm so thrilled to have to stay up til midnight on a Sunday night but I shall persevere for the sake of I AM GOING TO ALASKA!!! Hahaha

I still haven't gotten anything from my TA though she did confirm earlier for me when she called them. Maybe I can check with her about this shuttle thing. If that doesn't work out then once I get out PAT I can look into taxis etc to get us to the pier if needed.

I don't think the Pan does though. Does anyone staying at the Pan know? Did someone check this already I forget? There is so much swirling around right now haha.

Do you recall what AP is like on the wonder? Show wise I mean? I'm just curious at this point.
