May 14, 2012 - Va-moose-ing to Vancouver!

Is anyone else having lots of cruise ship dreams? I had two last night! This cruise cannot possibly get here soon enough!

just wonder-ing since u have been up the coast 6 times ... our other one was princess and cunard .. so ... are the characters dressed for alaska? and do they have muesli for breakfast??

so so so looking forward to this trip with my best buddies too (my two wonderful children) .. we do everything together still ... i love it

Hi Sonja, this is actualy our 6th cruise, but we did do the first B2B last year up the coast. Yes the characters do dress in alaskan clothes, as for the muesli, I think so, or at least it was a granola.

B2B Cruisers - please be aware - you will now have two different cabin numbers. DCL has been sending out notices that due to Canadian restrictions - you can not have the same cabin for both cruises.

It seems they are changing the May 21st cabin but please let me know if they change this cruise cabin number.

Mine is changed for this cruise to 7620.

Very strange, Last year we had to be off the ship for the day in vancouver on our B2B, but we did not have to pack and change rooms. We did have to check in again and get new key to the world cards.

I think the room changes are due in part to US laws too. There was a thread in the general cruise forum about it for the b2b for the return trip from Alaska. Apparently you need a "far away port" in order to do that kind of b2b without getting off the boat, changing rooms and fully going through customs.

I'm sorry for everyone going through this. I think the DCL legal dept just realized they had a major fine problem.

Opps, the joys of being the first and ahead of the learning curve.

onekindman - my brother is joining us on the cruise - he is 20 and autistic as well :)

very cool. what is his skill range? I am sure he and my boys will have a great time.

Anyone want to link dining?

We are 5 on the early dinner but asked to sit at a table for 10 so we could meet and make friends with 5 more lucky people. Feel free to link us in if anyone would like to sit with us.

FE/Roster spread sheet has been updated with the most current at this time and e-mailed to those who pm'd me with thier address. If I hear of any changes, I will revise and resend.

love to link pm me and i will do it. love to rotate the same restaurants on the same day and talk trains or anything else ...
also AVENGERS is on our movie list

Has anyone figured out the dining rotation for this cruise? And Pirate/formal/semi-formal nights?

Repost for everyone's benefit and to increase anticipation!:rotfl2:

The calendar looks like this:
MON: Rotation / All Aboard
TUE: Formal / Golden Mickey's
WED: Rotation / SAN FRANCISCO till late
THU: Rotation / Toy Story
FRI: Pirate / Pirate
SAT: Captain's Gala (Semi Formal) / VICTORIA depart before dinner
SUN: Till We Meet Again / Remember the Magic / VANCOUVER
MON: Debarkation and VANCOUVER

This does sound correct to me. I was able to get a Palo Ressie for the Thursday night. Amazingly there are still open brunch times too, but the High Tea slots are all gone already.

Will try to PM/e-mail you the ressie number as soon as the guys are not trying to look over my shoulder.

Just got off the phone with DCL. If we heard correctly (we were on a 3 way call), these are the movies that will be shown:

John Carter
The Avengers
Chimpanzee
Toy Story 3 in 3D
Cars 2 3D
African Cats
Pirates of the Carribbean On Stranger Tides in 3D
Winnie the Pooh
The Help
Real Steel
The Muppets
War Horse

That's awesome - thanks for finding out - been wanting to see the muppets for ages!!

I asked my TA to request the rotation for formal night in Tritons and Pirate Night in Parrot Cay and she told me she put in the request for "rotation 3."

From searching this forum, in February on the Wonder, these were the dining rotations:

APPTAPT
TAAPTAP
PTTAPTA

Your welcome. :) I've been waiting for this trip to see the Muppets!

thank u so much ... got so busy .. thank u ... lets all go for that!!! hee hee:stir:

What a great list of movies. I'm excited that Chimpanzee will be playing already since it's still in the theatres. We've also been wanting to see The Muppets.

As a Canadian I strongly dislike that the problems with the back to back cruise is being blamed on Canadian Restrictions. Sorry to disappoint but it is one of two stupid US Law called the Jones Act and the Passenger Services Act (PSA) the PSA became law in 1886and the Jones Act was 1920 (google them). The part of this Law that is the problem is... “no foreign vessel shall transport passengers between ports or places in the United States, under penalty of $200 (now $300) for each passenger so transported or landed.”

The Law leaves a exemption that if the ship stops at an international port this does not apply. So stopping in Canada should be OK to satisfy this law, right? WRONG The law stipulates that the international country has to be out side of North America. This law was put in-place to protect the US Ship building. and it has nothing to do with Canada!

The Canadian Customs is trying to work around this American Law so that you can still enjoy your B2B by attempting to clear the ship and hopefully make it very clear that these are two different cruises not just one continuous cruise for those doing B2B. The law does not make it clear how long you should be off the ship for this not to be a violation of this law.

If you are interested read the laws and or Call DCL's help line regarding this but blaming it on the Canadians is just not fair. Thanks.

Got cruise documents and the itn shows we get back on the ship in Vancouver. There were previous rumors this may be the case but I did not want to believe it since this cruise was marketed as the ship being a floating hotel in Vancouver. I don't know any hotel with a 4 PM curfew. :furious: Still hoping it's a misprint. Guess we wont know for sure until we reach Vancouver but the port is reserved on the schedule for both days so they could park it overnight if they wanted to. :worried:

I wish that we could get a straight answer. We are planning on going to Whistler that day and I would like to plan the trip on my own, but I am nervous about the time we will need to be back on the ship. The Whistler trip through Disney does not have us returning until 530 pm.
