Hey MAYers!

Hope everyone is doing well. So glad that tree didn't land on your house NC.

Well, Ike made it's way to western PA last night. Can you believe that? What a mess. There are trees down and road signs down. We lost power for 15 hours. Those wind were terrible. Thankfully we didn't get all the rain with the winds.

Hey NC - those tree pics are unbelievable. Bummer about the leak.

Shelly - 15 hours without power? YIKES! Glad you didn't have any damage.

Jo -Hope you get your leak problem solved too.

KB - Glad you don't have strep...get better soon - starting packing!

Mari - Glad to hear the news, I hope everything works out with the other girl the same way.

Hi Sulley! Hi RF!

Hi Abbey! - Welcome and thanks for sharing your trip report with us.

NC...YIKES! Is the tree a total lost cause, or can it be replanted? Thank goodness it missed the house! Your brick house is so pretty, BTW...I just love the arches in the front...looks sort of story-book :goodvibes A house like that here would cost your first-born child :rotfl2: Thanks for the Houston airport info...I knew Houston got hit hard but figured they'd be up and running this week again. We are flying Continental... Watching the weather like crazy, but nothing new is brewing in the tropics so far.

The tree is a loss. They are so heavy you can't up right them. When the limbs were cut and they were cutting up the trunk of the tree, they were down to about 6 feet of tree left, the stump popped back upright from the ground. The weight of the roots, sod and base pulled it back up. From what my brother-in-law said that it is pretty common for that to happen. Thanks for the compliment on the house. You really can't see much of it for all of the tree! There are limbs piled a mile high on our curb right now.

You leave Friday, which is really like Thursday in my book. You leave right after midnight! I am so excited for you Katie!!!!

NC- good golly miss molly. Was that a willow tree? That's so sad--- I'm thankful your tree didn't go through your house. Is you Bro okay?????
Sorry to hear abput the leak again--- us too. The builder is on the way over to do something about ours- again. I'm tired of it already. Don't you love the change the towel routine in the middle of the night??????

:sad2: The towels. Don't get me started. I talked to a window guy today but got disconnected. He thought he could fix it. No word from the tree guy, and haven't called the roof, plumber, type of guy.

I just cannot imagine having been in the REAL hurricane.:sad2:

And yes, it was a willow. A Weeping Willow. We are very sad. :sad1:

I can't quite get the info on my brother if the tree is in their house, on their house, or both. It is a HUGE pecan tree. I think it may be bigger than their house.

Hello Mayer friends! I hope you all had a nice weekend. It was too short for us. We went down to DLR to meet up with some friends and met some new ones too, that played VMK.

Two of our friends are wickedly addicted to Toy Story Mania. We rode it with them 5 or 6 times from 4:30 pm to 9:00 p.m. when the park closed. I can never break 200,000, but my wife did this time. Not so with our TSM addict friends...one of them got her personal highest score ever, 329,000, the other is in the 260,000 range.

A few weeks ago, the TSM addicts were complaining about how the 3d glasses get all scratched up and how they comb through the glass bin looking for the perfect pair. Even when they found the pair they liked, they hated the disinfectant smell and residue that is left on them.

That gave me an idea to see if I could get them their own pair. I was able to find a source online that makes the same kind of 3D lenses in a sunglasses style! Ordered them and they came this week. I decided to decorate them with Jibbitz, Woody on one side and Jessie on the other side. Got them also glass case holders and decorated them with some really neat Toy Story puffy stickers that we found at the Disney store.

To say they were excited was an understatement - they were so ecstatic with their own glasses. The CMs ride operators were in disbelief that they now had their own custom 3D glasses. It was a riot to watch this play out in front of us.

I also made them some buttons too:

After DCA closed we went over to DL and met up with the new friends. They are into swing dance at Carnation Plaza Gardens that happens every Saturday night. Mickey and Minnie showed up to dance - which I found out later they rarely come by - and my son Chris danced too. Got some great video of that and I will post it later on this week.

We had a blast - very tired on Sunday - took a nap and relaxed. - Sea

Cute pics Sea! You are so creative! Looks like you guys had fun!!!

Morning MAYers!!!!! :snooty: :goodvibes

Hey Sulley, I have a question for you... My cousin Mike is joining the CP in January and thinks that he will be able to get me 6 free days in the parks :woohoo: - The only thing is that I am not sure if he has to wait for those kinds of benefits... :confused3 Is there like a probation period or something??? (We are going in May) Also, do you think that I am better off still booking a package because we will be in the parks for longer than 6 days - and then adding the no expiration option to my remaining tickets ..... I am confused  :sad2:

You get the 6 free days on your 2nd day as a CP, no waiting or probationary period. Just a head's up with the main gate pass though, he has to meet you each day to get into the parks.

Mornin-
quick fly by before i have to go shopping. Belle has grown like a weed and has NO PANTS to wear in this chilly weather. oh well, what's a girl to do?

Sulley- hey girl.... you were quite on top of that assignment. You must be the studious, honor roll, over achiever type, LOL. I love the cows. I'll need some in oh, about 1 month.;)

The Wonders of Life pavilion – has again closed as such, and most likely will only be used as a Festival Center until a new sponsor is found.

Shelley - Did you have any damage?

Nope, no damage here. Trees down all over though. Thankfully none of ours. There is a "Watch Children" sign in our yard that got blown almost over and it is leaning out onto the street a bit. I'm assuming the township will be here to fix it sometime.

Need help fast--------

(Mornin, btw, LOL. Yay to kb and her soon to be flight out of cali!  )

Shelly- Mari- anyone else that's been to CBR.....

I can switch our rooms from POFQ- I know- I'm crazy with as much as I love it--- but we could save $635 with a code. Need to know the best place to request, all about it--- etc.... Help me decide it would be good and I wouldn't regret it. Keep in mind that I really don't like the Values--- mainly b/c of the enormity of them. So I'm worried abpout that- but for that much money... I might be willing.

I need advice.

I have to go in a few mins to the doc....

give me the good bad and ugly of it all.

thanks, MAYers.

Jo

Well JO, CBR is HUGE. So if you don't like that you might not like it there. . . But that's what I love about it!! :goodvibes You can get a preferred room and would be in Martinique or Trinidad North. Right on either side of Old Port Royale (food court, restaurant, new pool, gift shops). That would probably be $12 extra per night per room. You could also "request" one of those 2 sections and still be close but not in a preferred room. We request Jamaica or Aruba. They are directly across the bridge form OPR. About a 5 minute walk across. Barbados is probably a 10 minute walk to OPR and Trinidad South is the furthest out at about probably a 15 minute walk. You rent a car, so I won't give you bus info. The resort if beautiful. The lake is beautiful. The rooms are currently being rehabbed. Ours was very clean when we stayed there. It's the only time we've ever gotten towel animals! The rooms are bigger than POFQ. 314 sq ft vs 340 sq ft. I can tell the difference! The bathroom sink area has a lot more storage space. You know how the sinks at POFQ are the free-standing type? This is more like a vanity type thing and the whole underneath is open for storage. I love that! What else. . . Well I've shown you pics of the new pool. It is huge and so awesome!! Go to Safetymom's CBR FAQ thread, lots of good info there. It's usually on the 1st or 2nd page of the Resort threads. Oh, will Mark run in the morning? CBR has a great path that goes around the lake that he would probably really enjoy.

Do you want pictures? I got pictures!! :rotfl:

Alright, I'm going to shower. Ask any questions and I'll be back shortly!

Yes, pictures. Please give me pictures. I am in such a quandry and I'm having to leave in a minute so I can't do anything about any of it until I return.
 :headache: :headache: :headache:
Mark will be running every morning--- I will try to walk as well. We both need lovely views, LOL.
Okay- it will have to be standard b/c that would be around $200 more for preferred. I'll need a spot closer to the food courts- near to a parking lot. Which bldg would that be???? oh- don't they have a fitness ctr??????? Near that too if possible.

The pool looks fab.

Tell me all about the food options (that's always important!) there too. So many questions, I know. I'm pulling up the CBR threads now on the resort forum.

Thanks Shelly-

Jo

Okay, that's all I got for now!! I'll try to find pics from our stay in 2005 later.

The food court is great! Here's the menu: http://allears.net/menu/menu_opr.htm

It's big and has a lot of choices. I think there are something like 4-5 stations, plus a grab & go market, which is very nice. There is probably everything you can get at POFQ's food court plus a lot more.

I'm not sure about a fitness center. . . :confused3

All buildings would be withing 5 minutes of the food court except Barbados and Trinidad South. I believe all villages have their own parking lot. And they each have their own quiet pool.

I think if this trip is more about the kids, they would probably enjoy CBR more. I'm not just saying that because POFQ wasn't our favorite! :rotfl: Actually I used to say I didn't like it, but after staying at CSR (:sad2: ) I now can say that I like POFQ! It just wasn't our favorite. And maybe that's what you and Mark will think about CBR, especially since you already have a favorite.

Good luck deciding!! :goodvibes

JO GO TO CBR..... i loved it there... i was in Martinique building 24 it was about a 2 min walk to OPR. I was in a prefered room. But i loved walking around the lake very nice scenery. I will look for pics and post them for you. But i will have to wait until i get home I'm at my mom's right now on my Laptop and it's a mac i don't really know how to work this thing yet. Very different from a PC.

I think saving $635 would make me like just about anything. ;)

It is a great resort, and saving money, you'll be fine. Plus it will be a new big adventure for everyone.
