First day of school tomorrow for Sophia.

And . . .

I have to take her out early to attend her brother's ceremony. We were looking for the paperwork she needs to take to school tomorrow, and guess what? Her aunt took her shopping for school supplies over the weekend, and took all the paperwork back with her to Toledo!

Glad I took the day off. Guess I will take a trip to the office to fill out the paperwork!

Just figures it is the dorky school board member!

Yea, and I bet the dog ate your homework too!

OK you got me Holly...I've never heard of that one.....how about....

On top of old smokey....all covered in cheese....I lost my poor meatball when somebody sneezed....it rolled off the table and into a bush....and now my poor meatball....is nothing but mush!
Tyler and I sing that one all the time on long car rides. He knows it from Snuffy singing it on one of his old Sesame Street videos. But the version we learned is much longer:

On top of old Smoky all covered with cheese
I lost my poor meatball when somebody sneezed.
It rolled off the table and onto the floor
and then my poor meatball rolled right out the door.
It rolled in the garden and under a bush
and then my poor meatball was nothing but mush.
The mush was so tasty, as tasty could be
and then the next summer, it grew into a tree.
The tree was all covered with beautiful moss
and on it grew meatballs and tomato sauce.
So if you eat spaghetti all covered with cheese
hold onto your meatball and don't ever sneeze.

:goodvibes

On the big screen, lol. Which ladies are going to lead the class? :lmao:

Holly, Big Hugs!

Karen, IT issues suck, we are heading into Campus rush at the store and our new POS system (25 registers), which is tied into our inventory server shut down twice today and we are only at about 30% capacity. I am scared for when we are in full rush in 10 days.:surfweb:

Deb, keep strong and get lots of Rest.

Noel, best wishes on your medical adventure.

Thanks for the support. I will be having surgery for the removal of my gall bladder on September 17th so I have a bit of time yet to prepare mentally.

Deb it depends, lol

This was at the bottom of that table;
"No marked or monumented point has been established by any government agency as the geographic center of either the 50 States, the conterminous United States, or the North American continent. However, a monument was erected in Lebanon, Kansas, by a group of citizens who hired engineers to determine the position of the "geographic center" of the United States.

Sometimes confused with geographic center of the United States is the triangulation station "Meades Ranch," located at latitude 39°13'26.686" North and longitude 98°32'30.506" West, about 12 miles north of Lucas, Kansas. This was the primary reference point for the North American Datum (n.a fixed starting point of a scale or operation,) of 1927, the standard on which all the latitude and longitude lines for North America were based. This datum is being replaced by the North American Datum of 1983, which is not hinged to a single point of reference."

Mine is silver and white from Dell....didn't see any pink ones, but that would be nice....do they have any with Tink on them????

Venetia, I see you changed your Avitar to Dumbo for your mom! Way to Go! I LOVE it!:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Yes it is in honor of Mom.

OK who has a map...and where is Noel when you need her...what is the most centerpoint of the USA?:confused3 :rolleyes1 :confused3

This is what I came up with...

http://ask.yahoo.com/20010122.html

The geographical center of the lower 48 states lies outside of Lebanon, Kansas, in the middle of a hog farm.

The geographical center of all 50 states is located 17 miles west of Castle Rock, South Dakota.

The geodetic center of the U.S. is found approximately 42 miles south of Lebanon, Kansas. (Note: A geodetic survey makes corrections to account for the curvature of the Earth.)
The article is quick to point out, however, that none of the designated "centers" are truly precise or objectively determined:

Many variables exist when calculating the center of a land mass as large as the United States, and selective criteria and methods can be used, from the selection of different map projections, to defining the periphery of the shape with varying degrees of accuracy.
In fact, scientists at the Geodetic Survey have stopped calculating "centers" due to the imprecise nature of the task. Oscar S. Adams, Senior Mathematician for the U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey, even wrote, "Since there is no definite way to locate such a point, it would be best to ignore it entirely...."
So take your pick:thumbsup2

Hello everyone! I have been out of town for work 2 of the last 4 weeks and I am the PTA President for DD's Elementary School. Umm.. that has been a challenge. But I think I have regained some semblance of control and I am going to try to catch up. You have been really chatty here lately!

Kim

Welcome back!! My DD did the PTA president for about three years. You and she are WAY braver than me. It is an awesome responsiblity and tons of hard work. My hat is off to you!!

Well, if we were to do a pot luck and bring a dish or two of our favorite ethnic foods from childhood....consensus would have it that we would end up somewhere in the middle of a hog farm in Kansas....?????:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
