May 2009 code watch

Just booked the AKL concierge level yesterday for May 10-16th. That is the second half of our split stay with POP May 4th or 6th to the 10th. The reservation agent said something about my AP rates coming out on Sept 27th, if they offer one. I think she meant AP discounts but maybe she meant AP package rates will be confirmed then? I am not sure what that means, if anyone wants to explain :confused3

My daughter and I are looking at May 4th to the 7th. I have a question tho..in order to get the discounts do you have to have the reservation made and a deposit put down allready?...Also do you have to call the reservation line or can it be booked online?.

We are hoping to go 9th-20th as well! This will be our very first trip so I need all the help I can get!!

Wendy

You will love it!!!! pixiedust: It's truly such a fun vacation! I like the idea of having that many days for a first trip- WDW is huge and having that much time will enable you to have a little down time at the resort. Have you started making plans other than the dates? What resort are you thinking about?

I got a quote from Dreams Unlimited for the Port Orleans Riverside. But I am feeling so overwhelmed with how knowledgeable all you guys are. I feel totally inadequate to take on this vacation, lol!

The best thing you can do is research! The DIS was so helpful when planning our first trip. :thumbsup2 I would also recommend buying the Passporter. It's all the great info in one place. Passporter.com. You won't regret it. :goodvibes

Thinking about early May. Would be our first family trip.... dh's first trip ever, dd's first trip ever, and my first trip in 15 years!

May 19-26th pofq. but should we take 11 month old DS our DS6 says yes but doesn't fully understand how much stopping we will have to do with diapers feedings etc. I am leaning toward no is that wrong? he will be 11 months at trip time DS5 will be 6

That would be awesome Free dining in zMay !! I did get the ticket upgrade this Feb !! I am still so unsure about going in May for lower crowds but more heat, Feb is value season but cool, and March is good wether but high crowds !!Any thought!!

We went in Feb '08 and it was very crowded. We were there the week before President's week. I thought it was value season too and expected low crowds. We were there in May of '06 and while it was hot, it wasn't unbearable and we really enjoyed it. That's why we opted for May again. Plus we can spend some time at the water parks and pool. It was too cold for that in February. I'm really looking forward to it.

There are many people who say that kids this young won't get anything out of the experience. I strongly disagree. We were there for my oldest son's 2nd birthday in 2005 and for my youngest son's 1st birthday in Feb 2008. I remember thinking in 2005 that I wished I had brought him sooner. I really felt that way after taking my youngest in Feb. He had an absolute blast! He was amazed by everything he saw and there were only a few things he wasn't able to do. He saw all the shows, loved the parades, warmed up to the characters on the 2nd day and rode most of the rides. He was pointing at everything and squealing with delight. I wouldn't miss that for the world. Now, at 18 months he loves Mickey (or "Key" as he calls him) and lights up at the sight of him. For us the feedings weren't a problem at all - he was eating regular meals with us by then and we just took snacks and his sippy cups. Diaper changes weren't a big deal either. But that all depends on your kids. We are very much an "on the go" family from the day they come home from the hospital. We're not the type that schedules our day around their naps - when they get sleepy, they nap in the stroller. If they are too interested in what is going on, they may not nap but may crash earlier that night. I have always called them my "portable" kids because we can go and do anything with them. (I realize not all kids are like this - my niece and nephew are perfect examples). I say take him - you'll have some great memories to look back on. Just my opinion . . .

thank you so much for your post our DS5 is "portable" as you say not sure about Alex yet hes too young to tell. he ate some rice cereal for the first time last night.

We are looking at going May 29-June 6.It will be me,my mom,and my three youngest children,DH and DS12 don't like Disney.:sad2: We are going to stay at POR.:goodvibes
