May 18, 2013 Magic EBTA Part Two - From Tejas to España

Try to turn on and log into my laptop (done with a fingerprint) and it isn't working! Finally my friend arrives and informed me that the fingerprint works better when you don't have a band-aid on! This is why I need my coffee-

You have just made my Monday!!!:rotfl2::rotfl::badpc: group hug to you! :grouphug:

You are welcome. John and I are doing an afternoon tour with Laurie right after we drop off our bags at our hotel on June 1, ending at the Sagrada Familia.

:cool1: thanks to all who have sent me pm's today
to join in the linked dining group, there is now over 60 of us

:thumbsup2I would be most happy to! Do you want just one jar, or three? Would it be alright to just bring it on board for you? No problem getting it for you!!!

Oops! Saw that someone already bought it-- LMK if want more. Gotta be good to MILs.... ;0)

She is actually my ex mother in law, but we still get on really well and I see her loads! I am very lucky to have such a good relationship with her and my ex-father in law - we all went to Florida together, and also go on camping holidays together. When I think how some people don't get on with their inlaws I am very thankful!

I told her today that someone had got the moisturiser for her, and that her present would be a couple of months late (I have got her something else so she has something on the day!). She was really pleased, and then said "well, if its so cheap over there, could you get me a couple?" Arghhhhh!! So, if the offer still stands, if you could get me another jar that would be fab, but if its a hassle then really don't worry, as I already have the one that heather has got me!

Do you mind if I ask how much it is?

Soooo I saw Oz: The Great and Powerful the weekend. And it sucks. It really really sucks.

I was so excited for that movie for a couple of years and just hated it.

Oh that's too bad. My 9yr old DD and my DH really liked it.

Laurie was picking us up and returning us to our hotel and his fee is $200 US Dollars for the two of us for 3 1/2 hours though we have now opted to stay at the Sagrada Familia.

We'll be the family of four not dressed for Villains, Pirate, or Mickey Mouse Club night :scared1:. But I'm hopeful you all will love us anyway

Well, I hope your day gets better. :)
:rotfl:
I'm hopeful that once you got some coffee into you the day brightened :goodvibes

The day did get better, the coffee delivery guy arrived at 11am and I nearly tackled him to the floor. Once I had my cup(s) of coffee, my co-workers trusted me enough to go out and do our field work (I am the compent person on site so for people not fimiliar with OSHA , it means I am in charge of safety, for some reason they didn't want to put theirs lives in my hands this morning while doing some CSE :confused3) Plus I was reminded it was free ice coffee day at Dunkin Donuts and because of daylight saving, I was able to get in my 5 mile run in the daylight! And because I ran 5 milles, I rewarded myself with said free ice coffee!

Those Band-Aids can be tricky! ;)
I definitely need my coffee. I'm super bummed that it sucks so badly on the ship.
You should move to Hawaii. We don't do daylight savings here. It's happy hour the same time all year!
It isn't too horrible if you get it from room service or in the dining rooms but I do avoid deck 9 coffee like the plague! I will try and remember no DST when I am working with the HI office

Glad I could help make YOUR Monday :goodvibes

I wish I could keep my husband AND make my in-laws, ex-in-laws and the kind of ex in-laws you never have to see again.......Wishingful thinking

It looks so cool, but two of my friends gave me the same review . I still hope to see it on the boat, but now I am prepared to not really like it much.

It been discussed for a bit to have a photo walk and looks like we have numerous people interested in said walk. As of right now dates and times have not been set, but looks like we have interest in two walks, one early am (towards the start of the cruise) and a pm (sunset) walk. We are waiting for final dates for special ship activities before dates and times are set.

What is a photo walk?

Photowalking is the act of walking with a camera for the main purpose of taking pictures of things that the photographer may find interesting.
It is often a communal activity organised by camera clubs, online forums or commercial organisations, sometimes in the form of a walking tour. Often the aim is to practice and improve one's own photography skills rather than a specific focus on documentary photography.
While the camera need not be a digital camera, in practice the low cost of digital photography and the ease of digital photo processing and online photo sharing allow a casual approach in photowalking.

For whom is it for?
Anyone interested in taking pictures, independent of age, camera equipment and skill levels. There will be numerous skilled photographers taking part of the walk that will be more than happy to assist with recommendations and suggestions to improve one's photography skills.

Here are the people that signuped up (show interest).

