I did read somewhere thought that taxis charge per peice of luggage on top of local charge for taxi so it might work out a bit more.

We saw online that taxis are readily available, and the estimated cost is 25-30 euros plus .90 per piece of luggage. Since there are three of us, we still come out ahead plus we can go when we want, but of course, it's easier not to have to deal with the luggage. We are flying out at 11:20 to Dublin, so do not have the issue of needing to divest ourselves of luggage in order to tour during the day. I know other DISers on our flight, but I don't think there's enough room for us to go together. Hmm. Will have to ponder!

Does anyone still need a foraml for their little girl? I was going through Marika's closet this morning and found the dress she wore for a church ceremony (and then several times on cruises-long after it was way too short!). It is a lovely Talbot's silk dress in a size 7 (much more formal than just a nice sun dress--also Talbot's tends to run big. Marika had mostly 8s when this fit and had grow room) and so sweet (maybe I can convince Dave to post a photo tonight? Or else, if someone is interested I do know how to email photos if you PM me your email address). It was not cleaned after the last time she wore it, and has spent the last year or two crumpled in her floor :scared1: . So, it would need to be sent out for dry cleaning once on board, but I would be happy to throw it in for someone if they'd like to get it cleaned and dress their little one it. I don't promise that eery single spot will come out, but there are no major spots, so even if something doesn't I don't feel it will really show up as a problem unless you are inspecting it.

Cupcake, I LOVE your screen name! Are you in Chicago proper? We're in MCHenry County, north of the city.

Yes, definitely Chicago proper! (My work and home phones have a 312 area code :) ). Do you make it here often? That has to be a decent drive, esp with traffic... :sad2:

It's kinda comforting to know that if I'm ever in need on the ship, all I have to do is yell out the name Cynthia, and odds are, one of you will be around.:goodvibes

Cupcake,
We go down--it takes about an hour by train--several times a year for shopping, sites or to see a show. We are Wicked-obsessed as a family! And Blue Man Group is a draw! It is one of my favorite cities in the world, so beautiful, so interesting, and so manageable.

Goodmorning all, WELCOME ALL OF OUR NEW CRUISERS:banana:

We've got a big group of 4,5,6 year olds now. They'll feel like they are in preschool.

regarding the Cynthia's: I've been meaning to post this for a week. Growing up all I wanted was to have the name of Cindy. Thought I'd grow up to name a child Cindy. It was the most popular name until we had 4 Kelly's in our girl scout troup. I have a best friend named Cyn (Cindy). So, because of my love of the name I'd like to be in the group. I think that 40 years loving the name earns me some kind of group hug. I want to be in the club. Of course, my passport will say Kelly, as will my badge! But if you see me in the hall say,"Hey Cyn."

Good weather coming your way. looks like two weeks of good weather!!

I have an off topic question: has anyone ever choked (minor coughing, eye tearing) on a small piece of bread (or other food) coughed so hard that their tonsil to their esophagus hurts every time you sallow or burp for the next week? I lectured so much that I strained my voice and had swollen tonsils, then at a luncheon (Friday) I choked on a small piece of bread and since have had pain swallowing. I went to the doctor yesterday and she had no idea (thanks big help - no strep throat), I'm thinking I bruised my esophagus and inflamed my tonsils???? I know we have several medical folks on this thread, so I thought I'd ask. It's my left tonsil and about 4 inches down the center/left side of my chest. Hope I'm not grossing anyone out, but between all of our moms (who serve all kinds of problems) and our med folks I thought someone may have some insight. Thanks.

Document dance :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:    :dance3: :dance3:

Just got back form the TA and picked up the Documents and some gifts she had for us. No, magnets yet, she never heard anything about them either :confused3

DW is now officially panicing, she laid out the boys clothes last night and determined that she is not done shopping after all. And we still have to find her a costume to wear for Pirate night. 17 Days until we leave so the crunch is now on.

Cheers!!

Pat

Odd kelly, that sounds simlar to something that happeend to me a couple months ago. I ahd a really bad coughing spell when I swallowed wrong, and about 2-3 minutes later I could feel this awful swellnig in my neck about half way down and then pressure from that pushing down into my chest on that side. It was so swollen David could feel it on the outside when he ran his hand down my neck. Dave was also taking Pennicillan at the time which I am highly allergic to, so we ended up at the ER just in case I had somehow come in contact with that. Well, they did x-rays, etc and ended up saying it was nothing dangerous, probably a pulled muscles. It got better for few days then settled into a so-so lump in the throat. Felt like I was sort of choiking, but not really and was worse in the evenings. Finally went to my doctor (felt silly going in as I had alreay been to the ER and told not to worry). He said it looked/sounded like inflmation due to acid reflux. The couging probably caused a bunch of acid to go up and then once it was really inflamed it just wasn't having a chance to heel properly with acid still hitting it now and again (I do not have anything that feels like regular heartburn--which my doc says is also pretty normal). Sure enough, a couple of days on Tagamet and I was sooooo much better. Anyway, it is something to consider as to what the problem is.

