May 24, 2014 Alaskan 9 night Wonder

Hopefully there's a shuttle, either through the hotel or DCL.

Sorry folks. I emailed the Pan and they do not offer a shuttle service to Ballantyne. They will however arrange a private transfer (Luxury Limousines) for an additional cost. A taxi ride would be about $15.

Me either :lmao: I just thought it would be fun to give him a shout, "hey where are you gonna park the ship on May 24?" :drive:
:lmao: That's almost the exact verbiage I was thinking of when I first read your post. "Hey, where you parking?" :rotfl2:

I'm still holding out hope it's a typo on the port site, but if not, I guess we'll be grabbing a taxi.

Only have info on 7 nights dining schedule:

Casual
Formal
Casual
Casual
Semi formal
Casual
Casual

Maybe in March they will have the 9 night info. Who's going to call every day to find out now hahaha? She had no info on which night was Pixar night on the 7 day one.

So is this the traditional 7-night Alaska sailing info? If so, do we know they won't change it up for 9 nights?

And the thing is, this will affect those of us doing the B2B from San Diego as well. I know all of us Ubber-planners would like to know something concrete soon.

I understand that Canada Place is the nicer pier of the two.

When it comes right down to it, the ship will be in Vancouver and we will be going to Alaska no matter which dock they leave from. It may be just a touch more inconvenient is all.

I called DCL as well, and they are standing by Canada Place, even after I pushed a little to get it confirmed and not just give me the standard answer of "Canada Place is who we contracted with". They she asked if I had contacted the Port to see what they said.

I have sent an e-mail to the Port of Vancouver, but who knows if I will get a response or not. I will keep you posted.

yup us too! I'm just worried about the number of taxis needed at the Pan at one time! :scared1:

This is the traditional 7 night that she gave me. It's just an idea of the spread out between formal and semiformal and maybe the fact that formal night will be the 2nd night (that's a sea day for us) and then what ever port night was their semiformal night, maybe it will be the same for us. But the info is really just for entertainment purpose only haha.

EXACTLY :thumbsup2 I'd not care if I was traveling alone either, I just worry about having a 5 yo in tow not knowing where to go haha. I know though by then we should know which port we should head to so there will be time to plan it.

Yeh just as I figure. The CMs aren't the logistical people in this whole thing. BUT someone at Disney has to know, I mean Platinum people get to start checking in in just a few days right? Doesn't it give you the details then?

Just need to remember we will get there! It isn't like we will be waiting in Vancouver and supposed to be in Seattle. Eye on the prize eye on the prize :)

I just updated the 1st thread with names. Please let me know if there are any mistakes.

Also I get lost on any links or things like that we can post there. Does anyone want to add anything there?

First e-mail came back as "undeliverable", so I am sending the same message to another e-mail address listed on their site. :confused3

About getting to the Ballantyne pier, if that ends up to be the case. The CM told me just a few minutes ago that if it ended up being the Ballantyne pier, then Disney would provide transportation to that pier. Honest, that is what she said after speaking to a supervisor.

Knowing how that works, I would suggest a cab to my DH rather than trying to be herded onto a bus and schlepping luggage and then claiming luggage again when getting off the bus.

Howdy

We are cruisin Alaksa

We are paid in full :cool1:

It will be me and my daughter Kara - who is celebrating her 23rd birthday

we are in 7620 and will not be doing an first extender this cruise

If everything works out - we are also doing the 5 night out of San Diego

:wave2:

Just heard back from my TA and she said she talked to a supervisor at DCL and they are sticking to the Canada Place as being the place for 5/24! She said she would check again in a few months as we get closer. Soooo

Second e-mail came back as undeliverable as well, and since I am using copy and paste, I don't think it is operator problems, but possibly outdated information on their end.

Not trying any more at the moment.

Please add my daughter Chris, to our stateroom #6642. Thanks, Linda and Ed(VowRenewal13).

Welcome Marla and Kara. If you do get it worked out, there are several cabins of us doing the San Diego cruise as well--lots of us B2B'rs. Glad you are joining us, and how fun to be sailing with your daughter. :)

Linda, I am glad there is another young person at our dinner table. My nephew is sailing on this cruise, but not the San Diego cruise, and at least he will have someone to talk to other than us old folks (meaning me and my DH). :lmao:

I am looking forward to our dinner group and being able to hear everyone's experiences at the end of the day. :goodvibes

Is it weird that I find this encouraging? Speaks to the reliability of the information on the site. :)

Yeh, I can imagine they aren't going to shuttle people but once (one time for pick up like when using the transfers from WDW to PC) and if you get an early boarding time that relying on their free shuttle won't be a great thing

I know right! :lmao:

So I guess we are just waiting and waiting some more popcorn::

Has anyone flown through Vancouver before? I was wondering if when we come home (provided our flight is going to a US city and not another Canadian one first) does the Vancouver airport have a US Customs there? I know Toronto and I think Montreal (though I can't remember) does. So there you go through US customs before you even board the plane! Just wondering because United changed my return flight and now I have a LOVELY 38 minutes in Chicago now...NO WAY can I get through customs there AND through the United terminal to our next gate. This makes the whole Ballantyne port thing a piece of cake haha.
