May 2011 Code Watch

[disney newb]

We are now booked for May 13th 2011 - May 23rd 2011. I'm hopeful of some type of discount or free dining as it is not going to be cheap. Bob Iger said they would not be offering discount in 2011, but I'm not sure they will be able to stick to that.

Does anyone know what, if any, discounts or offers they offered this May 2010?

That is a handy page. Looks like they only give out room discounts during our time. The kids deals won't work for us because we have none.

We're booked at the CBR again and can't wait! We wanted to do 4/30 - 5/7..but for the life of me I couldn't figure out why it would be $70 more than the following week. Lightbulb - late Easter! So we moved it to 5/6 - 5/13 so we'll be there for Mother's Day.

I hope we'll beat the Easter crowds, will catch the end of the F&G festival (for the PLAYGROUNDS!), miss Star Wars weekends, and be there for Mother's Day. Yay!

And yes, a discount would be nice...money well spent but WOW...paying for my kiddo this time was painful - ha ha ha!

And actually the CM on the phone was clueless...put my DD in as still being 2 at the time of the trip...which will not be the case...she'll be 3 and a half. I felt guilty and made him correct it...she could probably pass for 2 but I didn't want the Mouse Patrol to arrest me while on vacation...

New Discounts 8-16-10

With Disney reporting advance hotel bookings down 9% earlier this week, it’s not surprising we hear a new round of discounts will hit the streets this Monday, August 16.

Word is that there will be three discounts. And before we get to those, let’s remember that this is all speculation and innuendo, told by people of questionable moral character. It’s entirely possible we’re completely wrong.

First discount is an extension of free dining, through September 2011. This comes with a considerable number of blackout dates, including Spring Break, Easter and most of Summer 2011.

Second discount is some kind of gift card offer, with a 5- or 6-night minimum stay. We hear sales of park merchandise are slow, and this is designed to address that. No idea how long this offer will last.

Third offer is a room-only discount, something like 20 or 25% off value resorts (and either AKL or WL – not sure which), 30% off moderates (and one of the MK deluxe resorts), and 40% off the remaining deluxes. We hear there are fewer blackout dates on this one. Not sure of how long this offer will last, but it’s possible it’s good only through March 2011.

I saw the discount/special offers rumor here on the boards. I sure hope they offer something the last week of May/first week of June. From the info I found here on the boards, Summer travel doesn't start until June 4th which is the day we would check out. Keeping my fingers crossed for something. But I'm wondering if they will offer something that far ahead of time.

I don't think we will see a whole lot for May tommorow. I am afraid we may have to wait quite a bit longer. If I got a great code, I would go ahead and book the couple of days I want before our cruise next year, but I just don't see it happening.

I was able to use the % discount at the CBR to book our May, 2010 package. I was afraid that it as for room only but I was able to add tickets and the dining plan and still keep the discount.

I'm planning on going from May 21-31. Anyone remember if any deals were offered during that time last year? Did the room resort discount apply? I really think that they won't do a free dining during that period. too close to memorial day.

Anyone else bummed that mosst of May does not include free dining? Guess we will need to wait a while longer for a discount.

I agree, I am bummed. Seems like the picked the busiest week to offer the discounts. I thought the point was to get people to go during the not busy times. Oh well, hopefully something will come out in a couple months for the rest of May.

I am soooo Bummed. we had 4 rooms Grand Gatherings for may 1st-May 15th2011 at POFQ but now I don't know what to do. I guess we'll sit tight and just hope for something discount wise down the road? but I Truly am Glad for all the people that this round of discounts has helped.

I was going to say it doesn't make sense as to why they wouldn't include part of May in the free dining...only 5 days? Typo, please let it be a typo...
