Juergen - that was very cool to watch and again it brings back so many fond memories of all the new people I got to sail with!

Anna, we have already registered for that very same race, KEWL!!!! we will see ya there, beside Oct 28 is a very good day for a birthday LOL, so I can start my annual week long B-day celebration that night....LOL

Okay, so I am on the DVC member's cruise with Kay Oct 21-25 and then we are staying on doing a B2B and get off Sunday morning the 28th. I could meet up on the 28th. Kay might want to join us too. I'll check with her.

Maybe I could fly home the morning of the 29th.

I watched the pod caste 5 times. Even my 2 year old remembered that night on the ship. Isn't it amazing that we all did that together?!

Nana-Anna-I kinda wilt in hot weather, but How can you NOT have a good time at Disney! Let me ask my girls about the tea party. They are never too old for fun! I need to confirm dates with Scott, too. He's all over the world for the next month so it may take awhile.

Hi Everyone

So, yesterday I went out on a training ride on my bicycle. Had a good ride until about 5 miles from home. A large truck decided to make a turn out of a drive way right in front of me. I was going about 20mph at the time and had to lock up my rear brake. We didn't hit or anything, but when I got home, I noticed that I had worn the rubber right off the rear tire and was down to the cord casing. So much for that $50 tire. Racing bike tires are not designed for skidding.

Oh well - it could have been worse. I could have been a hood ornament. :lmao:

Hello everyone!

Jeurgen--Thank you for the fantastic link to the podcast. Good memories. good memories.

It is warming up again here thank goodness. Town swim lessons start in the lake tomorrow. We were getting worried when we didn't even get to 65 degrees on Thursday, Friday or Saturday. Today the sun came out and the mercury rose up to 80 (that's still a bit chilly for the swimming but at least doable).

Congrats to the racers (I wouldn't even be able to finsish:rotfl2: ) and Debbie, as always (even wit hyour limited supply this time around) I LOVE the pics.

Thanks Hadley - actually, it happens alot. A favorite trick is to pass me and then make a quick right turn in front of me. I've learned to always pay attention when riding in traffic. I've been lucky so far and haven't gone down yet.

"It happens a lot":scared1:

I grew up in Boulder, CO where just about every street has a bike lane, so I am so used to thinking about (and looking for bikes) that it is like second nature. Dave and I have been stunned by how people in many of the other palces we have lived do not even take bikes (or pedestrains for that matter) into consideration. I hope you continue to keep a sharp lookout and fast reflexes for all of those people who don't realize they need to share the road--I want to manage to crusie with you again. In the meantime you are my (and Erik's) inspiration. We are the Lanyard Squad co-leaders :lmao: for our September Double Dip Cruise in 2008.

Ken , glad you are not a hood decoration. Bummer on the tire,

Ut oh... we are at the last day at sea :(

The day may have ended with an amazing fireworks show to greet us in Barcelona. But it also meant that the cruise was coming to an end.

This is what happened one month ago....

Ken, I am so glad you are OK. Two years ago a lady pulled out in front of me and I slammed on my brakes. Of course I went over the handlebars and broke a bone in my elbow. The best thing about that day was it was the first day I had started riding with a helmet. Now I won't get on my bike without my helmet. In January I got my shoelaces caught in my bike chain and of course I went over the handlebars and landed on my head. Thank heavens again for my helmet. I just cringe when I see someone riding a bike without a helmet especially kids. Stay safe!!!

Deanna, don't worry about it when you check with Steve that will be fine. If you don't have time I will understand. You want to see as much as you can while you are here.

Glad you are okay. We got lots of bikers here too, especially since we live right at the mouth of the canyons where everyone goes mountain biking. I'll be sure to keep my eyes open so I don't run over anyone!

Jonathan's been riding about 30 miles per day and there are several places where he is in dangerous situations that scare me to death. But we are pretty lucky because from our front door he can go to the river trail that runs for maybe 75 miles. He takes it from our house to the beach and then stays on the beach path. BUT it's when he gets off the path and trys to ride to the port areas of Long Beach that scares me. I think he's convinced that one day he'll ride up and see the Magic sitting there again. OH Yeah, that will be next summer!!!!!

Where are you riding Ken? The 405? You should come down and go for a ride with Jonathan.

Have Jonathan sign up for the Cool Breeze Century on August 18th. It's a great 100 mile ride starting in Ventura and riding up around Santa Barbara. I have a big dinner the night before for the Arthritis Ride people who are doing the Cool Breeze. Any Disboard friends also riding the Cool Breeze would be welcome as well.

Check out this link to a blog, especially those of you who will be on the August repo with them.

http://web.mac.com/danilo/iWeb/Trip%202007/Welcome.html

It's a Northern Californian family of 7 who are spending the entire summer in Europe. They started out with Disneyland Paris last week. After travelling through Europe they are doing that last Med cruise B2B with the August Repo. (They don't mention their cruise itinerary on their site, but I found the story via their friends over at MouseSavers.)

August 9-12: NYC Disney Theater Extravaganza!! (We're going for a long weekend in NYC and we're seeing 3 Disney Broadway shows: Mary Poppins, Tarzan, & the Lion King. :yay:)

Sept. 5-9: WDW Extravaganza! :yay:
Erik - send me an email when you are headed for NYC - I live 5 miles from the GWB and am usual willing to head into the city for a snack in the village!

We are going to be at WDW from 9/4 to 9/10 - for a pin event - look for us in Epcot at the World Showcase.

Look for us!!! we are on that cruise also!! I am not sure of the cabin, but email me when it is closer...we are going to be at WDW for the week before - Food & Wine yummy!!

Ken - so glad you are not a hood ornament - I can say with experience that having seperated a few people from cars it is very hard on the body!! a funny story of a few years back... I had a guy who was headed down a steep hill on a racing bike -he hit a small car that cut him off - he totaled the car!! he was fine - so - biker 1; car 0. I could not believe how angry the driver of the car was - especially when the cop wrote him about 5 tickets and gave the biker a ride home!!

Ken, We are so glad you are not hood ornament on that truck! We also have lots of bicycles out here with lots of kids riding them so we are extra cautious. Alex says "Stop playing on the 405!"..

I Love My Husband! He just came home from Canada and brought me a little bottle of the icewine we had at the wine tasting on the crossing. It really brought back Good Memories. Ahhhhhh......:thumbsup2

Thanks for the story! It's always nice to hear about a biker winning one once in a while. :thumbsup2