Thanks, Hadley. I was thinking a pulled muscle too. I'll bet in a few days it will disappear. I'm counting on that. It's one of those weird places and things to happen just to irritate me before the cruise.

Magnets--Kelly and others, thank you for clearing up the issue and confirming our magnets and fish extenders are okay. Deanna--like you my first thought was that sticker/tape/glue users should be fined also, but like you I suddenly realized that could lead to "pranksters" getting someone else fined. I do think educating people is key. Also, Kissimee, good idea on the selling of magnet supplies. Actually, "make your own agnetic door sign" would be a great early in the cruise club/lab activity (I think even the teens could like this) and a good chance for the CMs to drive hthe point home with kids that ONLY magnets can go on doors.

it woulod be a great first night project to design your own door magnet (with your parents or without - hey i might stay with my kids in the clubs to do that one!) while teaching the kids all about not sticking tape, stickers, or glue on their door as well as having a great way to find their room!!!

JT here (Princess Cynthia's DH), (hey, maybe I should refer to her as PC!)

So, PC is at work and I have the DisBoards all to myself.

This will be my first trans-lant cruise not courtesy of the Navy. So, I'm excited to see how the other half lives and how the Magic rides in open ocean blue-water. :yay:

JT

my hubby was i the Navy too and crossed the atlantic several times.....it took alot of convincing to get him to go on a cruise after the navy but i got him to agree and he is hooked...although he tells me this trip to the med won't be nearly as fun as when he was drinking and single in the navy :scared1: :lmao: :rotfl2: buy, are those days LONG GONE!!!!

I do notice a lot of my guests seem to be from the same state during the fall and spring.....sometimes EVERYONE is from New Jersey, other times, EVERYONE is from Michigan! I have never really thought of it as "Jersey" week, I am going to ask my co workers and my supervisor! Gotta be ready for that!

we try to cruise or take trips on "fall break" here in ok where the third week of october we only have 2.5 days of school...

Anyone else ready to panic?

:scared1: i still have not lost that 100 punds i was supposed to...do i still have time? i need to try on my clothes...i think i packed some of my skinny clothes thinking hopeful!!!

Tough decissions for us guys.... wow the pressure....:lmao: :lmao:

RE Swimsuits, wasn't there a sale of Disney Swimware recently....

again....they are made for models...plus size bodies in the swimwear they sell would not be a pretty sight!!! :scared1: :headache: :rolleyes1

Ok - How many of you are wearing your cruise t-shirt on the 12th? My dd will kill me if we are the only ones and she has the same shirt on that I do!

kelly....

do the sore throat lozenges or spray help it at all? if they do it is something external, like scratch or something, but if they do not it is probably more muscular...try warm packs to your throat and make sure you take really small bites or soft food for a few days to see if this helps....:hippie:

My DH doesn't understand my scrapbook production process that is all over the countertops, dining room table and living room that I currently have going on. Maybe I ought to look at a small manufacturing firm off-shore also!:rotfl: :rotfl:

This is me as well. Luckily we eat in the kitchen and only have company over for dinner once or twice a year. I don't think we've seen our dining room table since last year just after Thanksgiving.

Does anyone have any thoughts yet on whether we are going to keep this thread alive for the crossing or whether we are going to start a new "live" thread? I think it might be nice to decide now so that we don't have two threads going. I know Curt will want to follow whatever thread we use.

I’ve been gargling with warm salt water; which is helping the throat. But it’s that weird little pain a few inches down my chest that seems like a bruise or muscle. I’m hoping that someone reads this and says Oh that happened to me. I think what Hadley did is close. Thanks, I’ll try the compresses.

Gydell, planning to wear it but it may be too hot there to wear my long sleeve shirt. Here it is perfect. DH will wear his hat.

I didn't purchase a "T-shirt". I purchased a tank top and a long sleeved shirt. I plan on wearing the tank if it isn't too chilly. Otherwise, a lime-green shirt.

Ok - How many of you are wearing your cruise t-shirt on the 12th? My dd will kill me if we are the only ones and she has the same shirt on that I do!

I will probably wear a Transatlantic crossing shirt to the terminal but change into the proper Frat wear for sailaway. :rotfl2:

Ken

I'll be the guy wearing the crossing t-shirt and the lanyard. :lmao:

Ken

i am again forcing my family to wear the cute disney matching outfits i bought last year...they are so thrilled! :rolleyes1
