Yeah chip and dale were not at chef mickey's when i went last year either...

chip and dale are at Liberty Tree tavern...
we see them every year.

Looks like I might have to try CP...

oh the angst...

:rotfl:

We had lunch at the Garden Grill last year. I had heard that the food was bad, but we went anyway just to see Chip & Dale.

What we liked - The characters were awesome! Came around twice. Spent a lot of time with the kids. The revolving restaurant was cool. The potato casserole was good. The dessert was very good.

What we didn't like - The food for the most part was awful! The flank steak wasn't edible. I don't eat fish, but DH thought the catfish was just okay. And he's NOT a picky eater. The turkey was very dry. The kids don't like baked macaroni. Then the amount of time we were there was ridiculous! We had the very first ADR at 11:00. We finally left at 12:40. I had not planned on nearly 2 hours for lunch. Very slow service. Good, friendly people, but very slow!

I ended up eating chicken strips (from the kids selections) and the potato casserole. So I didn't leave hungry or anything.

We aren't going there this year. We may go back someday. :confused3 Basically for the characters! But we are going to try Cape May this time to see Chip & Dale!

Shelly and I have similar feelings when it comes to the Garden Grill I see. The character interaction was great, but the food mediocre. But the dessert was excellent.

We did do Cape May, and it is an excellent buffet at dinner, we were not there for a character meal. We enjoyed it being away from the parks as well, for a nice quiet boat ride over with the kids.

Hmm. . . I never knew Chip & Dale were at Liberty Tree. . . I wonder why they don't list them. . . :confused3 Oh well my kids wouldn't like the food at Liberty Tree anyway. :sad2:

JO - You REALLY must try CP!! :goodvibes If your DH doesn't like it you can blame it on me!! He won't have far to look to hunt me down!! :lmao:

Does anyone know if you can get regular mac & cheese anywhere at WDW??? My kids hate that baked mac & cheese they serve. Kraft Macaroni & Cheese would be great!

Yeah i forgot all about that they were in Liberty Tavern when we went last year....

AS far as the mac n cheese-

Stouffers is a sponser for WDW, so, no Kraft dinner- isn't that what it's called in Canada, Lake???:goodvibes

The only way I could get Belle to try the Mac was to tell her MM had made it- it was Mickey Mouse Mac...
every now and then I buy some just so she will remember that she has eaten it before and liked it okay.

Otherwise, we'd be making runs to Chick fil a every day.

CP...
I'm looking at the pics and I just think Mark might have a heart attack if I tell him we are going to a buffet, LOL.

He truly is grossed out at the thought of one.

He might just say to go on without him. I don't know... I have to tell you the truth-
it's been so long since I was at a buffet, I don't much know if I could take it either. I like the idea, but........
well, I'm not going into it, again, hahahahahaha.

I'm on the fence. I'll see if I can convince him to go- then that will be the deciding factor.

Garden Grill-
I don't know. I like the whole idea of this meal but don't want to pay for gross food.

Jo

Places I want to eat at for sure-

LeCellier
Liberty Tree Tavern (why break with tradition?) BTW- they have a great lunch that isn't anything like the dinner-

San ANgel Inn- again, tradition...
Sci Fi dine in

Yak and Yeti CS
Teppan Edo
Portobello Yacht club
Cap'n Jacks
Wolfgang Pucks yum
50"s Prime Time
Ohana

ColumbiaHarbor house- tradiotion
back lot express- tradiotion

maybe Rainforest Cafe.

Suggestions?

I keep toying with the idea of Tony's. Every time I have had ressies there I end up cancelling.

Well, WDW really needs to get some new sponsors!!!

I know Nestle is a sponsor, so therefore you can not get Hershey products at WDW. And Coke is a sponsor, so no Mt. Dew for me :scared1: ! And now this Stouffers thing, no Kraft. :sad2: Oh my!!

MORNING ALL!!!:flower3:

I was just catching up on all the chatting that has been going on this morning and I wish I had more to add! I haven't been to WDW in several years so I can't remember anything about the food except Bongos was gross  and Rainforest Cafe was WAY overpriced :scared1:...

Jo, I know you were probably going to anyways, but you could always make whatever ADR's at your 180 mark and then wait for reports from all of us when we get back to make any tweaks... as long as you book the ones that you KNOW are gonna be hard to get later... that should still give you pleny of time to make adjustments i think...

...and i agree with you there's no way i would be paying for a meal that you just know is going to be bad

I am trying LeCellier, Ohana, and Sci-Fi in May, so I will give you my report!!

Never been to any of the others you mentioned, except Rainforest Cafe. Went to the one at AK in 2005. Not very good. I heard the one at DTD is better. Don't know why, I would think they would be the same!

I have always wondered about Tony's and the Plaza restaurant. You never hear much about them. . .

Shelly - Funny you should mention all of this. Disney is trying to gain a big presence in the food industry. Did you know that you can buy Disney fruits and vegetables? I was at the market last night and saw a producer take out apples out of a box with a Disney logo and picture of Mickey on it. Check out this story:

You will start seeing more of this really soon in your grocery stores...this is only the beginning.

Seacrest

Guess what I found at the store??? Mickey pizza!! :mickeyjum Maybe these aren't new and you guys know what I am talking about, but I have never seen them before! DS6 is going to flip!!:upsidedow Just the other day at lunch he was playing with his food and I asked him what he was doing and I looked at his plate and he had 3 tostitos in the shape of a Mickey head and he looked up and said - HOW MANY MORE DAYS NOW??? Anyway this is about a medium sized pizza in the shape of a Mickey head. Very cute!

I have an ADR at sci fi, 50's Prime, Teppan edo, and ohana breakfast this year will give you my report with pics of food.... also i have been to liberty tree I loved the characters... meal was pretty good also... San Angel i honestly did not like it too much. I went for Dinner so i don't know if their lunch is any different.... But i wouldn't go back there... it also might be the meal i decided to get which at this moment i can't remember what it was...

mornin RF-

Bongos- owned by Gloria Estefan, right???? Never went there.

We ate at Sci fi on our Honeymoon 10 years ago. Typical hamburgers, etc. Thought the kids would get a kick out of that before Fantasmic one night.

Heard that Rainforest gives you ginormous portions so the kids would likely end up splitting something. Thought about going ther with Marks Grandparents when they drive up for the day. Hum, maybe not. Maybe Wolfgang pucks might be better. IDK.

The Plaza restaurant is good. Wonderful salad- and their sundaes are great. It's a step up from CS- but you are waited on and nice to relax there. Kind of small. People forget about it and you can usually get a table, even without ressies.

Tony's- I just don't know...

Jo

I'm with you on Tony's I had an ADR last may and canceled.. I started with one off this year and again canceled... i just don't think i would want to eat there.... I also heard bongos was gross...

Mari-
San Angel, I agree is not wonderful food. It's mediocre at best, and borders nasty, the last time I went. But the babies keep yelling about eating in that "Dark place with the boats" and it has always been tradition- so back we go. Seems like the food has gone way down in the ten years since we went on our Honeymoon. every year, it gets worse.

Would be wonderful if someone came in and re- did their menu and choices.

yes, gloria estefan owns it and i'm pretty sure it's not on the DDP anyways, so we wouldn't go anyway this time around. Last time we were there I hated it!!! I thought the food was disguisting and it again was a little too expensive from what i recall... but, the only thing that sticks out in my head really was the flan...  ... it tastes just like it sounds if you ask me
