May 18, 2013 Magic EBTA Part Two - From Tejas to España

My first cruise was on the Wonder out of LA. I had found an app on my phone that kept me posted on the time for the ship to come in. A friend that was staying in our room came in at 1am and then the ship very quietly and quite dark came in around three. It was cool to see from the hotel but then I could not sleep after that and for a 3 day cruise being tired was not a great way to start. When we did Alaska we were able to watch her sail under the sister bridge to the Golden Gate in Vancouver, it was not easy to wait for them to get off the ship so we could get on. We were second in line and got to know the people in front of us. I was offered the "family of the day" title but felt the people in front should get it. They were called but the CM let us board with them and we took pictures for them. It was fun but odd to be on an empty ship. Yes I can't believe that I gave up the family of the day but the other family appreciated it and it still makes me smile. I don't think I would even remember them but the memory makes me happy.

That was a wonderful thing to do and that's one of those "smile" memories. :cloud9:

Yeah, I'm quoting myself. :rotfl: I've heard from most of the folks in Brunch Group 1 but Brunch Group 2... some of you are slacking!!:laughing:
 

Palo Group Brunch

*If you are interested please PM me your your names and party size. I will request full names and reservation numbers before I send in our request. We can have a minimum of 12 and a maximum of 14 for each. I'm trying to keep each group around 12-13 for comfort. I will add to the groups on a "first come, first served basis". I will put in our request to DCL in March. We should receive confirmation 30 days before we sail*

I just went and looked and realize that we're in group one. I thought we were group two. I feel pretty stupid :rotfl:. So, I sent you a PM a few days ago, but I hope you noticed my info was wrong about which group.

Some of the rooms may face another direction versus the port, and the bend is definitely blocked by buildings. Because we are the second terminal away (to the left when facing the water), we have a better chance of a good view I think, but you'll still definitely get a better view by walking over there. Lots of areas to go to - and the restaurants on the harbor are closed that early so you have their outdoor seating areas to walk onto.

I will contact port authority that week to get a more definite time. Someone in our "Welcome to Texas" DIS group that met down there was able to call for info when we went in September to watch her sail in. Will definitely update everyone at the Meet-and-Greet. :thumbsup2

I woke up at about 3AM. Apparently the 2 year old had joined us in bed, sleeping perpendicular to me, and thought my ribs would be great for kickboxing. Hubby had relocated to her bed. So I was awake and did some reading online. Got a few more hours before the 6 year old decided to come tap me on the shoulder at 7:15am to ask if I could download a game to her iTouch.

So is that a :furious: or :mad: emoticon :rotfl2:

We have designed a form for you to input your information for the custom name badges that will be provided to you at the Meet N Greet on the cruise.....they will be similar to this design:


Please note that there will NOT be a lanyard provided, only the name badge (preprinted with your name and DISBoards name) AND a plastic badge holder (if you require one) - there is a place on the form to indicate if you do NOT want a plastic badge holder.

Just a quick reminder to sign up with your first and last name and stateroom #for the Champagne Girls Event.

Only 15 persons have thus far signed up and we need a minimum of 25 to sign up by April 18 or I must cancel the event.

Current update:

The results of this survey as of February 24 indicate that it would not be a feasible option to create lanyards. However, we will still create lanyard inserts where people can insert a common DISboards identifier into the clear pouch.

To receive a lanyard insert, please follow the instructions on this form by the April 20 deadline
As stated above, we will not be providing actual lanyards due to survey results in February. However, if you do need a "nametag pouch" to place the nametag in, the form has a question about that. This pouch will not be the sealable pouch like the one DCL provides for Castaway or DVC Members, but rather one like this - an insert to hook onto your own personal lanyard of your choosing (one that Disney provides or your own favorite lanyard you bring from home). Otherwise, feel free to place the nametag in the existing DCL badge holder that comes with your lanyard when boarding.

I updated the first page to include current info on lanyards with link to form to complete -- and deadline in red to catch attention of any new cruisers just now joining
 
Are there any updates I need to make on first post of DIS thread that lists all of our events? Remember there are many embedded hyperlinks to further information about various items listed. Please let me know if you see something to update :)

By the way - it feels like we are in full-throttle mode getting events pulled together!! :drive: I know it's only the beginning of March but it feels sooooooo much closer now to think we go on the cruise in MAY! That's literally two months!! And I know some folks from the UK are flying out at the end of April -- which is literally NEXT month!

Wait, are you sure? Shouldn't you and I be able to check in at the same time? I'm silver, so at 90 days out. My DCL page says that I can begin check in on 3/3, but that's east coast time. So 9pm my time is in 6h19m. You should also be able to check in at the exact same time as me, 9pm east coast time on 3/3/13. Check to make sure.
