Not this time, I have to get re-certified for that one. Not looking forward to it. I will wait till after my trip to do that. Bad thing about being there, I can put it off

Actually teaching something equally exciting... Mass Casualty in Disaster  I have to make a power point presentation tonight :surfweb: but here I sit...

Lynda, you could call him carry, then you would have Cash and Carry. Or call him charge, like will that be Cash or Charge. Going to my room now.

Been there, done that, folks....This is my second Cash...just put down his stepsister, Carrie, last year.... I thought everyone on the PC cruise had heard all the Cash and-------stories......
:confused3

Hey Erik, can you post the link to the site where you ordered them from? I can add it to the site :)

Oh Lynda, sorry to hear about Bee. Maybe Luke? Have a little light saber for him :wizard: :darth: :yoda: :chewy:

Debbie

Hmmm, that could just do...I'll try it out...but, isn't that a people name?...Oh, heck, he's a dog...He'll never know...

Luke, Luke...Cool....... :cool1: Luke and Cash...hmmm

here is the link to the site where i found the info on gibraltar. I'm sure that it is by no means an exhaustive site of what the area has to offer, but there's some fun stuff there and in the menu to the left there is a "request brochure" link

gibraltar-dot-gov-dot-uk-slash-hol-slash-index-dot-asp

as far as the barcelona travel info, honestly I have to find that site again. I got bored at work and was just googling different european tourism sites but I'll look for it and post it when i re-discover it!

Erik

(note: i had to spell out the url above because disboards won't let me include a "real" url in a post b/c it says I'm too new a user...so delete the spaces to get the site to work properly (or someone who IS an "experienced" disboard poster retype it in a post so that others can click it! :rotfl: )

http://gibraltar.gov.uk/hol/index.asp

Thanks for the link Erik. I converted it for you and just went over and requested a brochure. What have you found for the Canary Islands? I've surfed a couple of places, but nothing with any specific information yet. I don't know what I would do without the internet. So much information right at your fingertips. :cloud9:

Something that will sound nice with Cash, not a people name,
You said not a people name, but Johnny seems to go well with Cash. If he/she only had black fur...

Debbie, what on earth do you do for a living to teach Mass Casualty in Disaster? That's a pretty big topic!

Erik, I like DP, we don't see enough DP's! Good pic of you guys too!! I'm very partial to all Disney names too - glad I'm not the only extreme Disney nut.

I'm very curious about DLP, it is cheaper to fly out of Paris back to CA. But how far and difficult is it to get to DLP? Esp. with a DD4?

Lynda, We had a real name delmna with our daughter. We had used our favorite name on our dog (Maltese, who went everywhere with us until pancreatic cancer last year) Zoe - means life in Greek, we're not Greek, but I knew she'd be an only child and it was so special to us, so like Indiana Jones our beautiful little girl was named after the dog.

LOL. I work for the Red Cross in Disaster Services. So just teaching volunteers about Mass Casualty disasters and what the response is.

I got real lucky and found a power point presentation already completed, I just need to tweak it. That saved me a few hours of work!

Hey Erik, thanks for the link. I have requested mine too. They are probably scrathing their heads that they will be getting a bunch from the US today! It will be added to the planning links page sometime soon.

He is black, totally black, but I don't think I could stand telling (Johnny/Cash) to, really, the zillions of people (perfect strangers) who stop me to talk about
dogs...... Cash & Carrie was bad enough and I'm still explaining why the name Cash has nothing to do with Johnny Cash....well, you have to be there....

Greetings all....no I haven't found a great deal about the canary islands myself. I found a few pages with some info but nothing so far that blows me away. Jason is very good at finding information online so I'll sick him on the internet soon to find some good info on all our locales (we just bought our first house a couple months ago so right now he's all-consumed with painting and fixing sinks and what-not :rotfl2: hehehe).

I noticed on the itinerary we aren't in Gibraltar that long---all aboard time is 4:30pm so we're probably going to have to find short excursions to amuse ourselves. From reading that site I linked I'm very partial to the idea of a cable car ride to the top of the rock, visit with the apes and birds a bit and maybe do some of the gardens and/or caves---but boating with the wild dolphins sounds fun, too!

From what I've looked at about the Canary Islands, we may make that a casual laid back black sand beach day---and Barcelona has so much to offer who KNOWS what we'll want to do---but I suppose we have ages and ages to decide! hehehe :hourglass :tigger:

Erik

I just ordered a C. Is. travel book...and ordered the Gibraltar info, thank you...If I discover any on-line references in the book I'll sure post 'em!...
:thumbsup2

I also, in my meandering searches today came across a reference to beads in Cadiz.....
Any bead collectors out there?

Lynda, How do I hide your post from Lynn??? :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

SHe has been known to make ear rings from beads.

Ahh, not to worry...after a little more investigation, the beads are from Nueva Cadiz, an island off the coast of Venezuela... hmmm,... Nueva Cadiz?

not the same...:

Cadiz is renowned for its famous ‘Carnaval’ festival which takes place in the second week of February each year. It starts at Gran Teatro Falla with a music competition. 10 days later a huge firework display on Playa Caleta in the old town marks the end of the celebrations.

The majority of the celebrations are in the old town, so this is the place to go to enjoy the atmosphere & join in with the drinking of copious amounts of alcohol. During the 10 day period the streets fill with music groups parading the cobbled streets of the old town singing & playing their music.

On the second night of Carnaval the entire town dresses in fancy dress, head to Plaza de la Catedral & Plaza de Mina for the best fun! This is probably the best & most enjoyable night of Carnaval. The town gets very busy & crowded on this night as it's when most people come to Cadiz from other towns & villages nearby. Make sure you go in fancy dress yourself or be prepared to suffer the abuse which will be hurled at you!!!

If you're going there with children, they will enjoy the Sunday parade. Large floats leave the new town & proceed along the main 'Avenida' to the old town. It's also worth seeing yourself, provided you aren't so hungover from the previous nights antics that you can't get out of bed!!

WAAAAA, we're gonna miss it!!! :wizard:

Hey Kelly/"milestogo"
I'm a big animal lover (AK is by far my favorite park....even BEFORE Everest opened!) so I am all giddy to see the Gibraltar apes and migratory birds....woo hoo!!! :cheer2:
Erik
We're also planning to see the Gibraltar apes. Also the Andalucian horses in Jerez (excursion from Cadiz). If the schedule stays the same over the next year, we will be there during a "show" day.

Crackin me up, Scott H! LOL... This reminds me of the time that Bill Cosby sent Oprah flowers and a beautiful card saying how he was in charge of Oprah's b'day gift and his wife had nothing to do with it... Then his wife sent a bigger bouquet of flowers and wrote, "my stupid husband thinks I don't know what he's doing!" Not that you're stupid, it just reminded me of that very funny scene between husband and wife of many years.

Erik, I love the AK too! We're excited because our daughter will be old enough to enjoy it this trip! I love the cable car idea.

Was anyone else disappointed in the look and atmosphere of Naples on the Samantha Brown Travel show, Passport to Europe. Monaco was such a beautiful episode... but I wondered if Naples was looking all that inviting. Someone tell me that I'm wrong and its wonderfully fun and eclectic.

Debbie, RED CROSS - WOW - no wonder you like a light-hearted vacation!

OH YEA... Big new today... We are officially DVC members at OKW as of this morning!!!!!!
