May 18, 2013 Magic EBTA Part Two - From Tejas to España

We would like to participate in the Running club, but I am a new member and not allowed to send PMs yet. Please contact me for my information.

Anyone doing Iceland Air that wasn't able to book their seats before because it was too early? I was just able to "request" my seat assignments. Fingers crossed we get what we asked for.

:banana::dance3::scared: mixed emotions!

No mixed emotions here. Get me outta here and onto that boat! :lmao:

We're going through, confirming everything, printing stuff out, getting excited. First day in ages DW and I have a day off together. Probably since Christmas. We're starting to eye the large list of packables we have stacked and trying to figure out if we should do a test pack.

I just updated the running club list on page 1. If you sent me a message about joining, can you please confirm I have you listed and please let me know if I overlooked anyone! Thanks!

I swear someone posted something about hop on/hop off buses in Barcelona, but I cannot find it.

Does anyone have a recommendation? Is there even more than 1?

And while I'm asking questions, any suggestions on the best route to the airport from a hotel on Las Ramblas when we leave? What might a taxi cost or is public transportation better?

Mandygirl - if you sorted out the breakfast on your last cruise and know what you're owing, you are more than welcome to do this one! I only offered to make sure it still went ahead, but I don't have a clue what I'm doing!

Thank you for this information! Can you tell me, will they give us instructions on picking up the luggage and declaring it? We've never done this before. (The last time I was in Europe I was a toddler and the last time DH was there he was in the Navy.)

It's very easy.
First on the plane they will play the last 30 min of the flight a video with explenation.

Direct after immigrations there are luggage belts and you pick up your luggage then go thru costums and right after cosums there are people standing to take your luggage put them on a luggage belt again and your luggage will be transported to your next plane.

You yourself go thru security again after this point.
It depends on how this works because ot's different from airport to airport.
Washington Dulles has a different line for the people with connecting flights because you are in a different area then the people checking in at Washington Dulles.
But the connecting lines are always crowded and takes a long time for connecting time you need to have at least 90 min.
If you take Chicago there you need to transfer from the international flights terminal to a dometic flights terminal and then you go thru security in the normal lines...

If there are any other questions please ask them.
I fly to and from the US twice a year and thru different airports...

I did the Hoho bus last time for the med, well worth it.. it had 2 lines and each went a different route. It picked up in front of our hotel. It was http://www.bcn.travel/tours/barcelona-red-bus-city-tour?gclid=CJaZiK2Bo7YCFcw7Mgod2F0AOQ

I feel like a broken record..same thing over and over again..

On DCL website :

Air and Ground Transfers for U.S. Travelers Sailing the Transatlantic
Guests embarking on a Disney Cruise to the Transatlantic will fly into George Bush Intercontinental Airport and then take a motor coach to the Port of Galveston..

:confused3

Heard from my TA, apparently even though the website states one thing, We will be picked up at Hobby..so no worries

Just a heads-up --- If you were looking for a PacSafe product, REI Outlet (online) has some on sale. In addition, if you are an REI member, you can get an additional 20% off. (One item at Outlet, one at REI - so you can combine them both, get both discounted, and if over $50 you then qualify for free shipping.)

http://www.rei.com/outlet/search?query=pacsafe

If you are not an REI member, it is the best twenty bucks you will spend. It's a lifetime membership.

Hi there,

Since previous posters have mentioned Hop on Hop Off Buses, I thought some people may like to know that these are available in Funchal, Madeira as well, I hadn't seen these before on a couple of trips. Anyway it seems it cost 12 euros or £10 pounds and you can buy online before hand probably in dollars also. The trip for the full route is 90 mins, if not you can easily walk along the high st and take the cable car to the cafe at the top of the monte, the cable car ride which is great fun in itself.

Thanks Mandy. I have an REI dividend check too.
