May 2011: The kids are getting 3rd visit surprise! Now w/pics!

I am going to guess A.

Anakin has personalized Mickey ears. He got his first pair with his baby's first cut at the Harmony Barber shop on Main St, with free monograming. We bought him the traditional black ears a couple months ago when he outgrew his other ears. This time we had to pay $7 for the name embroidered.

We all have dream ears. We had stopped to look at the birds at the Animal Kingdom. On our way out of the display a CM was there with dream ears, because we were at the right spot at the right time!

I've seen those adorable pictures of Anakin wearing his Mickey Ears. :goodvibes

I can't believe you all have Dream Ears! :woohoo: That is too awesome!!!!! What do they look like? I'm curious now!

Ready for another round? This one is about Mickey Ear Hats. :thumbsup2

Which of the following Mickey Ear Hats have we purchased over the years?

A) Pirate Princess
B) Princess
C) Red Pants
D) All of the above
E) None of the above

Do you (or kids) have any Mickey Ears? Which one(s) do you have? Did you get them personalized?

I, personally, do not have any Mickey ears. :sad1: I spent all of 2009 searching for the PERFECT pair. I never found them. I glanced around in 2010, but never saw them either. I want a pair that yells my name. The whole room just stops when I turn to them. A light shines from the heavens above and choir music can be heard in the background.

...

Oh, sorry. Got a bit caught up in my daydream. :lmao: No, seriously, I haven't found MY Mickey Ears yet. Perhaps 2011 is the year. :goodvibes

I am going to go with D. all the above. Actually I can't decide on one so I am covering all my bases. One's got to be right, so I can take at least partial credit right.:lmao:

So. . .what is your grand prize going to be?:lmao::lmao:

Liam has 2 mickey hats. One he got in a gift basket from our Wish volunteers and are basic ears. (Somehow the elastic was cut off.:confused3) And I just bought him Cars themed mickey ears at the DO for $3 and couldn't pass up the price. I got a white ball cap with Mickey on it in sequence (probably seen a pic in my PTR. Love the hat:love:) But I might buy a mickey ears if I find the right one at the park. I have looked on the Disney Store Web site and haven't seen any I like.:sad2: I guess I am picky.

I love that you tape shows and watch them later fastfowarding the commercials. I totally do that. ( Like tottaly dude:hippie:) That way I can pause, rewind, or stop when the kids need (bug) me. How did we ever get through life with out Tivo.:confused3

Interesting pick, Corrine! Interesting. :scratchin

My grand prize is the fact that you'll know my family better than anyone else. :p And I will allow you to take your own trip to WDW and write up a TR that I can stalk, err, follow. So, much like you grand prize. ;)

Only, I don't educate you all things WDW, I educate you on my family. :lmao::rotfl2:

I wish we had a DO nearby. :( We have a DS in Knoxville, but I go to Knoxville about once a year (or so), and usually not to the area the DS is located. Actually, its been so long since I've been to the DS, I don't know if its moved (again) or not. :confused3

I think there's a DO in Sevierville, but that's even further than Knoxville! :scared1:

I do have a Disney ball cap, but its... crud, I can't remember if its Maleficient or the Evil Queen and it says "Don't hate me because I'm evil" or something. I'll have to go check. It's boxed up, and will be coming out soon anyway to be packed.

I don't like any on the website either. The kids Ice Cream one is adorable, but I'm not "legally" a kid. :rotfl2:

I really do think the DVR is on my top 10 list of awesome inventions! I hated missing shows, or planning around them - no, we can't go out to dinner tonight, Xxxx comes on at 6:30. :sad2:

I'm afraid my DVR might give out soon, though. :scared: It won't delete some of the shows. I've rebooted it and everything, but it just won't delete a couple of shows that I've watched.

The only thing about watching everything later is having to avoid FB and Twitter and such so I don't catch any spoilers. But its totally worth it in the end! :thumbsup2

I am going with D -- all of the above.

I don't have Ears...never have. I'm not much of a hat person (although I'll be buying a princess pirate hat this year for the MNSSHP). Mark never had Ears either, but both of the kids had the basic black ears with their names on them the first time they went (then they both got the Goofy hats with the long ears for themselves and their grandpa).

I'm going with "D".

My girls have Mickey ears... oldest DD has Pirate Princess, and youngest has a pair that are more of a headband. They're plush pink leopard print!

I think I will go with B - Princess.

I was reading someone else's TR and they said they have a place in DTD where you can design your own Mickey Ears.....So you may want to keep your eyes peeled for that when down that way. I think they also have a place that you can build your own Light Saber in DTD, too. So if you, hubs or the kiddos are in to that kind of thing, I think it would be worth checking it out. :thumbsup2

Another vote for D. Interesting! :scratchin

I'm not a hat person either. I have a ballcap - but it was only bought in 2009 because I got sun poisoning and wasn't about to slow down for my first trip to WDW. :lmao:

I spent all of 2009 looking for the Goofy hats. Found them in 2010 and couldn't bring myself to paying the price for them. :sad2:

Hmm... another vote for D. Interesting still. :scratchin

Maybe I should get a headband one! That's an idea!