Please let me know your interest and I will add your name to the list.

I also posted that we are organizing a photo walk on the FB group since some there are not on here and the ones that indicated interest is added to the list above (if for some reason there is a duplicate name between the two please advice)

Mandy would you mind maybe adding a link to this post on the activities listing?

PS. Quality of camera doesn't mean pictures can't be good as I mentioned in posts previously here.. I just discovered today that one of my old Flickr photos was selected Photo of the Week on Discover-central-california.com, this picture was taken with a fairly inexpensive point and shoot camera back in 2007.
http://www.discover-central-california.com/photo-of-the-week.html

I would like to join the group, I am a beginner.... point and shoot. I got a Canon power shoot s3 two years ago for Alaska and got some great shots for what I know. My favorite was my whale tail shot, very proud of it.

I have been trying to keep up with everything on my phone for the last week and I guess I have missed a few things so I was able to backtrack and add things. I added our name to the new roll call and saw that Wvurunner and grammyto4 were on a flight out of Barcelona on June 3rd. we are on flight 743 at 10:45 landing at our first layover in Philadelphia. It would be fun to have new friends traveling on not as nice of a trip back across the Atlantic, kind of depressing thinking of having to go home.

I'm putting together a small private cooking class the night we arrive in Barcelona. We've got room for one or two more people.

The tour starts at 5:00pm near the Boqueria market (on Las Ramblas in central Barcelona). Our chef will take us on a walking tour of the market, teaching us about local ingredients. Then we'll go to the chef's apartment and start cooking Spanish and Catalan food, based on what's fresh. :stir:

The class includes the walking tour, transport to the chef's apartment, instruction, the meal, and a glass of wine.

The cost is normally EUR 91,00 but I got a coupon that gives 10% off, so the price per person is EUR 81,90 or USD 107.69.

You can see photos of someone else's experience with this class at this link.

We're looking for one or two people to fill up the class. Any takers?

Eje G: Thank you for organizing the photo walks. I have a suggestion that would be a fun addition to the photo walks -- "My Best Shots."

My Best Shots allows each person to bring up to three prints of their bests photos to show others. While we are waiting for a sunrise or sunset, we can share prints, which are easier to view than displaying photos on a small camera screen. Any size print is fine (4x6, 5x7, 8x10). For those wanting to improve their photography skills, peer review is invaluable. Because the photo walk is the main emphasis, everyone must follow the three photo limit. No one wants to see 200 photos from someone's last vacation.

My Best Shots is a great tool for learning, and inspires others to get out and shoot.

Any thoughts?

Woody

Oh that's too bad. My 9yr old DD and my DH really liked it.

Glad they liked it, I think my problem was James Franco, I am not his biggest fan anyway.

Laurie was picking us up and returning us to our hotel and his fee is $200 US Dollars for the two of us for 3 1/2 hours though we have now opted to stay at the Sagrada Familia.

Thats a cool price. He's come back to me now with the night tour and for a 6.5 hour night tour it is €300 which I personally think seems quite reasonable.

:cool1:
Oh, my! :rotfl2:

I really should have written that better :lmao:. I promise we'll be clothed.

Glad the day improved pixiedust:

Sorry if I have put you off - you still need to see it on the boat to see what you think! I was just like meh and waiting for something to happen the whole way through. But I don't like James Franco and I always think it was going to be hard for Disney after Wreck It Ralph has been such a huge sucess. And those two films have come out in a matter of weeks in the UK so I think we are all still loving WIR :)

You need to showcase that shot now ! :)

That sounds really interesting, if we had more time in Barca I would love to join but we will leaving within 24 hours of getting off the ship.

A night tour sounds cool, I might have to convince my DH we should do one too.

The company has just responded to my email - €200 for a 3.5 tour and €300 for a 6.5 hour tour. Seems very reasonable and it is private so you would get the whole attention of Laurie. Perhaps if you want to speak to your DH and the 4 of us could do it and split the cost? I could ask Laurie if she/he is willing to do that?

Yay! We are on the same flight but for us, Philly is our final destination. We are all sitting in row 23, so you can either take that information to sit as far away from the baby as possible, or come sit near us so we can fondly discuss our trip and look at pictures. Misery loves company. Our long flight home will be depressing. I much rather have the long flight first, where I am excited and have something to look forward to! Maybe we can met up at the airport before our flight?
