I am also hoping for the same. I remember booking for January in Nov and the discounts were NOT out yet for May. They came out in early March if I recall correctly - AND for 2010, it was almost the same price for me in May as it was in January (give or take a couple hundred dollars). I am holding out for something in May - and if not, will just be paying the rack rates I suppose.

Perhaps because Disney released discounts so soon this year, they will release May's discounts earlier as well. I'm seriously hoping for some Disney magic, and hoping they saved the best discounts for last.

I don't think you will see free dining during the flower and garden show. It's popular with the locals . Why would dis want the restauraunts full of non paying people.

The show ends the middle of May and even the beginning of May is still the end of the show. I would think the locals would go more toward the beginning. It starts in March.

As I said before, I booked my family's vacation using the free dining promo. My mother wants to go with us but wants her own room. The free dining only saves her about $350.00. That may sound like a lot but a % off a room would be better for her since she's paying 100% of her room. I don't know what to advise her to do.....book now with free dining just in case Disney doesn't release any other promos for May or wait and see if they do.

I just ran the numbers for our family. If we got free dining it would save us approximately $1200 over the 14 nights that we're there (2 adults, 2 kids under the age of 3).

Here are the scenarios for our family (May 7-21); all values in CDN $:

Free Dining saves ~ $1240
14 nights CSR w/ 30% AP discount saves ~ $ 915
7 nights Poly/7 nights CSR with 40%/30% AP discount saves ~ $1960

So basically, it's looking like free dining will be the best discount our family will see unless we decide to splurge and stay at the Poly for the first week AND if the same AP discounts come out next year. I don't get why we're getting the shaft. Really, in the grand scheme of things, the only people that will win out if discounts come out for May are the people staying at deluxe resorts.

Just ran some more numbers...if the get 7 nights for the price of 4 deal comes out we'd save ~$1150 for 14 nights at CSR, and ~ $2260 for 7 nights Poly/7 nights CSR. Again, free dining still beats this deal if staying at a moderate but doesn't touch it if staying at a deluxe.

Maybe this is Disney's way of filling up the deluxe resorts because now people will be thinking that they can stay in a deluxe resort for the same/similar price of staying rack rate at a moderate. Ah the psychology....

The deluxe rooms are so absurdly over priced. I don' t think they could fill them up without a discount. I saved 1100 just with a 20% AAA discount.40% would save me another 1200. Free dining would only save me about 1050. So yes I really want 40% discount.

Thinking we may shorten the May trip by a couple of days and book a trip in late September too to get free dining and be able to go at Halloween time. We could then do 2 trips for the price of 1 not including airfare.

I was hoping for May as this will be my second trip and were taking my little brother. This trip we wanted to focus on the water parks because we didn't do it last time. My mom is letting me take my bro out of school for a week but just noticed the only week with FD is the week of finals.

I have two choices now go in May and hope for a promo if not downgrade to a mod from a deluxe. I wouldn't mind but I fell in love with WL and we know my bro would love it to. My other choice is to go in Feb.

Well I'm off to go make many fake email accts and act like I'm interested in a Trip and hope for a pin code. Hows Feb weather guys at the world

Feb can be iffy. It can be nice but it can be lows in the 30s too. I'm from the northeast but those 30's in Disney feel really cold! I also tend to worry what the weather will be like at home for flying.

It is way too early to panic that there won't be discounts in May.

my DD's band is going to be playing there the first week in May and we want to go see her play. I'm sad because it's a black out week for free dining.

Anyone know how many bands will be there in April and May? Is that why free dining is blacked out?

Not the OP but my guess would be Magic Music Days, they can involve bands and choral groups and I think they run year long. There should only be a few bands there at a time, I do not think it impacts crowds in any way. It has been going on for a while... I went with my high school in 1999!

The first thing that came to mind was pop warner when we went our first trip I remember hearing about that

We've been a few times when bands are down and they didn't seem to affect the crowds at all. They're more like a preable to the afternoon parade. The bands do, however, bring with them quite a posse of followers but, as with all large groups, they're quite easy to tour around.

It would be REALLY nice to get any sort of discount for our trip in May. It will be our very first trip and we are about 3000 miles away, so any money we can save on our package would allow us to make our trip that much more special.

I checked and last year we got a pin code October 11th for 40% off. I'm hoping we will get something like that again this year for May of 2011. I'm not worried about when it will come yet, but I sure am hoping for a discount.

subbing. hoping for a PIN for the second week in May. I've saved a few "scenarios" which seemed to work for me last time. I am also anxious to get to AKL in October and see what, if any, BB are being offered. Otherwise, we may do out anniversary trip at Bonnet Creek offsite!

I'm completely stunned that free dining is blacked out in early May. HUH??? I just booked our May 6-13 vacation at the Beach Club Villas a couple of weeks ago. We picked that time period on purpose, because it is the last chance to bring our DD during the "off-season" before we're stuck having to go during peak season (she starts kindergarten in August 2011). I was hoping for a 40% off PIN code when it got closer....but I'm doubtful that's going to happen now, given how far in advance the discounts have been released. Now I'm just feeling a bitter taste in my mouth that everyone else gets free dining and we don't. (We paid for the DDP on our reservation!).

This just makes no sense to me whatsoever.
