May 23, 2009 (5/23/09) E. Caribbean w/Tortola

I have a work cruise on May 10 and it didn't make sense to fly home for the 9 days, do laundry, unpack, repack and hope I got everything. We had the points to use so why not!

I don't blame you...a great idea, and very cool!

I updated the FE list, adding Jane and Heath (tripodjw)

Wow...we are going to be cruising before you know it!!

DH and I were thinking about making our reservation at a hotel near his parents house for the 2 nights before the cruise. I really do NOT like the hotel too much. We only stay for the closeness to his family. It hit me today that we have leftover developer points to use by Oct 3rd. We need 38 pts, and we have exactly 38 points. I called MS today to book it, and they only have the Friday night available, so we took that! We are paying cash to stay at Pop Century the night before. We won't get in until late anyways. This will save us money$$$$ on our trip by using our DP's to stay at SSR. We won't be doing Disney then, we will be visiting family in Orlando. We just wanted a way to save money and stay in a comfortable room...LOL I'll be calling back to see if May 21st opens up before we leave!!

Anyone else staying at Disney before the cruise??? Or near the port?

We're staying at the Hilton in Cocoa Beach the night before. DH likes to make a Ron Jon's run (he loves their T's) plus we'll get a chance to visit with some friends who live in nearby Titusville...

We're staying at the Hyatt at the airport. I don't know why we bothered, our flight doesn't get in until 11:00 pm...we could have just camped out at the port!

I forgot all about Ron Jon's, I will have to go see what they have... maybe FE stuff! Woo Hoo! Hope you all are having a good week!

I have dreams before we cruise. Now they've turned into the "unpacking/packing" nightmares. I dream that we are on the ship and I am unpacking, unpacking, unpacking...while the rest of the family is already out having fun. And by the time I'm done unpacking, the cruise is over, I missed it ALL and have to pack everything back up again.

The lesson learned from that.....PACK LIGHTLY!!!

That is too funny :):rotfl:

I've just been out at lunchtime and bought some stuff for the FE's. The excitement is really starting to kick in now.:dance3: I'm going to be unbearable by the time its sailday

Forgot to add in, we're flying in to MCO on the Thursday and staying at the Radisson at Lake Buena Vista. We picked it up really cheap on sale through expedia-uk, and for only 2 nights i'm not fussed about paying the extra to stay onsite.

We're planning on picking up a no-expiry 10day magic your way pass and going to DHS and MK on the Thursday and Friday. (We figured this was much better value than a 2 day ticket - unless anyone else has any ideas on cheap 2 day tickets).

Means we'll have to come back to FL for another 8 days sometime. What a shame. :lmao:

Have you looked at annual passes? They're about the same price as the 10 day non expiring, and you can get an AP discount on rooms. Not to mention, you'd have to come back in the next 12 months!!:woohoo:

38 days to go...I think we are at the point where we can count down the days on a daily basis!!:rotfl2::worship:

I'm excited to be staying at Disney the two days before the cruise. (I had wanted to stay near the port, but we want to use the time to visit with Ed's family).

We haven't done much to get ready for the cruise. We've been working on unloading boxes from mom's old house (been in the garage/basement for almost 2 years now). We're almost done working on that, and want to finish before the cruise.

Still have to try on clothes for the cruise, and I have NOTHING to wear for formal or semi formal nights :confused3 I have NO idea what to do.

I told DH I want the suitcases out on the 30 day mark so I can start packing the stuff we have in our cruise bin!! The more I can do now, the less stress I'll feel before we leave. I'll be having to help mom with dialysis, and get grandma at the airport the day before we leave and cook some meals to freeze for them the day or two before we leave. So I want to be packed way in advanced!!!! :thumbsup2

Still mulling over an AP. Problem for us is factoring in transatlantic air-fare and the need to then take at least a full week off work to come back. No popping for a long weekend from the UK.

Will have to think about whether we can justify another trip wthin 12 months - we already have AP's for Disneyland Paris (only just renewed those in Feb).

And DH promised me a couple fo weeks back (as part of my birthday present) to take me to Hong Kong and Tokyo in March 2010 (specifically in MArch to go to for the sevens rugby tournament but mostly to go to Disneyland in both of them :thumbsup2).

We're only doing that next yr because my parents/sister went to HK Disney this year and i was so jealous they made it there first, so we have to beat them to Tokyo Disney :lmao: And we're already beating them to DCL with this trip :rotfl2:

Stacey - What is your Cabin and are all 3 of you sharing?
Thanks so much for the list - I AM going to do my FE's this week LOL
Spring break came and went - DD did ask a couple of times about them.:rotfl:

I've got an FE list question. I was looking at Stacey's list - seeing if i could reorder it for starting from my room (whihc i've sorted now). But notice that there's some extra people on Stacey's list that aren't on Heather's FE list.

Stacey has scrapbookmailbox (rm 2633) and Churchlady (2 rms 2583 and 2585) extra.

I think i found scrapbookmailbox saying they wanted to be in the FE exchange but can't track down Churchlady saying so (but i haven't gone back through the whole thread - just used search)

Does anyone know for sure either way? Stacey?

Or can churchlady and scrapbookmailbox put me out of my confusion.

Don't want to get anything wrong when sorting out my FE gifts

i know alot of folks book thier cruise years in advance but that would DRIVE ME NUTTS knowing i've gotta wait that long to go.........we booked this one only 2 months out and just can't wait to get on the boat......:banana:

I was checking our reservation today and discovered we had been moved from 7560 (Cat. 5) to 8020 (Cat. 4). We had originally booked on Deck 7 because we had a bad experience with a Cat 6 last time (lots of noise from a hydraulic pump used to launch the lifeboats). So we have been moved from midships starboard to port forward, under one of the hot tubs. I suppose it will be nice having the extra room, but I'm a little worried about noise from Deck 9, especially with moving deck chairs around. :confused3 We're going to think about it and maybe call DCL tomorrow to see if we can get switched back.

If you move you won't be my neighbor! Don't worry... we'll still get the girls together!

Checked my reservation online - and I still have the same cabin #. Does anyone know if they "start at the top" of the cabin chain and work their way down? Might I still be in the upgrade pool? #6545

Wow, you have an awesome vacation schedule lined up!! I would love to visit all three of those!! We're WDW, Disneyland, and DCL regulars, but I'd love to throw some of the others into the mix!:)

Is anyone doing the Baths excursion in Tortola?? I am looking at doing it and would love to do it on our own...but that makes me nervous...afraid of missing the ship if we don't make it back in time. Any thoughts?
