I'll admit it- I'm a fan of the cheesy romance novel. I figure it's like choclate for my brain...I've read some Stephen King, but I  his columns in Entertainment Weekly, makes me want to read his books so much more....

actually, it's worse if you work in a bookstore. think about it- you go in once a month and there's tons of new stuff to read. If you work there for a while you've read all the backlist for your favorite authors and are desperately wating for something new...plus I get to check out hardcovers for free;)

:thumbsup2 I love Stephen King's column in EW. Now every week it's the first page I look at. Loved his Harry Potter column that was the week before the last book came out. Also based on his recommendation I picked up The Ruins by Scott Smith - not an author I would normally have picked up - and loved the book!

I kind of like when I'm out of new stuff to read, gives me a chance to go back and re-read some of my favorites.

When I get on a roll with an author, I will check out everything in the local library that she or he has ever written. I read 6 John Lescoart's in one day last week. You must remember I up here relaxing at the Lake by myself so I answer to no one but myself about what I do with my time.

I totally do that - if I see a book that sounds good I have to read everything the author has written prior to it - if it's not the first in a series already.

Good morning all.

A lovely day here and it makes such a change on our public holidays! Church, than a barbeque ,then a walk then nothing!!!!!

Vanessa will stay in NY tonight and fly out at 7am to Reagan instead of Dulles. Glad it is Sunday...

All the hotels were sold out as everything cancelled out of JFK. She called an emergengy # and a supervisor was going to pick her up at JFK and get her back in the morning for the 7am flight.

She will be exhausted.

Poor Vanessa. I would be in a state if it was me, so she has done well organising things.

Spoke to Deb last night. She was in alot of pain, told them to tell the doc to crank up the pain meds. She might have to go back to the O.R .once more. She got the flowers and told me to tell everyone THANK YOU and BIG hugs.:grouphug: She said that is definitly helping her get through it. I told her I couldnt have done it without everyone on the boards and the turnout and caring that everyone showed was amazing.

Ok well long night at work, off to bed. Hope everyone has a good sunday!

morning all.
Noel - I would love to hole myself up for a day of reading. Sounds wonderful!
Heather - glad to know Deb's spirits are up, hopefully she won't be in much pain much longer.
John - loved the pics - especially the last one!

Well I had a horrible night last night. For whatever reason I could not sleep. I would drift off and wake up every hour or so. I tossed and turned - ugh! This has happened a few times I think I am going to pick up some Tylenol PM or something. It's making me tired!

Another cleaning day here.

Aren't kids interesting? You never know what they will get into their heads.

Would a note from Mickey have done the trick? I am thinking of Mickey stationery from one of the stores and printing that does not look familiar to the kid. Note could say "This letter gives so-and-so permission to use any of my bathrooms. love, Mickey"

Jan :earsgirl:

We didn't think about that at the time - wish we had. He's 6 now so we are through that crisis and waiting for the next one to hit!

Is Vanessa there yet?

What I do when I can't sleep is pick up some ponderous tome to read and before you know it my eyes are drooping and I am off to sleep.

John's working today until about 2 - I think we are going to have tacos for lunch and then hit the pool. I have about half the girls bag packed!

Hope all is well! Know your busy, but lots of us want to know whats up. I know youll drop by as soon as you have a sec, but some of us are impatient.:rolleyes1

On a different note, anyone read the "escargot" thread on the main board? If you have, please let me know if I was "bashing",as Linda Gardner seems to think I was!:confused3

I read it and I was :confused3 is she talking about. I actually had the same thoughts as you, but didn't post. I think some folks are just looking for something to be offended about. Your post was NOT bashing.

DrHug and I are SO excited about our "find" yesterday! We saw a Disney movie called "Night Crossing" way back in the early 80's and have searched for it for a long time. We even checked at the store on Main Street at DL, they looked in their log and found nothing. No one had even heard of it. We thought it is out of print and gone forever. Well, yesterday at our local little Bi-Mart store there it was on DVD! :woohoo: :cool1: :cloud9: We bought it an watched it again last night. Loved it again! :yay: :thumbsup2

We are going to a birthday party at the park today for a little extended family member who is turning 4. :woohoo:
