May 14, 2012 - Va-moose-ing to Vancouver!

I'm not very experienced with Disney Cruises, but this one has been rather confusing. The last night has vanished, and they've been telling people conflicting stories about where the Wonder will be that evening.

I'm sorry that you'll have to change your plans, but thank you for waiting it out on hold. Hopefully the supervisor knows what's really going on.

I know. I just don't understand why they don't have the all aboard time listed. Oh well..most importantly - we are on vacation! :cool1:

Well, it looks like I waited too long and won't be joining everyone after all... the TA discount sold out in record time! I was told on Saturday I had a week to book and when I called today, it was no longer available! Boohoo! ENJOY it for me!

Ok, so I get a call from my Mom, who loves to travel, that she saw a great price for repo cruise and the next thing I know, I have book, paid, and am back on the boards again. OMG!

Hi fellow DISboarders! We are Steve, DS1 Joey(27), & DS2 Danny (25)! (both young men are autistic, but such party animals, older functions at 4-9 skill range, younger at 8-15 task range)

Yes count us in for the FE, have no idea what cabin (expect cat9) we are going to be in yet, if we are doing lanyards or bracelets, we are in too.
will try to PM who ever is doing the Roster with our data in the next few days. We will be early dinner and asked for a table of 10, My Parents will probably join us for this trip too.

BTW, did I mention we did this as a B2B last year on the first Alaska trip! Had a great time doing the pub crawl in Victoria :drinking1with my Dad & DS1, and SF too!

So much to do to look at excrsions, book Palo, etc.

Talk to everyone soon.

So now I'm really confused! They changed the itenerary on the main booking page to reflect the 1 Vancouver day. But then there is a day missing...

So then are we missing a day? Tell me where I'm wrong here.
La-Vancouver is May 14 to May 21
Day 1 May 14 LA
Day 2 May 15 Sea
Day 3 May 16 San Fran
Day 4 May 17 Sea
Day 5 May 18 Sea
Day 6 May 19 Victoria
Day 7 May 20 Vancouver

Alaska May 21-May 28
Day 1 May 21 Vancouver

Also it's listed on the Vancouver port as an overnight stay...

Hello,

I am now on board for the May 14 sailing. Did MR last March.
I don't trust that supervisor. 4:30pm is the time for Victoria. Our TA said the boat will be like a floating hotel. Go to E**dia and pull up the cruise. The time shown for Sunday in Vancouver shows 7:30am - 12:00am (which means to me all night)
On the Port of Vancouver website they show "May 20 06:00 AM - May 21 05:00 PM" - Every other cruise that month shows arriving / departing on the same day.

Would like info on how this cruise will be different than MR or AK. Since it doesn't happen often I imagine there is not much info about it.

For those of you that live in the area, is the Disney Store in Burnaby worth a visit? I understand it's in a huge mall, but we're not too interested in that kind of shopping. I know it's a newly redesigned store, but SF has one, too and I've been there several times.
There's one in Seattle and I don't see anything special about it, however, Metrotown Mall is pretty cool and the Skytrain can get you there in 15 minutes for $2.50 on Sunday. Vancouver does shopping on a whole higher level. Too bad the exchange rate is only 1:1 which means many things will be relatively expensive. Not like years ago when it was 1.65 CND to 1.00 USD. Lots of cool shops near downtown so I would hope you would not waste too much time going out to Metrotown just to get a Disney pin.

It has been a bit of time since I've been out there but it really isn't worth it if you aren't going to be doing other shopping/visiting in the area. It is quite a small store and doesn't have anything unique to offer.

I am hoping he was wrong - I did call the TA line and unfortunately, that's the info I got- I am hoping it's wrong but since info on the website has changed - it may have changed as well.

I did look up those other sites and see what you are referring to...guess I will plan for one day and be hopefully surprised!

If anyone wanted a larger size of the logo for a magnet - here it is.

tomoyo I'll probably be out that way before May so I'll try and check it out and confirm if they have any pins. I don't remember seeing any but sometimes you don't see what you aren't looking for.

I too missed out on this one. We hadn't decided, and then I check the next day and BAM they are gone! That was fast, must not have been many available, either that or they changed their minds, lol.

I hope you all have a wonderful cruise!

A local celebrity TA with many thousands of followers sent out a package special on Monday for Tuesday morning booking specifically for the 5/14 sailing. They brought in tons of extra staff to handle the flood of calls so I would imagine that might have had an impact.

Please explain missed out? I still see availability online (even GTY) for all three levels.

Bill, I think they mean the great TA rates were gone. Makes me wonder how good they were!

As fas as missing out - when they offer TA rates - they offer them on certain types of cabins but there is a limited number of cabins at that rate - when they are gone - they are gone.

They were okay - not nice enough for me to rebook and chance not getting my cabin B2B :rotfl2: We want to stay in the same cabin for both cruise so we decided to stay put. When you do a TA rate - you are automatically GTY and take what they give you (you know what type of stateroom you are getting though) I think it's more along the lines that they offer only so many cabins and they go quickly.

Good to know I don't have to be too jealous. I'm happy enough with my OGT, especially since I never thought I could swing anything other than an inside cabin!

Of course - I guess it depends on when you booked - maybe I booked so long ago they didn't seem that great but I guess if you are coming onboard now they might seem awesome! :rotfl2:

Congrats on the OGT! I know what you mean - I'm usually just happy to be on the ship!

Oh that is interesting! I know DCL will work with their "big" agencies for really nice specials & packages & it sounds like they are one of their biggies. ;)

Did you book with that special too? Just curious about what it was..... we did book the TA rate (was only there for a couple days, verandas sold out on day one) & compared to the Hawaiian cruise rate, it was just a small fraction, but guess that's not saying much!! :rotfl: We used DVC points for Hawaii & it took a zillion...lol

It will be fun to go from tropical to Canada!! DH is complaining he will probably need a coat, lol, but I wish we were staying on with you Alaska cruisers!! Maybe next year. Hope you all will come back & share. :hippie:
