May 2016.. Let the planning begin!

Discount Question: We are looking to go in Middle of May. If I book the rooms now and then a discount like 25% off comes out...Can I call Disney and have them apply the 25% off my reserved rooms do I just have to wait to book untill the discount code is released to get it?

you can definitely book now and have them apply it later, but they still only have a certain number of rooms available for certain resorts for certain dates- so if you're not on top of it, you still may not get the discount.

I am planning a trip for the end of May/first of June for my son's graduation gift. There will be myself, hubby, son, daughter-n-law, graduating son and a friend. My problem is at this time we don't know who the friend will be. Several of his classmates have plans following graduation. I would like to book because it will be a fairly large trip with a fairly large price tag so I would like to begin making payments on the trip. How do I go about this if I don't know who the 6th person is going to be? Should I call and make the reservation over the phone, should I make a room only reservation and upgrade to a package later? We are also going to spend the first couple of days at Universal. So, if anyone knows how to work this out for Universal, as well, any advice would be appreciated.

So excited to say that I will be visiting Disney Parks again in May 2016 for my HONEYMOON! :love2: We are staying at Bay Lake Tower with a theme park view. My dream vacation! The dates are May 9th to May 16th

I am following this thread (some might call it torture!), even though I am not officially planning for May 2016. Yet. I want to, desperately, but DH is unemployed at the moment. Until he finds a job, we can't make any definite plans. But man, how much we want to go to WDW next May! We went early May 2014, and we'd repeat the same time period (if we can, who knows what he'll be allowed for time off!). We were at POR, in Alligator Bayou and LOVED every inch of the resort. Until we can make actual plans, I'm debating with myself if we should repeat POR, and request AB with similar room location, or try the Mansions section, or even try a bit more different with POFQ. But I'm babbling. I'm enjoying seeing all you guys's travel plans, and I hope to be able to join in the fun soon!

We're booked for 8 nights in May. This time we decided to try renting DVC points, and saved a lot. 8 nights in a value studio at AKV for under $1,200. Normal price to stay there when booking through Disney is $3,624, so we're saving nearly $2,500 just for our room. I'll take it!!!! :cloud9: We plan to buy annual passes since we plan on 3 trips within one year.

When you rent DVC points...do you have to pay the entire amount up front?

So glad I found you all!! We're usually January travelers, but the kids don't want to miss a week of school anymore, so we're planning on going as soon as they get our if school. I'm a little nervous about going Memorial Day weekend, but I think since we've been quite a few times already, well hit the highlights in the morning and swim in the afternoons. We may even do a wateepark this trip! Hoping for a good discount!!!

Can I ask, what company did you use for renting? I want to try this option, just fearful of being taken.

Also planning a May 2016 trip! DS and DD both finish college on the 14th so hoping to check in 5/16 for 8 nights. Also, thinking about our first split stay.

What type of discount is everyone hoping for?? I'm so used to traveling in the offseason and getting great discounts, I know this trip is going to cost sooo much more!! Guess my free dining days are over. :(

I know, I'm so used to free dining! We're staying at Pop, so a room discount isn't so great... but hey, I'll take it :)

Went May 2014 6-13, 2014 and May 3-10, 2015---heading back in November for 5 days and also planning on May 2016!! love May!

Have a trip planned in late May, encompassing memorial day weekend (5 night stay with our teens and college aged son). My oldest did star wars weekends this past May and loved it, so we decided to go next year. Normally we travel in late April, but next year it's May. I expect some big crowds, but I've got my touring plans and crowd calendars and FP+ strategies to deal with it. Never been to STWeekends, so should be a blast! And, staying on property at POR for the first time....normally offsite timeshare exchangers.....hoping for package discount, my TA will keep watch.
