May 18, 2013 Magic EBTA Part Two - From Tejas to España

I just read Disney's official release of the Magic renovations and saw the You Tube video. I was just wondering what all of your opinions were on the changes? I have only been on one Disney cruise and it was on the Fantasy, so I really have nothing to compare it to!?

Excited for the kids club and aqua features, but wasn't super impressed with modernizing the interior. I am personally a fan of the traditional type ships, which the Magic has. Wonder where the chandelier in lobby will end up!

BTW - After checking cabins today (any travel agent checks these things often) I noticed we still have lots of categories left for sale. Inside, outside, verandahs. Hoping it will be nice on having available deck chairs, fewer lines, etc :thumbsup2 Of course it may sell out in the next 18 days...

I have to give a shout-out to everyone who has answered all of my questions the past 15 months!! :grouphug: (Has it really been that long since booking this on opening day?!?) So very thankful for boards like these (and the other EBTA rollcalls out there) that answer the questions many of us have, give ideas, coordinate events, provide group excursions, and help create magical memories for others!! I know I could not have ever done our first DCL cruise without the help of DISboards and learning the traditions, strategies for longer cruises, etc. :cheer2:

:offtopic: Do we have any UK folks here in the Haverhill area? I know I have shared with some that my grandmother is from there, and has since passed away, but I am wanting to tie in a trip to that area before our WBTA 2014 cruise. Seeing aunts/uncles/cousins I have not seen in years, but have reconnected with via Facebook. I've only been to London (and Edinburgh / Inverness) but not the Haverhill area. If you are from that area, will you PM me so I can hit you up with some travel-related questions please? Many thanks in advance! :goodvibes

TBH I had to go look it up as I have never heard of it, so I see it's in Suffolk. Not near me I'm afraid but happy to help where I can.

According to Google Maps, it's 100 miles from me, which I guess in US terms puts it right on my front door :)

Trying to finalize things

Please check the first page and be sure you are on the activities that you want to participate in (Bunco and/or Scavenger Hunt/s. Could you please email (snreed@verizon.net) your cabin number so I can contact you with any last minute changes. (Cabin number will not be displayed on first page)

The following info is needed as well as cabin number:

***Bunco***May20--1 PM

Cabinfever2013--number and names of players
BigHugsForEeyore--number and names of players

Thanks! I have to put everything in relation to London when looking it up, and we are assuming to rent a car because public transportation is more limited in that area (correct ?) I had researched the genealogy forums in the area about a year ago and finally made connections. Even now have a copy of her birth certificate which is cool. On top of that, found her brother, whom I have met before when he came to the US. We had hoped to coerce them into joining the EBTA but they already had a Med cruise planned. Then I also came in contact with someone else big into geneaology and she jokes that we are probably related via a relative in the 1800s (she helped me trace back). It's been interesting to learn about that side of my family. (Yep - I am one-fourth British ;) ) I always tell my oldest daughter when she asks where she gets her hair color from, I say "from your English Great Grandma". (People look at me and hubby, then our two kids, and give me the puzzled look - so genetics at its finest!)

Would a few days stop over in that area be feasible you think? We are also wanting to then hop over to Germany (fly), spend about 3-5 days, then fly to Barcelona for WBTA 2014.

And here's to YOU, Mandy, for always doing your best to insure that we all have fun on the EBTA!:love::love: :tinker: a little pixie dust on you!

There is a UK disney forum called THe Dibb Mandy, I go over there but don't post much, maybe

worthwhile checking out if anyone is near haverhill on that site

My guess is a "sell out" would be unlikely.

Morning Everyone,

In previous transatlantics the same has happened on nearly all in the last couple, most cats available at the PIF or later date, however when I got to the port early on the last 2 WBTA's no upgrades available sign showing, confused. So onboard I asked a couple of CM's who I know and found out that they often take the opportunity to complete repairs, such as the welding of the bath tubs, this is why the false fire was reported on the WBTA 2010 to GS, and even store things for taking back to home port or vice versa. On some occasions CM's are even found to be occupying some of the cabins, it's quite common for some CM's to be allocated a staterooms for a couple of weeks until they can get space on decks A or B, deck C being the engines etc, this space issue was more of an issue prior to the newer ships as the ships were carrying additional crew in training for then Dream and Fantasy. If you get the chance, go down below the public decks and see how the other half live, it's an eye opener.

All that said, I hope they do have upgrades as it's probably the best cruise to enjoy one on and being great value also.

Can I just take a minute to ask people to fill in their cabin numbers for the fish extender if they have them? I have been bagging them up the last couple of days, and there still seems a lot of cabins with no number. It makes me nervous that I won't be able to unite your gift with you!

Hope I'm not stepping on anyone's toes asking this - like I say, it's because I'm bagging up I've noticed. Also, I'm on all the lists and just wanted to check a couple:

Nancyelew: you have got 3 cabins under your name, is that still correct? Do you have any cabin numbers yet?
Txcnm: I've got you with 2 different cabin numbers next to each other with Mary in both. Is this correct?

Jody they are people who are still waiting on IGT/OGT/VGT assignments, there is a possibility they might not know until embarkation. As soon as I am given a cabin number I update the spreadsheet.

I still do not have my cabin number for May 10th cruise that leaves in 10 days. :scared1:

Afternoon Everyone,

Whilst checking to see if DCL had allocated me a stateroom yet, I download a pre arrival guide from the DCL website, just to see what is was. It lists lots of interesting things such as your tablemates excursions and your own of course etc, this is because of the linked dining annotation probably. I am seated at a table normal table of 5, I think with two couples, one I know and one other couple, or at least that's what it looks like. :grouphug:

You might want to check out yours?

PS: As the cruise gets nearer my wife, is realling not enjoying the fact that she will be at work and me on the high seas:beach:. I told her to hurry up and retire, and then worked it out that she had only 8100 days to go. :joker:she wasn't impressed.

I've just checked mine!! Looks like you might be our table mate!

Binkytell I know you've been doing a fab job updating. It was just in case there are people with cabin numbers that had forgotten to update you - I know there is still going to some that haven't got them yet (hurry up disney, don't you know I need cabin numbers to write on my bags?!!).

Can't believe you haven't got your number yet for the 10th - wow. Hopefully you've got a nice free upgrade!

Your not the only one asking :thumbsup2, I've had lots of pm's asking about cabin numbers, unfortunately were in the hands of disney.

The cabins that are missing are mostly IGT/OGT/VGT, nancy was waiting to give cabin numbers as she is hoping to upgrade :thumbsup2

I'm hoping to hear today for may 10th cruise, on that thread someone mentioned Mondays seem to be the day when cabins are allocated, so presuming next Monday for the ebta maybe :crazy2:
