May 2016 Car Rentals

+1

Don't mind saving but using VB I feel will eventually bite somene trying to use. If I can get the same cost (or even a few $ more) using rate code/contract code I'd know eligible for or one all can use (as in a public discount code) it is peace of mind for us given the rental company every tried to make a claim against us for any reason.
I totally agree. I am completely happy with my $126 rate for a fullsize for a week with costco code and $50 coupon. Even if it had been a few dollars higher, I would have still done it just not to have to worry about the VB code. If prices had not come down, I would have absolutely used the VB code to save $ but If I can get close without it, I prefer that route.

I agree. I'm so happy that the regular rates that I know I'm eligible for are now less than the Vegas code/TB1 or the AS1 product code. Actually those codes give me a higher rate than the regular codes. I keep encouraging folks to try to book without all of the questionable codes to compare. I'm still 3 weeks out, so who know what will happen further.

I'm new to this. Is there a specific place I can find these codes? Costco? As1? Vegas Brazil? And the $50 off coupon?

Keep in mind that there are public codes and member codes. Costco is a member code and can ask for a membership ID. The Vegas code is questionable, but often gives you a low price. Most coupons now are e-coupons so you don't always have to produce a paper copy. This $50 coupon code just showed up on the boards recently, so we don't know too much about it. There was a $35 coupon floating around, but it's now expired or pulled. Some folks have experienced problems checking in online, or being directed to the counter which has resulted in a higher price than what they have quoted. Not sure if it's from the $35 coupon or the Vegas code, or isolated. I know that mousesavers has a list on their website of codes and coupons available to all listed under their rental car information. You can try there too.

I believe with Alamo that they will hold the rental until midnight of the day of pickup. So even if you have a 1:00pm pickup, you could arrive at 11:00pm and have no issues. You may not have as good a pick of cars, but I don't think your rate changes.

i thought they gave you up to 2 hours, but that might be only re flight delay. know they & national have held and honored mine in the past for even longer delay when i called directly.

i was already on the half hour. dropped the VB and used DVC, AS1 & AD4004JDK...

compact dropped to $86, midsize to $111 for my week beginning 5/7.

thanks to n2mm's suggest, checked the AP rate and had another drop:)

compact $76, midsize $97...never, have I ever:dogdance:

I found the AP & DVC rate codes don't like one way rentals even if they are a full week.(MCO-DCCC)

I've been a DVC member since 2001 and I don't ever remember there being a code. I've tried searching and can't find it any where. Can anyone help me out here? I have the AP code but would like to give the DVC code a try.

OK, I got 4 day rental (economy car) from May 5-8 for $68.18, all taxes included. Used Brazil code and $50 off coupon.

Used the new $50 off coupon and Vegas code. Down to $105.44 for mid-size for 5/23 - 5/29. Now I'm considering upgrading car class. ;)

Upgraded to a full size for $120.66. I think the extra $4 a day is worth it!

Used the $50 coupon, the passholder code (860292) and the AS1 product code and got my full size down to $105.55. Hoping this all works. ;)

We did similar but with the Costco code. It is that Product Code that is the question. Without it the rate is much higher.

when I used the passholder code of 15000 with Alamo, the additional free driver disappears. The car is booked under husbands name and he is not a passholder, I am . Think this will cause a problem at check in if they ask for passholder card?

I paid $435 for a 15 day rental for a minivan as a DVC member. Had I been a costco member it would've been $412. I'm 3 weeks out today, picking up on April 30 @4:30PM and dropping off on May 15 @ noon.

This morning, a pp listed a Disney Passholder code of 15000 and that is what it shows as on the website. I replicated your reservation [I promise I'm not creepy - just trying to help:flower3:] and actually got your rate down to $387. for a minivan. To reiterate, use AD4004JDK, 15000 and AS1. I feel a little uncomfortable entering a Product Code like alot of us have been doing, but other than that I am eligible for all of the codes/coupons I am entering.

Not creepy....Thanks, I didn't update. I actually got it down to $374 a few days ago using only the AD4004JDK and 15000. If I used the AS1 it jumped to $387, but without it it dropped to $374, which is better because it got me away from the AS1 code. Over the past few days the price has gone up. Thanks for watching out for me!

I know what you mean. Entering a Product Code makes me uneasy. I'm sitting at $186. for an 11 day rental which isn't too bad, but that's using the AS1 code.

Ok. I am not trying to sound dumb. What is AS1? Snd what is everyone referring to as product code?

I actually emailed Alamo yesterday to ask since there is much confusion as to who is eligle to use it. ,They told me it is a special that they have running and if it works, use it!

I was confused at first too!

on Alamo's homepage there are three places you can put in codes, once you click on add a discount code, three boxes pop up

Coupon code
Contract ID
Product code

I'm using

Coupon code AD4004JDK ($50)
Contract Id 7014627 (Costco code)
Product code AS1

It's questionable about the AS1 code because it seems to be tied to tour companies in South America? Idk, but it dropped my rental from $250 to $86 for a compact for a week, so....:scratchin

I'm using the same Coupon code and Product Code along with the Passholder code. I figure as long as I do online straight to car check in I'm good to go!
