Given the 50-50 chance of it selling at all.....I guess we did ok.....we were on the upside of the odds. It was very hard to be there. I declined to go to the closing. I said I'm finished. The lawyer will handle it without me and I trust her 100%

Now it's time to make up for lost time.....lucky to have a fun vacation in five days and then when we get back, we only have two weeks until Turkey day with the relatives and more DISmeets! All good things. I'm very thankful!

Congrats on the house sale - though sorry it wasn't for more.

Now on to the packing!!!

Thanks Noel, great way to look at things! :thumbsup2 Also, I'm just going to focus more on what the doc is asking and saying, and less on whatever the other two may have to say, especially the stepmom since she was so grumpy last time I saw her. It's very possible she had some other issue she was upset over, because I see her grumpy more often than not, so I can't assume it was directed at me. I have nothing but GOOD thoughts about the appointment tomorrow because after two phone calls today I managed to get Tyler's pediatrician to fill out the Blue Cross Blue Shield referral form and fax it to BCBS, so now the doc we see tomorrow will be considered in network! :woohoo: Tyler's dad told me he called to ask about applying these fees towards next year's deductible and he told me they said no. At least I got him to call and ask. :thumbsup2

WOOHOO! We're finally getting the ball rolling!

Very smart idea to focus on what the doctor will be saying and not Tyler's Dad or Step-Mom. What good news about the Doctor being in-network!! Does that mean some of the fees will be paid?

The news is showing pics of CA fires from Santa Barbara....Bubba and Venetia....to San Diego.....Darrell and Lisa.....I hope none of our DISer friends are affected directly....Mr. Woody and Mrs. Woody....and all of you along the way. It looks terrible. I'm thinking of you wishing that you all stay safe and out of harm's way.
Wow, I didn't know anything about the fires because I haven't been near a TV since Saturday afternoon. :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug: to all our DISers and their friends and families in those areas. :sad1:

Thanks Deb, the fires are on all but our West side where we live. The high school across the street from us is one of the evacuation shelters. And sections of the town to our East have been evacuated. Air quality is pretty bad - you can see ashes floating about and smell the fires as well. Work pretty much sent everyone home so we've been hanging out watching the coverage on tv. Pretty scary knowing I can see the smoke plumes from our parking lot (Descano fire).

Wow Lisa that is so scary....way too close for comfort. If you have to evacuate, can you just go across the street? I hope it doesn't come to that, but it's good to know you can go there if it gets too close. It must be so hard for you to breathe....I can't even imagine! Stay safe and know that I'm thinking of you!!!!

I think I am taking some Nyquil and going to bed. Hopefully I can get up early and finish packing!

Finally things are moving in the right direction......don't forget we want a full report when you have time after the meeting. It's like we'll all be there with you!

:cool2: :cool2: :cool2:

oh my.....so tonight I am frantically packing and doing laundry and trying to get everything organized to go tomorrow. We aren't leaving until 4:30 or so....so we won't get to Orlando anytime soon.

John - you have my cell, Monica, I should pm it to you too.....what time is Boma's on Saturday? I need to write it down.

Pretty sure Boma is 10:15.

Make sure you turn that cell on V!

We have not even thought about packing yet, but what else is new?:confused3

The house is yesterday's news....the trip is ever so present and exciting.....now if I could only get through that darned packing! I do a little and take a break, do some more and another break....I have to get it finished by tomorrow night when John comes home coz he's taking it to the cleaners to have it washed before dumping it in the suitcase. I'm almost half way finished. Tomorrow I will get it done!

My thoughts and prayers go out to all our southern California neighbors who may be in harms way due to the fires.

I was in San Diego in October 2003 with the last big fire and remember how frightening it was with the ash falling as if a volcano had erupted. I had already checked out of the Marriott by Qualcom when the airport closed. They wouldn't let me back in because of the scheduled NFL football game (which was canceled) Luckily, I was able to get a room at the Residence Inn because not only was the airport closed, so was Highway 5 and the trains. It was very sad staying at the Residence in listening to so many people who had been made homeless by that fire.

Let us hope this fire will not be as deadly. :pixiedust:

It seems like everyone is packing tonight....except for PJ....I'm sure she is finished already.....and Monica.....who gets to do all these great DISmeets and doesn't have to pack a thing. HA HA HA!!!

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

DVC Member Cruise

Has anyone been reading the live report from that? Wow...they get spoiled on that cruise!!! So many goodies every day. I am jealous. We have always wanted to go on that cruise, but it sells out so quickly and it is during the beginning of school which is a rough time for me to take time off.
I haven't been reading it, but will go check it out! I'm sure my co-worker Jan will tell me all about it when she gets back. She told me about how she needed to bring an extra bag for all the goodies they give out!

I actually have masks to wear if we have to go outside (I have asthma).

We figure having an evacuation shelter across the street is a sign they don't think this area is in any real danger of being hit by the fires. Although that could change at any time.

If we have to evacuate we'll probably go to a friend's house. Hopefully we won't have to...

Thanks, Noel,
I haven't heard anything about the airport closing but the 15 is closed in spots already.

Qualcomm is also one of the evacuation shelters. It's great that a lot of the shelters are allowing domestic pets in crates as I think having to leave pets is one reason a lot of people don't evacuate when they should.

Anyone else go to the $300 store this weekend? (Costco).

I had to laugh....I spent $300.48 this weekend.

It made me think of you guys!!
Lisa
I went to the $300 store, but resisted the temptation to buy the new iPod Nano.

Insurance will now cover 50%, but not until AFTER we pay (meaning I pay) $2,500.00 each year. But it's better than nothing. I'm happy!

Thanks! I definitely won't have time tomorrow afternoon because my boss gets back tomorrow morning after being out of town since Thursday, so he'll be frantically trying to get caught up. It will be one of those days where I'm too busy to even go to the bathroom! :lmao: So I'll post tomorrow night after Tyler's in bed. This will be very convenient that the doc's office is on the 2nd floor of my work building. All I have to do is run up the stairs and back down again. And when Tyler has his full day of testing next week, I can go downstairs and work while they're doing that! :thumbsup2 Once his dad & stepmom find out I work in the same building, I'm sure they'll see that as a devious plot on my part. :rotfl2: :rotfl2: I'm totally KIDDING!!!! Just making light of how they've acted throughout this situation. :rotfl: Yup, the real me is coming back! :dance3:

Thank you for your kind thoughts. Fortunately we are not affected, other than a layer of ashes on everything.

I hope others in Southern California are not affected either.

Lisa, this is so scary! But I like your way of thinking that since an evacuation center is right across the street from you that they think your area won't be affected. Very good point! But still so scary to have it that close to you. Please keep us updated.

Does he have a Medical Flexible Spending Account available where he works? It is too late for 2007 but if he has an FSA and it is calendar year he can get a pre-tax withheld from his paycheck beginning with the first pay in 2008. The beauty of the FSA is that you can file claims against it up to the contracted amount BEFORE all of the money has been with held form your pay.

In addition, since the money is pre-tax the buying power is greater - in a 30% tax bracket the $1000 deferred has the buying power of $700 after taxes. It is more bang for your buck.

Were good too! Just super smokey and lots of ashes to hose down at work(S.B.) and at home(Oxnard). Malibu, Arrowhead Lake And down by Lisa are getting the worst, and Magic Mountain area too! So smokey last night that I wouldn't let the cat out, she was not to happy!
