WELCOME ERIK + JASON!!!

Hey, GREAT goals Milestogo! Wow! You have a lot on your plate.

Scott... I bet I know one of your goals :rolleyes1

Let's see:
Losing weight would be a good one :wizard:
Getting back to walking every day
Breathing again (once this pneumonia is gone!) ;)
Getting to make some new DIS friends on this board :grouphug:
Planning now for this cruise... I love the idea of a days to go calendar. That would make it much more real at this point! :boat:

Happy Tuesday everyone! Sorry... it's the meds... HAPPY WEDNESDAY!

pixiedust: We're takin' the MAGIC to the Med! pixiedust:

Thanks for the warm welcome....

...we're definitely looking to connect with nice/fun people this time around. On our first cruise at dinner we were set at a table for four with a couple who were....let's just say LESS than pleasant...which didn't add much to the DCL experience...but I'm such a Disney-fanatic and enjoyed all the other aspects that we decided to go it again...and on our second and most recent cruise we ended up at a table for 6 with two of the most delightful couples I've ever met and it made a WORLD of difference !!(or would that be a KINGDOM of difference on here?? hehehe)

I must confess that I don't remember our stateroom number....our paperwork for signing is on the way and once I get it I'll post our cabin number....I already sent all the other info to Debbie along with a picture from our last cruise.

So...not to post too long...but I must echo that I'm already GIDDY over this cruise because I can hardly contain myself whenever I know I'm going to get to go to Disney or on a DCL-trip...even when it's over a year away...but also because this will be Jason's first venture out of the US or Bahamas (and he's only been THERE twice before thanks to DCL!!). I grew up in the Air Force so I've been all over the globe, but should be exciting for him to get to see "foreign magic"

....and as far as all this talk of weight loss....I, too, intend to lose weight before the cruise....but my goal is to lose some EXTRA weight with the INTENTION of gaining it back on board!!! :thumbsup2 I mean, really?!?! Who goes on a ship with PALO DESSERTS on it and doesn't intend to gain a few? Someone's been sniffin' some pixie dust!!! hehehehe :wizard:

See you all aboard...and glad we found a lively group of people who are just as insane...er...I mean ENERGETIC...about DCL as we are!

Erik

Hey all once again...last post this morning, I promise! :sunny:

Our stateroom number is #7628

Yes, it all started with just one pin..... :sad2: DH has the bug, but he does not trade much. Only if we have duplicates because he LOVES all his pins. We did get a duplicate set from Hong Kong Disney from a very special nephew who loves us very much and brought them back to us as a surprise. We do have those as trading pins now.

:sulley: Welcome Erik & Jason - well we are bonded for life - YOU ARE IN OUR OLD ROOM FROM OUR FIRST CRUISE!!!!!!!! :simba:

Goals: Ok, everyone we're getting some good goals down, put some thought into it and list them so its out there and you have to make it happen! I can't believe I didn't have lose weight on my list, but continue walking is the perfect one for the list.

Pin Trading: I got my first pin about 25+ years ago and fell in love with them. At the time you could only get them on Main Street DL and in few places in WDW. I started collecting and then had a fire in 1992 and lost everything I owned. I found several of my burned pins in the rubble and still have them to this day. Unfortunately, I lost all of my 1984 Olympics pins (broke my heart!) Since then I've collected a few more and started my daughter and neice with a collection. CACruisin, if you go to the Disney Outlets or Warehouse you can get pins for much cheaper than at Disney. They are usually ones that have last Christmas' date on them or less diserable ones. I buy those for trading! If you go to any CM at any location you can trade pins with them as long as they don't have the duplicate pin. It's a fun way to get them from all over the world & characters that you may want. EVeryone used to put them on their hats and jackets, but then Disney got smart and made it a big business making the lanyards specifically for pins. Now there are trade web sites, conventions/meetings, Ebay etc. There are some people on this site who know far more than me about this subject.

Debbie & Bonzie1,
We have a garage sale every year in our community, last year we took everything that didn't sell at the garage sale and put it on Ebay. We couldn't believe what we sold... My sister sold a skull ash tray from the 80's that didn't get $3 at the garage sale and sold it for $15, an old radio shack phone that nobody wanted at the GS sold for $30 on E. At Christmas we sold dozens of Hard Rock Cafe pins and made over a thousand dollars. Also, I sold all my baby stuff from bouncers to cribs. Our next GS is 5/20 - then Ebay the next day. We photograph everything outside at the end of the sale and throw it on the next day. It takes a while to get started but we did pretty well if you're up for it.

Wow, Pins are a whole new world .... conventions, websites - yikes! Should be interesting to get into. I would likely have been a fellow floor sleeper. :rotfl: I can see not being able to trade though since each pin would have "special memories" - yes, I am a pack rat too! :rotfl2: I'll have to see about getting some "trading pins". So how do you segregate your trading ones from your non-trading ones? :confused3

Georgie: Here's some PD :wizard: that you are feeling better soon. Breathing is definitely one of those important "to do" items. Sounds like you are a great organizer getting the line thing under control. I think I am going to like you a lot! :thumbsup2

milestogo: so sorry about the fire. That sounds awful! All those precious memories. We were at the '84 Olympics too! We saw a bunch of soccer matches, mens volleyball final, and the Closing Ceremonies. It was so cool to have them in CA!! The garage sale/Ebay thing sounds great. Ebay is another area I have yet to venture into ... too bad I just gave away a van load (literally - I pulled the seats out and filled up the whole back!) of baby stuff to Goodwill!

ETA: I got tagged!! Yay me! Thank you kind Tag Fairy!

Welcome Erik and Jason!

DS got into the pin thing during our WDW trip last October. DD joined in too. Now pin trading is their favorite thing to do in the parks. I've probably spent over $300 on pins since then. They just love them. During our most recent trip, I told them that they could each pick out 2 new pins and that was it. I'm sticking with that limit although I'll probably buy the repo and Med cruise pins.

Kelly, I have a long list of goals to accomplish before the trip next year. Here is a partial list:

1. Sell my house in Virginia for top dollar to close NLT 11 May 07.
2. Buy a house in California to close NET 7 Jun 07.
3. 90 minutes of cardio/day.
4. Run Disney's Race for the Taste 10K during our October WDW trip.
5. Start a weight-training program.
6. Read more for pleasure.
7. Learn to speak a little Spanish.
8. Organize our move.
9. Finish the knitting project I started on our July 04 Disney cruise.
10. Organize my kids' rooms and get rid of 1/2 of the toys.

I'm tired just thinking about it!

Wow! Sell one house... take 2 great European Cruises   and then come back home to move across the country to a new house! I'm tired for you just thinking about it :faint: !

I went to school in Virginia (JMU). That's a favorite state of mine!

Did you have a special tie-in with the 1984 Olympics? My husband carried one of the torches. We still have it.

That is awesome! What a wonderful treasure for you!

Littleowensmommy: Whew! You are the list winner!

Susie, Torch - oh am I jealous, we wanted to do that so badly, but were too late in the discovery of the whole torch relay. But I've been twice to see it. Once in Newport Beach 84 and once in LA for 2002 (I think?) It gave me a chill. We went to the strangest events because the tickets were so hard to come by. But we didn't care it was so cool to be there.

Bonzie1, you're tired thinking about it because you've been sick with something that is draining your energy and oxygen. You'll be up and running past all of us soon with your goals!

Waytogo Littleowensmommy! Good list. We've been thinking of languages too esp. to be able to read the menus because we feel like this trip is all about food, food, food.... and excercise.

Just thought I'd re ask this question... know it's a year away but we're planning to see if we can swing the additional days off and co$ts! Has anyone heard anything more about the possible DLP excursion right after our cruise?

Thanks!

Just thought I would let you know. If you are interested in DLP after the cruise, you can fax DCL inventory control right now. Let them know how many nights, hotel type etc and they will call you back with options for your stay and flights. That is what we were told to do anyway when I talked with them.

By the way..Debbie, we are back on this cruise..lol. I will email you the info again later.

Rob and Dawn..just saw your name on the list..happy to be seeing you guys again on this cruise. We were the people in line with you guys, waiting to board for the panama cruise!

:cheer2:

Cheryl

So would it be the third or fourth career :teeth: :lmao: I know you will make the right choice:)

I have updated the page, as well as the deck plans. Deck 7 is looking pretty good.....well not really, I am on Deck 5 :rotfl:

Here are some stats:

34 staterooms
64 Adults
19 children
2 dogs :dog: :dog:

36 people have Late seating
47 people have Early seating

3 people are celebrating birthdays during the cruise :cake:

Same office, different division, they would invest about two years of training. Would involve a move to Cheyenne. Would mean 5 years till retiement instead of 1. Making some more calls today and we will see.

I was at Savon Drugs yesterday. I saw that they had a frame especially designed for autographs. There was a place for a small (5x7?) photo in the center and then a signature mat around it. The whole thing was around 12x16. I thought this might be a good idea for those wanting something for characters to sign.

We did a picture signature mat last year. It turned out really well. I'll have to go to Savon and check out the "ready for sig" one. Thanks.