Well ... a non D vote. Sweet! ;)

I thought the "design an ear hat" store was at MK. :confused3

And yes, you can build your own light saber in DTD. I forgot about that!!! DS did that last year. DD and I went to Goofy's Candy Co to stock up on candy and DH and DS went off to window shop. DS came into the Candy store threatening me with his new light saber. It was a hoot! He still plays with it, but its in pretty bad shape (he bent it).

I wanted to do the MLP kit for DD, but she just wasn't interested. And I felt weird doing it for me. :lmao:

I will have to ask DH where the light saber store/area is ... since I wasn't actually there. It was really cute, though! It makes noises and lights up. :thumbsup2

I just reviewed the TR again and it is called "World of Memories" in DTD. They look to have a huge selection. The little girl who did her "ears" came up with a really cute and funky design. It was very original. What kind of "ears" do you think you would do, if you were designing your own???

Any big plans for Cinco de Mayo today????

I'm also going to go with D) All of the above

The only Mickey Ears that my kids have are ones that Emily got from The Disney Store when they had their opening about a year or so ago. I've tried to buy them for the kids in WDW but nobody wanted them:confused3 They do have plenty of hats and visors though, alot of them are Disney too. I make sure the kids at least have a hat with them everyday in the parks, even though I make sure they have sunblock on, I still stress about the sun!

I dunno what I'd do if I designed my own. I'm really not sure of the options. :confused3

We didn't do anything for Cinco de Mayo ... but we did take DH out to eat for his birthday (which is tomorrow - but everywhere here is on hour + waits starting around 5pm).

What about you guys?

Out of the times I had been to the Disney store in Knoxville, I had never seen ear hats. I thought it was a WDW/DL only thing.

DS always wears his Cars ballcap in the parks. DD usually wears a Disney ballcap, too. She has Camp Rock, Hannah, and a Princess one that she rotates out.

And I don't blame you for stressing over the sun! I had sun poisoning in 2009, so yes, I stress about it too!!!

Happy Birthday, to your DH!! I hope he comes out of his cranky mood to celebrate today!

Happy birthday to your hubby! Hope you both have a great day today!:cool1:

Thank you! He'll be fine! Especially when he takes a bite of his cookie cake that we'll pick up from Great American Cookie Company tonight.

Thank you!! We'll have a super day today! :cloud9:

Today, I planned on spending the afternoon with DD. Her grade was "partying" at the park (across the street from the school). It was their end of the year celebration - they grilled out for lunch and played on the playground. As I was hanging out with DD and one of her friends, my sister (#3) dropped me a text and asked if I was busy. She was struggling with Liz and was trying to decorate a cake. As much as I hated missing out on playing with DD, I knew she needed a break, and offered for her to bring Liz to the park. We played at the park with DD for a bit and then I took her to McD's for lunch (as DD's class was breaking for their grilled lunch). So I'll have her most of the afternoon. I miss the little bugger, and I hope that DD understands.

I was talking to DD last night and asked her if she was upset that we weren't doing anything "fun" this year. She chimed in, "YES WE ARE!" :scared1: And she reminded me that we're going to DollyWood. :lmao: She never mentioned WDW, so I'm confident that she doesn't really know. She may be hoping, but doesn't KNOW. :thumbsup2

Today, I enrolled DS in Kindergarten. :sad1: He goes on the 16th for his official Brigance testing. He scored a 96/100 on his last one, so I'm hoping for a perfect score!

Next Friday, he graduates from PK. I'm already misty over it all. I've enlisted Mom to come help, so I can enjoy the program and she can focus on pictures.

Yesterday, the whole school had Field Day (pics coming soon). I was very proud of DD's class, they won the Tug-o'-war Championship. :cloud9:

Tonight, when DH gets home from work, I'll have dinner on the table for him. Then we'll go to the mall and get a cookie cake for him. We'll check the shoe store for new shoes for him (his tennis shoes broke). Then we'll head home. We went out to eat last night for his birthday (his choice: Olive Garden). He bought himself some video games for his birthday, I have no clue which ones. :confused3

Happy Birthday to your hubby. Tell him he shares a birthday with a very special man in my life -- my dad (he would have been 85 today).

Happy Birthday to your hubs!!!
Olive Garden sounds sooo good. I haven't been in ages. Do you guys go to the one in Pigeon Forge? I know you said the wait is sooo long. I know it is getting close to tourist season.
The party in the park sounds great. I am sure DD understood that you had to get Liz. When do the kiddos get out of school again? Jay gets out June 3rd and Kay get out June 6th. We will almost be finished with our WDW vacation by the time school is even out....
I am glad to know that DD doesn't have a clue. :lmao: It will make the surprise so much more fun!!! Cannot wait to see pics of Field Day!!! :cool1:

How do you break your tennis shoes? :rotfl2: Did the soles fall off. I had a pair that I wore for so long that wore a hole in the sole.
How did I know he would get video games? :rotfl: It is great that he picked them out for himself. At least, he got what he wanted.....:rotfl2:

Hubs got me a Sabakawa (sp") pillow for my birthday the first year we were married. We had been to BB&B and I had said I couldn't believe anyone could sleep on that thing. (It is filled with corn husks or rice or something) Well, he turned around and got it for me for my bday. :confused3 I asked him why he chose that pillow when he gave it to me and he said I told him I liked it. That right there shows that he doesn't listen to a think I say. I was a little irritated because it was pretty pricey, but now we get a good laugh out of it.

Cinco de Mayo celebration at my sister's casa last night. She put on the feed bag with chicken fajita nachos and regular nachos and all the fixings to go along with them. SO good! Well, it was good to my mouth but not to my belly. Sooooo incredibly sick last night. Must have been some of the spices or something. I am starting to agree with you about Mexican food. :scared1:

Thank you!

We're over an hour away from PF, so we rarely go there. We have an Olive Garden in town, but it's been horrible since it opened. Last night was the first time we actually had a good experience. :sad2: Typically, if we want OG and we prefer to bypass the local one, we go to Knoxville.

DS graduates next Friday (13th) and DD gets out 5/19. He goes the following Monday (16th) for his Kindergarten testing. They have orientation for the next school year late July and start back August 1st.

DD was sad I didn't stay all day (and I think her teacher was, too), but I know how it is to be soo frustrated with your child that you just don't know what to do anymore. So I felt it was best for her to come play with Auntie and I was able to spoil her. :goodvibes She handled it like a big girl though (DD, that is). I'm very proud of her for being a good sport.

That's just nuts that you'll be almost done with vacay when your kids get out. But I truly don't blame you one bit for pulling them early. I pulled DD for a whole week in April last year.

I need to load those pics, but so lazy today. I got sunburned from Field Day, and its just kind of drained me. :sad2:

I had shoes that I wore a hole into. I discovered this hole on Black Friday in the pouring rain. :sad1: It was not fun to spend the rest of the day with a wet foot shopping with all the other insane parents. :sad2:

DH's shoes had the soles come off. It was like the glue just decided it was done. We got them at an outlet in PF a couple years ago, so it wasn't surprising that they did fall apart. He bought a pair of sneakers today at Target (on clearance) that he'll try to break in before we go.

I have never heard of that type of pillow, but it sounds... painful. :confused3 So I'm thinking ... we were twins separated at birth and so were our DH's. :lmao::rotfl2: When we were driving to OG the other night, he commented on a new building in that area - wondering what it was. I told him a Tire store. He said that he had no clue they were putting in one there. I reminded him that we have had this conversation about 5 times already. He never listens to me.

Your party at your sisters sounds like a blast! Sorry to hear it upset your tummy though. I hope you're feeling better today!

Today, after I dropped off Liz, the kids and I went to the store. I asked them what we should cook DH for dinner. They decided steak, broccoli (with cheese on the side), mashed potatoes, and macaroni & cheese. I also grabbed some ice cream (French Vanilla, his favorite) with some Magic Shell and sprinkles. I had dinner almost ready when he walked in the door. I was surprised that I actually cooked the steaks about medium rare! Perfect!

After dinner, I asked what he wanted to do. He said just lounge around. So I started to head for the shower, and he changed his mind. He wanted to go get his cookie cake and shop for new shoes. So we went to the mall and picked up his cookie cake and hit several stores looking for shoes. He had no luck. We stopped by Target (for sunscreen) and checked out their shoe selection. He found a nice pair on clearance. So he has shoes again. :thumbsup2

We came home and tore into the cookie cake. The entire time, we kept joking "Oh no! My face fell into the cookie cake! I guess I have to eat it all!" And other things like that. It all stemmed from when he was showing DS what it looked like in the mall, his finger "slipped" into the icing. So we made a big joke about it. Especially since we both love  cookie cakes and we have to struggle to share. :lmao::rotfl2:

So now I have one more item to cross off my shopping list. I bought the spray bottles - 2 cans, Sport - so its water resistant. This will allow us to sweat a little bit without it wearing completely off. I also picked up a bottle of sunscreen lotion for our faces (its easier than the spray).

I think this weekend I'm going to wash up the new clothes I bought and hopefully get the kids packed next week. They don't know about the new shirts. They only know about the shorts. So they'll be excited to have new shirts. DD was begging for new shirts when we were short shopping. She "needed" new shirts. So she'll be super excited when she unpacks at CSR and finds she has several new tops!

Well, I think that's all for now. Thanks for DH's birthday wishes! :grouphug:
