May 24, 2014 Alaskan 9 night Wonder

I'm sure this has probably been discussed in here before but I was looking at the Vancouver Port Schedule and noticed that the May 24th Cruise departs from the Ballantyne Pier and not from Canada Place.

http://www.portmetrovancouver.com/en/about/cruiseandtourism/cruiselineschedules.aspx

I just wanted to share incase it wasn't known.

Well crap! I checked my reservation at the DCL website and it all states Canada Place. I just sent an email to my TA to verify which source is correct.

Great! It's weird though looking at canada place, they have 3 berths but only 2 ships.

Look at me, I'm less than thrills right now. I booked Pan because of having the 5yo in tow on my own I wanted ease!!! Argh

I'm booked at Pan too and will have to rethink that if the ship won't be there!

Yeh I unfortunately booked the prepaid rate to get a discount. Both before and after the trip (it looks like we should be returning to Canada Place though). And now the scramble begins for is to figure out the truth.

It doesn't sound very fun to walk to this other port either because they describe it as having to go over an overpass. Guess we will be hitching a taxi or something argh.

Sorry I hope i didn't stir up a hornet's nest if the port schedule is incorrect. I just saw it and it stood out as different. I am guessing the difference is you are leaving on Saturday and not the Wonder's normal home day of Monday.

From what I have read when researching the Pan Pacific it has shuttle service available to the Ballantyne

Oh heck no, as you can see this is the first this has been brought up so thank you!! I think I see you on a later trip to Alaska?

We return to a different port (supposedly) which is weird but it is what it is. I have my TA on the phone with Disney right now ;) that would be great if the Pan has a shuttle to that port! If it is true I will be checking that out, too.

TA just let me know that Disney has our ship going to and from Canada Place. I let her know about the Port's page though. Sooooo I guess even Disney isn't in the loop or something is wrong on the page?

I guess that is something. I'd like to know for sure though. :confused3

I know right! How weird is it that you would leave from one port in the city to return to another? I'm sure people parking cars will love that. It makes me nervous though that something isn't matching up. I mean at least it isn't saying Seattle hahaha

I booked the Pan Pacific for my husband for the night before we leave Vancouver. I didn't do the prepaid, but was able to get an ok rate for the Pan, and I would hate to have to make changes at this point.

Here I thought I had all the logistics figured out and all I had left was excursions. Well, it will be interesting to see what happens.

Now I am calling DCL myself to ask. The CM said "I still show the ship leaving from Vancouver". Haha well THAT is good news hahaha. I told her that they have 2 ports in Vancouver and the website says it is leaving from the one that isn't Canada Place (because she said that is the port they use) She is talking with a supervisor. The supervisor is looking at the port web page currently.

Disney's contract is with Canada Place she said.

She is now checking out what nights are formal night etc but now I've been disconnected. Boooo

I'm not changing from the Pan. I got a great rate and Ballantyne is only 5-10 minutes away. It'll just be a hassle to get there, if this shows to be the case. I think DCL ought to provide luggage pick up and free transportation for those of us at Canada Place! Right? :thumbsup2

Only have info on 7 nights dining schedule:

Casual
Formal
Casual
Casual
Semi formal
Casual
Casual

Maybe in March they will have the 9 night info. Who's going to call every day to find out now hahaha? She had no info on which night was Pixar night on the 7 day one.

Heck yeah I vote for that!

Not saying this is what is happening but my understanding is that the May and September cruises sometimes end up with a ship at Ballantyne vs Canada Place because of ships re-positioning. Disney is contracted with Canada Place on Monday's throughout the summer, but since this is the special 9 day cruise that starts the season after the re-positioning cruise it is on a Saturday and 2 other ships which are regular all summer Saturday Berth's are in Canada Place already.

It makes sense based on what the port schedule shows. I'll be honest I would tend to believe the official port schedule over the phone representatives but that's just me. It looks like it is an easy trip from one to the other.

I'm staying as well, but I will be disappointed since one of the main reasons for staying there was the ease of being right at the port. Plus I was parking there.

Thanks for keeping us posted. I've sent an email to my TA as well.

I looked on DCL site and all information still say's Canada Place including the address for getting to the port. I'm holding out hope that the port schedule has a typo since there aren't 3 ships in Canada Place that day - so there is still room for DCL.

I hope Disney and your TA are correct! I haven't heard back from my TA yet. It does say this at the bottom of that port schedule though so that gives me hope that it is the schedule that is wrong and Disney is right!

I will say that port website was helpful for transportation directions for how to get from the airport to Canada Place via Skytrain so all was not a waste!

Hey, I'm just glad you brought this to our attention. Thank you. I think we have to wait for official word from Disney obviously. Did anyone else's cruise info say their cruise was May 24-June 3? Yeh, that came from our TA, but I would assume it comes from Disney? YEAH maybe we get a 10th night FREE :banana:pixiedust::yay::cheer2::jumping1:

I'm staying of course, it doesn't sound like the other port is far ("minutes"). But is that walking or driving? And the directions sound really awkward. I don't know that I want to walk that dragging luggage (over an overpass?) with a 5 yo. BTW I see the same port info in my pre-arrival stuff online, too.

OOO I like that. Makes it sound more promising. Fingers still crossed. It would just be nice if we could get more than just a confirmation from a CM that we are at Canada Place. Does anyone have the captain's email address ;) :joker:

This is encouraging!

Hopefully there's a shuttle, either through the hotel or DCL.

:rotfl2: I don't even know who the captain is, let alone his email address. ;)

Me either :lmao: I just thought it would be fun to give him a shout, "hey where are you gonna park the ship on May 24?" :drive:
