So we are down to 40 days!!! No wonder I am starting to have goofy cruise dreams...I am getting nervous. Since this is our first cruise, I guess I am worried about EVERYTHING! Please tell me I am worried for nothing...that it's just nerves from it all being new to me. My boys did not know about the cruise until last week...and it slipped by accident! I was going to tell them later that day anyway...but I had the dog at the vet and she said he needed a dental cleaning soon. So I said, well, he'll be here for a week in May for boarding...can you do it then?? My son just looked at me and said, "A week in May, huh?" He knew right then and there what was going on because I have been talking about "maybe" taking a
Disney cruise. Oh well...it was a funny way for him to find out about it!!
Darn I hate when that happens!! I always end up opening my mouth and spilling secrets! But it did work out pretty cute.
DO NOT worry about cruising. I had dreamed of cruising ever since I watched Love Boat. It was all I ever wanted to do. We finally planned a 3 day Wonder combined with WDW when our son was 8 and our daughter 11. We wanted them to be able to remember and appreciate it.
Anyway....I was sooooo excited. All the planning and preparing.
We spent a week at WDW, and by the time we were down to about two days left, I started to get scared to death to get on the ship. I even went in and talked to the
DCL representative at the Polynesian...hoping someone could calm my nerves. She told me that she only had ever heard of one person backing out at the last minute. She had a lot of good advice, but really all she could say was that once I was onboard, before we even sailed, I would see how huge the ship was (I was worried about feeling too confined) and would see that it was so wonderful.
She was SOOO right!! I got onboard, took one look around and thought "What a waste of time and energy, worrying like that!". I loved it. And a 3-day was TRULY not long enough.
We came home raving about it so much that our oldest daughter decided to get married the next year on
Castaway Cay.
Since then, we've cruised 13 or 14 times....Disney, Princess and Norwegian. And I LOVE IT.
Please don't worry about it.
