Hi Bob!

Scott did a great job of explaining everything. It is best to get a use year which equals your current use year. Tracking then becomes easier. We used The Time Share Store, and things were very smooth. We were pleased with them. We don't have a lot of points (250), but should we decide to add more, we would be able to use them for l o n g cruises :thumbsup2

Have fun making your decision!

What are the advantages to having points at more than one of Disney's properties? Can you comibine points from different properties for the same cruise?

Yes points from different home resorts can be combined for cruises, and other non DVC property stays or offerings.

One advantage is you can use the 11 month booking window ro make a reservation. Here is an example. Our October/ November trip we are staying at OKW. We did not have enough OKW points to complete the reservation, so made the initial reservation for 9 days with OKW points, then at the 7 month window finished the reservation with SSR points. Hope that makes sense.

Good Question, Shari. I was wondering the same thing. Thanks for the answer (and example - it helped!)

Yes... everything that Scott said! For our last stay at WDW, the DVC CM had to combine banked points from one property with current points from another because we wanted to use up our banked points before using current points from that sam property.

The biggest advantage is the 11 month booking window (IF you can plann your vacations that far in advance... we can't :rotfl: ). You just have to be sure you have enough from your home resort to complete the reservation, as Scott described above>

Rescuing our thread from page 2. Everyone must be busy today. Off to make dinner now ... :wave2:

Debbie,
That is great that you have a contact in Canary Islands! :thumbsup2 What is the typical mid/late May weather? Is it foggy/overcast like Southern CA or wonderful, gorgeous sunny and warm? (yes, I am obsessing about weather! )

Also, thanks for sharing the flubber video - what fun! The Disboards comment is classic! :rotfl2:

milestogo,
We were pleasantly surprised when DD liked Flounders last summer. Here's hoping both our DD's love Oceaneers Club! :cheer2:

We dont have foggy . The weather can be overcast but most days are hot and sunny.

Has anyone heard any more about the DCL excursions to DLP after the repro? I'm on a wait list with our TA, just in case this becomes a reality, but I don't have any of the details... Anyone? :confused3

Thanks!

Just thought I'd re ask this question... know it's a year away but we're planning to see if we can swing the additional days off and co$ts! Has anyone heard anything more about the possible DLP excursion right after our cruise?

Thanks!

Haven't heard, but that would be fun! I think if you stay at DLP with DVC points the tickets to the park are included. HMMMMMM :smooth:

Yes they are as well as a pretty nice continental breakfast.

we have seriously considered buying DVC points but are unsure of the longterm costs re maintenance fees...that being said...i am kicking myself that i did not take advantage of the friends and family at the end of last year...that deal was awesome and we would have bought in if we had not just spent all of our $$$ on a disney cruise!!!! :rotfl2:

we stayed at the beach club resort a few years ago and loved the pool with the real sand and everything....i would be tempted to buy points here but i heard they are hard to get and expensive....where is that lottery ticket??? :wizard:

:simba: I like Friday's one week closer to pulling the pin, 57 weeks to go. :yay:

We had the same problem. We discovered the DVC after our second cruise... then the pictures in our brain started flying by... all the times we walked past the kiosks and signs and never paid attention to them. So, now we have the ball rolling and are planning a major increase in business income to pay for this very expensive investment. But what we’ll save in future vacations turned out to be worth it. We really did the math, watched the resale opportunities and talked to tons of people before feeling like it wasn’t just another scam. The minute we found out that you could use points for cruises, we were sold! Now I see on this thread that you can use points for DLP and it includes txts – wow. I hope our offer goes through Disney FROR!!!

We made our countdown calendar for the fridge this week with our pics of each port. It was very exciting crossing off the first day – yeah. I realized this morning that my DD will be finished with her first year of preschool by the time we leave – wow.

Yep, you just can't go wrong with buying into DVC. We just added on and beforehand really thought about it. Finally we made the decision to add and glad we did. We seem to use our points each year and want more.
