May 14, 2012 - Va-moose-ing to Vancouver!

Thanks for the explanation... I think I will pass as we are going to try and travel light this trip! (famous last words)

Hi everyone!

We just booked this cruise this morning with a great offer.....that we couldn't refuse! :lmao:

....and I see I just barely missed the FE cut-off!! Plz let me know if it's ok to add one more?? If so, I'll send all the info asap. It's just me & DH, we're on the Hawaii cruise so decided to stay on & do this one too! Funny, but we are just getting ready to close our FE list now, even though we leave 2 weeks earlier...and we are up to 71 rooms, so will be breaking it into groups....ahhhhh maybe should have cut it off...lol

Let me know if we can add, and in the meantime I'll go back & catch up on reading the thread. Is secret Mickey closed too? It's ok if it's too late, just thought I would ask. :hippie:
.

We also booked this cruise today and would like to join the FE group if possible. There is 3 of us, my sister,my niece(12 years old), and me!

Good Monday morning,

I was online with DCL last night checking out excursions....
what's up with the planner only showing 6 nights????? :confused3

Anyone know? Did I miss discussion of it in the thread?
Seems like the spa would be open..as well as Palo for dinner??

And, for the roll call & also if in case it's ok to add to FE:

Bev (me)
Gary (DH)
Room- GTY
Dining- main
FE - yes

:]

I think the more the merrier for the FE. Maybe we can set Feb. 29 as the last day? I think that is the paid in full day for most folks isn't it? I've got some of my FE gift supplies already but I know where to get more if I need to :goodvibes

Hi Everyone,

The FE is great fun, but we want to travel light too! We'd be interested if groups were smaller, or, even a Secret Mickey with another cabin.

If anyone is interested in doing a Secret Mickey exchange for one or two cabins, we're in! I've never done a Secret Mickey gift exchange, but since it would be for one or two cabins, it's much more manageable for our family.

We are open to more FE participants too. I sewed our FE extenders this weekend. It's getting closer now! :yay:

Sounds good! We can close it Feb 29th.

Welcome! Absolutely! We can add you to the FE - as of a few days ago, I only had once cabin interested in the SM - so we were not having one. I think we are up to 2 cabins so still not very secret :rotfl2:

Hi there - I know i have sailed with you before but can not remember which one it was this year - welcome! Just send me your info and I will put you on the roll call and the FE

....

Okay, never mind about the SM!! :lmao:

But thanks so much for the welcome & date extension for FEs, everyone! This will be fun!!

I'm still confused about how DCL is listing our cruise as only 6 nights on the planner, though....weird! Oh well...they may be trying to kick me off on Sun., but my flight isn't till Monday!! :rotfl:

For those doing San Francisco on your own, here's a link for travel zoo special

Does anyone know where the Wonder docks while we're in San Fran? I think I want to do this HOHO bus, but I have no clue if we'll be anywhere near one of the hop on points.

You're not alone! I went to book my plane reservations and didn't know when I was supposed to come home. I asked the great people over at Dreams Unlimited to double check and this is what they said:

"In checking with DCL, the ship will arrive in Vancouver on the 20th - you can get off and explore between 8:30 a.m. - and about 3:30 p.m. - everyone has to be back on board before 4:00 p.m., and the ship will leave the dock at 5:00 p.m.

As DCL does not have the authority to spend the night at the port dock, it will come back the next morning and all shore should start at 8:30 a.m.

So your flight home will on 05/21/2012"

Hope that helps everyone.

Yep, that does help a lot, thanks! I figured we would have a day there, but the really weird part for me is that Palo & the spa weren't listed as possible activities in the planner (nor were any shore excursions), and they are always offering those!!

I'm thinking once we're on the ship, if not before sailing, offerings will come out for all of those places - especially dinner at Palo & day trips in Vancouver.

......Thanks for this tidbit! It's good to know now, but I'm a little bummed by this news. I had just assumed they'd be docking for the night since there was no ashore time, so we had planned on going to the Richmond Night Market. Oh well, no Chinese street food for our late night snack. :sad1:

That does sound fun! Bummer about the leaving port.....and funny they couldn't get permission to stay...must have been too pricy!! :cool1:

Thx for adding us to the roll call & FEs, A Litle Pixie Dust!!

Okay, so for activities for May 20, try going into "My Cruise Activities", then click on the words "Day 7" in the calendar. That will bring up that day as a tab. It still shows the excursion we booked (Grouse Mtn & Capilano Bridge). Plus, for me, it's showing a "+Add an Activity" option, which seems to work when I click it. So, I think you can still get in and book things, it just isn't obvious when you look at the Cruise Activities screen. Give it a try, hopefully it will work.

It should be dock 35.

Hmm..this is not what I was told for my clients - I will check again as we made plans for that evening. There would be no reason to leave that early only to sail out a bit. (Ok - money but still) Thanks for the info but this bums me out as I planned a lot for that day! It does seem wierd that there is no time on the schedule on line.

Sitting on hold..... :(

Called DCL...rep says that we are there overnight and not sailing away...

I asked for him to check with a Supervisor - which he went off to do....he came back and informed me he was wrong - we do indeed have to be back onboard by 4PM.

I wasn't saying DU was wrong - I just had to double check as I was told differently and so I told others differently - sigh...now to rethink my plans....

I really think they should correct that so that people can make plans accordingly - what if you planned something on your own and didn't realize you had to be back?

Thanks for this advice....it worked! :thumbsup2
Too funny that you have to sort of trick technology sometimes!!

I agree, it is very confusing because it's not made clear. Another thing seemed weird when I was looking at excursions for that day. The Whistler tour was listed as 10 hrs long. If 'all aboard' is 4pm, does that mean the tour leaves at 6 am?? Guess it's *possible* (we did meet at 6:30 in Italy once lol), but it made me wonder if all aboard may actually be later still...? :confused3

Oh well. Thanks for checking, and sharing what they said. Maybe they are making it up as they go & it will change! :surfweb:

I'm not very experienced with Disney Cruises, but this one has been rather confusing. The last night has vanished, and they've been telling people conflicting stories about where the Wonder will be that evening.

I'm sorry that you'll have to change your plans, but thank you for waiting it out on hold. Hopefully the supervisor knows what's really going on.
