May 2011: The kids are getting 3rd visit surprise! Now w/pics!

I hope your DS gets better soon and it doesn't spread to everyone. That's how it goes around here, 1 child gets it then it slowly gets to everyone else.

Yea, at least I was half right. Your stories are super cute, I hope you can find the pics I would love to see them. Hope you see them this time around.:thumbsup2 From what I have read Marry Poppins is at breakfast at 1900 park fare, while Cinderella and her posse are there for dinner.:goodvibes

Good news. Got our Mickey Mail today. And as I promised, we got two luggage tags.:thumbsup2 I will post more on my PTR since I have already threadjacked you enough during this trip.:thumbsup2 (Doen't mean I wont do it again during other PTR or TR's)

LOL I love how Disney has the ability to make you forget that you are an adult. I love your Mary Poppins & Eeyore stories!

I hope you all feel better soon!

Mary Poppins is still at UK right near the Kim Possible stand! She use to be at the 1900 Park Fare breakfast at GF, I don't know if she is there anymore or not. It's been years since we ate there.

Thank you!

We looked for her there last year, but she wasn't out when we were in the area. We'll be checking again this year. We have no plans to visit 1900 PF this year, so the parks is really our only option. :thumbsup2

Too funny!

I never know what to say when I meet the characters.

Hope you get to meet Mary Poppins again so you can redeem yourself, LOL!

And hope your DS gets better soon... no fun being sick!

I never know either. I got confused with what Donald was telling us one day. I thought he was mad that DD didn't have a pin of him, but he was actually pointing it out (yeah, I'm apparently blind :lmao:).

Thank you! DS is feeling better today, he's been playing, but still says his mouth hurts. :(

I hope your DS gets better soon and it doesn't spread to everyone. That's how it goes around here, 1 child gets it then it slowly gets to everyone else.

Thank you! He has stayed in my face, so its inevitable that I'll get it. :sad2:

I'm hoping to find her again in the UK. Maybe this time I can speak instead of stand there like an idiot. :rotfl2: Hoping to drag the laptop out soon and check.

And threadjack me ANYTIME you want, Corrine. :thumbsup2 It keeps me entertained. And sooo glad to hear you got Mickey Mail! :woohoo::woohoo:

LOL I love how Disney has the ability to make you forget that you are an adult. I love your Mary Poppins & Eeyore stories!

Thank you! I am thrilled that Disney has the ability to make me feel like a kid!

Hope everyone is feeling better.

Thank you!! Still have Cookie in my thoughts. Can't wait to hear how things go 5/2.

Thank you everyone for the well wishes. :grouphug: He's feeling better, but still complains his mouth hurts. :sad1: He's been playing and eating well, so hopefully the flu has passed and just waiting for the swelling to go down on the strep.

How did I not find this earlier?? Caught up in my own trip perhaps?? Now I can live vicariously through you!:goodvibes

Live vicariously through me??!! Girl, you're only going back 50 million more times this year. :lmao::rotfl2: It should be the other way around. ;)

But in all seriousness :welcome:

I'm super excited that my ticker no longer says "months" and is now in the "weeks"!

Totally looking forward to your TR updates! :woohoo:

Its too funny about your character interaction on your last trip! I always feel like such a weirdo standing in line without kids to see a character. Like, "whats wrong with that girl...doesn't she know its not real?" :confused3:rotfl:

That said, I've met with all kinds of characters. Little tip to character seekers: during our honeymoon, we saw like 8 or 10 random characters (you know, the ones that are so rare, you only see them in the parade, and most don't know their names) near American Adventure in Epcot. To the side of the counter service restaurant there, on the left side, is a bathroom. To the left of the bathrooms is an alley way. Twice we've seen characters line up, usually early afternoon before many are even in World Showcase. It would truly be a treat for a big autograph seeking or rare character fan.

My secret character that I'm dying to meet...Mickey - but PLAIN mickey. (I've met Mickey Sorcerer and Mickey from Animal Kingdom). And when I was a kid, I might have met him. But as an adult, through our 6 trips to DLR and 2 to WDW since 2008, and all the random one day excursions in college, I have never met Mickey! Watch out DH, this girl is on a mission! :rotfl2:

I'm joining in :dance3:

This sounds like a great trip you are planning and I hope the surprise goes well for you :thumbsup2
I was surprised with a birthday trip to DLP in the past but they only lasted until the day before we left, I wish they could've told me in the morning and filmed it so I could've been on one of the Disney adverts :rotfl2:

We met some characters there on our last trip! And one of them was just plain old Mickey, with no line, it was incredible. Definately a great place for crazy character hounds like myself to find unusual characters!

Oh man! I was wrong on the trivia. I definitely need to go back and reread. So you  Mary Poppins...."a spoonful of sugar makes the medicine go down...." Did you sing that to the kiddos when you gave them their medicine???

Sorry to hear that DS and Devil kitty were ill this weekend. Kay started coughing tonight and her eyes look very glassy. I asked her if she was feeling ok and she said, "Mom, you gave it to me." :sad2: I really tried not to share, but it was very hard not to when I was trying to shield my coughs and keep my hands washed while helping the girls (at GS mtg) cut fruit and such. I wouldn't be surprised if all the girls came down with this creepin' crud.

I am actually feeling better tonight. :woohoo: Just in time to take care of the rest of the family. :sad2:

I hope it skips over you and the rest of your family. I agree about DHs never getting it. That is the same here. I don't know how he always avoids it. He needs to share that secret. I think moms usually get it because we are in the thick of it taking care of everyone.

I am sooo glad to be back on the DIS. We are now in the 20's until our trip. You are probably in the teens? Have you started packing yet? I think I will pull out the suitcase tomorrow. I have all our new vacation clothes sitting on my cedar chest in my bedroom. I need to get everything in the suitcase soon! :cool1:

Just a quick pop over to say YEAH for 3 weeks to go! I am super far behind on PTRs but want to catch up before I go. I just threw my final park day on mine and it was sad.

Plain Mickey is at the Character greet at Epcot, Character Connection! There is also the new Mickey meet and greet at the MK, it's as soon as you walk into the park on the right hand side, just before Tony's restaurant!

I'm super excited that my ticker no longer says "months" and is now in the "weeks"!

Hurray for weeks!!!

I'll confess.... We go to WDW for me, but I'm nice enough to take my kids along. :lmao: I tell everyone "we're taking the kids", but that's just so they don't look at me funny.

And yes, having kids while standing in line for M&Gs does make me feel less self-concious. :rotfl2:

I'm really hoping you get to meet regular Mickey! All I've met so far is Chef Mickey and Chef Goofy (he's still on my list of meets - regular Goofy). We saw them at the Character Spot in Epcot in 2009, but the line was stupid long, so we didn't bother. :sad2:

That is awesome that you were surprised with a DLP trip!! I still, honestly, don't know how or what we're going to do to surprise the kids. I need to sit down with DH and talk about it ... but hoping to get it on video!

The kids don't believe me when I tell them "a spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down" ... but then again, most medicines nowadays aren't as icky tasting as they were when we were growing up.

There are two movies my mom will never watch again because I burnt her out on them as a kid ... one was Mary Poppins (the other was non-Disney). My kids have seen both movies, and they prefer the non-Disney one as its animated.

I hope Kay feels better soon! And I hope the other girls don't catch it!

I'm at 20 days!! We'll hit the Teens tomorrow!! :woohoo::woohoo:

I have NOT started packing yet ... but hoping to work on it some this week. DS needed a new suitcase, so I did get it purchased today. :thumbsup2

Just a quick pop over to say YEAH for 3 weeks to go! I am super far behind on PTRs but want to catch up before I go. I just threw my final park day on mine and it was sad.

WOOHOO! :woohoo: 3 weeks and we're kickin' it with the Mouse!

I could tell when you were writing that post that you were kinda down about having to write your last day there. :sad1::hug:

But just think ... in less than 3 weeks, we'll be living it up! (And praying it never ends! :thumbsup2)

Plain Mickey is at the Character greet at Epcot, Character Connection! There is also the new Mickey meet and greet at the MK, it's as soon as you walk into the park on the right hand side, just before Tony's restaurant!

So today ... I decided to go get my hair trimmed. It was past due for a trim and I wanted to get it over with. Let me just state, I HATE getting my hair cut. I hate getting my hair cut because stylists usually butcher it. I have super thick, curly hair. It is hard to work with, I know that. And the one stylist I found who was amazing... she's hopped salons so many times, I have no clue where to start to find her. :confused3

So anyway ... earlier this year, I went to the salon I trust the most around here. Their "top" stylist destroyed my hair. I am still recovering from what she did to it. :sad2: It's hair, so I'm not stressing over it or anything, but it is frustrating. Anyway, the last girl I saw at this salon, she was AMAZING! But she wasn't available today.

So as I was sitting in the lobby checking FB, I hear "Did you go to X Y High School?" I stared at the girl, trying to decide how to answer. She caught my blank look and then asked, "You dated Jason XXXX, right?" Yep, she knew me. (I didn't attend the 10 year reunion for a reason.) It turned out, we had Geometry together and she had a class with my exboyfriend. So we chatted for a bit. It was nice to hear about Jason (we were best friends after highschool and lost touch about 6 years ago) and his brother. As she was cutting my hair, the entire time I'm thinking ... "this isn't right".

So, after I explained I am trying to get the layers out of my hair and wanted to bring the length up slightly so the shortest layer and longest layer aren't so far apart, she went overboard. Now my shortest layer won't even tuck behind my ear. I don't know what I'll do this summer, since it won't be long enough for a ponytail. So I am very frustrated. After she straightened it and I pointed out how uneven it was - she did fix it (but not correctly). It looks fine, cute actually, but I am still in square 1 when I had just moved to square 2 (and was hoping for 3 today). Oh well. :headache:

Anyway, as I was waiting for them to open, I wandered into Target. DS needed a new suitcase, so I thought I'd check to see if they had any on sale. They had an adorable Mario Bros duffel bag (on sale!) that I picked up.

I also got a new purse (on sale) for the parks, and 2 pairs of socks for DS from the Dollar Spot.

Shopping002.jpg

Outside of those finds, I did pick up a few toiletries, but nothing amazing. I haven't made my list yet, so I didn't go overboard. I didn't want to buy things we didn't need. I'll go back later and finish up the shopping. I need to check DD and DS's shorts first.

But here are pictures of the clothes I bought a couple weeks back:

All the shirts I purchased at Walmart. I'm still sad that I'll have to do bag checks this year, as I loved not having to do it last year ... but its important that we keep her inhaler on us this year since she's been struggling.

DS returned to school today. He still complains of his mouth, but he's doing well. :thumbsup2 So far, outside of feeling ick all weekend, no one has caught anything yet.

Tomorrow, the kids have Field Day at school. I'm hoping to attend some events for both of the kids. Tonight, DD has Girl Scouts. They're doing Mother's Day Tea Party for all the moms. The worst part about GS is the location. The room they meet in is so dreary. It's a very depressing looking/feeling room. But the girls are excited, so I will be excited for them. And I will have an absolutely amazing time sipping tea and eating cakes with DD.

Today's goals: find DTD time on the schedule, create packing list, and check kid's summer clothes

What's on your agenda for today? What is your plans for Mother's Day?

Love, love, love all the shirts! I don't shop at Walmart, but maybe I ought to head over there to look at shirts.

I like the Mario Bros. bag too.

It really isn't all that bad taking a bag into Disney. I've been in and out of the bag check line in under a couple of minutes each and every time.

Glad everyone seems to be feeling better.

Thank you! I haven't had any luck with Disney shirts at Target - and those are really the only places I shop (Target is preferred, but will hit WM sometimes).

I know its not Disney, but DS is already a gamer. He plays Dig Dug every day and dressed as Mario for Halloween (he's a total fan and will be super hyped over the bag).

We took in a backpack everyday in 2009, and yes, we were in/out of the bag-check line really quick - but it was so much nicer to not have to go through the extra line last year, as well as not worry about keeping up with the bag. :goodvibes

Thank you! Sending :goodvibes for Cookie!!!

What's on your agenda for today? What is your plans for Mother's Day?

I love the shirts and the duffle bag! The socks are awesome! Odd that you found boy socks and not girl socks. Usually it's the other way around.

Boy can I relate to the hair!! My mom is a hair dresser and has cut my hair for years. One time I went to a hair dresser at college and he butchered my hair so badly I drove 500 miles home to have Mom fix it.

My mom is very, very, good at short styles, but not so great with long hair. So I started going where she goes to get her hair cut when she is in Florida. I said I wanted long layers, and thankfully my top layer is long not short! BUT, she put sooooo much distance between the layers. I don't like it. When I don't have it up, it doesn't lay right unless I curl it. Unlike you, I have stick, straight hair and my hair is very fine. Not sure how to ask for it to be cut next time? Or if I can wait until I go visit my parents this summer to pick up Grumpy and bring him home?? My last hair cut was Dec. I have been trimming my bangs and have split ends galore!

On agenda today, is waiting for the fence people to come again. Our fence was hit by strong winds on March 31 and 2 sections of it were knocked down. Tomorrow they will repair the fallen fence.

As I was typing the fence people came. There was a big snake at the door. BLECH!!! They got rid of it for me.

We have no Mother's Day plans. Probably go to church then maybe hit a park?? I think dh actually has off on Mother's Day!

What are your Mother's Day plans?

:thumbsup2 Love all your purchases!!!
Sorry to hear you didn't like your haircut. It may take some playing around with it to really fall in  with the new do! I know that I am the same exact way about my hair.

Too funny to hear that Seth was Mario for Halloween last year, so was Jay. I need to post a pic. :lmao: Jay :love::love: Mario!

Glad to hear that DS is on the mend and back to school. Still crossing my fingers that you and fam don't come down with it. Just keep on sanitizing!! :rotfl2:

Thanks for the compliments on the loots! I was shocked I couldn't find Disney girl socks. They had Hello Kitty, but no Disney.

I can cut long hair (even with layers) very well. I can also cut dad's - I've cut his for years. I don't cut my kid's hair because I'm just lazy. :lmao:

I've been trying to keep the bottom layer cut shorter, to close the distance, but this girl made it worse. :sad2: My shortest layer is about 4" from the scalp at the crown, and then my longest layer falls on my shoulders. It's awful. I checked, i can't even pull the front into a barret. I don't know how I'll get this to work for WDW ... but at least I have a couple of weeks to play around with it. It's going to look completely awful curly, since the top layer is so short.

If I was nearby, I'd give you a trim so your hair will be split-end-less! :thumbsup2

Sorry to hear about the fence. Glad that it will get repaired quickly. And sorry about the snake! :scared1:

The only Mother's Day plans I have is tonight. I dunno if DH will do anything special or not. His birthday is Friday, so we may just go celebrate everything on Saturday with an early dinner out. I think hitting a park would be :cloud9: for Mother's Day! I'm a bit jealous you have the option. :lmao:

:thumbsup2 Love all your purchases!!!

Oh, we need to compare Halloween photos! Seth was Mario and DD was Princess Peach!

Thank you for the well wishes! We're keeping scrubbed up as best we can!!
