Did you grow up on Long Island? We lived there from 1970-1972 in Kings Park. I went to college in Brooklyn. Our son was married on Fire Island May 19, 2007. That was the first time we had been there--really neat. Bride wanted to get married barefooted on the beach. She had a lovely long lace and taffeta gown and was barefooted in the sand. Our son wore a tux with sandals. So cute!

Yes I did...so did my DH John. I was born in Nassau County and grew up in Suffolk County....graduated HS in 1974 and went to college in Manhattan. John was born and raised in Nassau County....graduated HS in 1969 and went to college in Suffolk County.

John and I got married in Sag Harbor on the East End. We wanted to do a barefoot on the beach wedding, but found out that you were not allowed to have any alcohol on the beach and nixed that idea.

Fire Island is so beautiful and you're lucky if you can get a house there. I would love to see pics of your son's wedding. It sounds beautiful!!!
 :cloud9:

Jackie, THANK YOU so much!

I caught the cheap fares for December and will get to make a quick break down, just four weeks after my Halloween Cruise, my DM thinks I am nuts, lol. Have to see my Geeks!

PJ, someone from my Halloween cruise just jumped over to your Halloween cruise. Her name is Jackie and she is traveling with DH and DS teen. They are from Ireland. I have been chatting with her for a while and she is very nice....in fact we're going to do a toast on the 28th at 5pm to each other. Her DIS name is JNS. If you chat with her or meet her onboard, take a pic and post it here. She's very cool.....you'll want to say hello to her and tell her hello from me too.

John and I thought about joining everyone in Dec at World....but said we get home from cruise/world in Nov....it's too soon to go back in Dec. I can see why your mom thinks you're nuts, but then you already know these Geeks....so I fully understand.

Instead, I'm DIS meeting in Vegas in January....well at least it's two months later not one.
 :flower3:

Roll Call for Vegas:

Anybody else???

Peg, when is your birthday? We'll have to celebrate both your Bday and John's. Lots of fun!!!
 :yay:

Yup, it's Camelot. Remember the song from the musical?
Jan :earsgirl:

I loved that film. I had the LP and used to sing along and dream!!!

Actually Aruba is close - mostly it is 78-82 degrees with a light tradewind. In either Mar/Apr or Apr/May the winds are a little stronger and the windsurfers and kiters are in heaven.

Aruba sounds great!

Marilyn (grandmaz) -- I think you misquoted me in post #19644.

What I said:

What you "quoted":

Is the second paragraph yours?

Mrs. Woody would be disappointed if I let anyone other than her speak for me.

Woody

Lol Woody!!!:rotfl: It must have been the way the quote turned out!!!

 Tuition for my school just went up to $907/credit! :scared: And they're the 12th lowest cost law school in the country. I'd hate to see what the most expensive is. As it is, they say I'll run out of available student loan funds before I graduate. YIKES!!!!!

Although I don't understand the system it sounds horrendous Holly. You must be very determined.

Wow! I have to admit that I was lucky. When I went to law school I paid around $2500 a term for law school -- so $5000 a year which is what my DS pays now for his undergraduate tuition. (That's about $1000 a credit as I think he takes 5 credits a year). Tuition at law schools here though have skyrocketed in the last few years and it's now approx $14,000 a year!!! One law school is close to $20,000 a year. Not sure how anyone can afford this. I graduated in 1995 so it's not too long ago really.

I do feel for you Holly -- it's tough going but will be worth it in the end.

Fiona

Marilyn, I just heard on the news that the Spanish police arrested an Italian man connected to the Maddie kidnapping. They said they don't have any other details yet and stay tuned. Let's hope it leads to finding Maddie and that she is still alive. ;)

hi all, sorry I haven't checked in in a while. Hope everyone is well and things are going great!!

Does anyone have any idea what a good price for airfare is? I found a one way from LAX to Sarasota (smaller airport but wouldn't have to drive home from Tampa or Orlanda) and it's $219 per person....is that good or could I possibly get it cheaper?

I do hope so, but details are sketchy of course. It is just so heartbreaking. We want to see her safely home.

Hi, great to see you. Hope you are well.

Hi everyone . . . been too busy for a couple of days, and we just passed a major milestone on my previous thread last night . . . 75,000 posts (I got #75,001! rats!).

Anyway, just wanted to check in, and let you know our son arrived in London today. He is taking it easy and resting after being on a flight that was delayed 3 hours due to weather in the US.

He arrived at Gatwick, and took train and subway safely to his Hostel in London. We are going to try and speak over skype tomorrow. He is also going to go to Wimbledon on Friday.

Glad he arrived safely John. Unfortunately we are due more bad rain over the weekend - it just never ends!:sad2:

I have just watched the US weather on CNN and Texas is haveing bad floods too, with the bad weather band stretching way up. She said it has been the second wettest June there with the chance of being the wettest ever! For us it is certainly the wettest June ever. There have been 5 deaths because of the floods unfortunately.:sad1:

Wimbledon will be a great experience.

Bet he won't 'rest' for long though!

Actually perfect timing, so I could just fly down for the weekend and meet up with DH and everyone! :cool1: Don't count on me though, if it happens it would be totally a last minute decision!

Same goes for me. So put Tori - ?

Hi V.

Seems alot of folks are busy this summer.

As far as your price, it sounds like that might be good. I just booked our flight from LAX to MCO for this trip and paid 205.00 pp on delta.

I'm waiting for AirTran rates to come out. Hoping they will have a good special to Atl.

Jackie has been spotted! She is quite the organizer, eh? Has a roll call and excursions list for all who posted already up and running.

Well, to graduate from law school, you take 90 credits. Each class is usually 3 credits, but some are 2. Each semester (15 weeks long) I take 2 or 3 classes. Each credit is $907.00. PLUS the cost books for each class can be around $200.00. The average law school debt is $100,000.00 upon graduation. :scared:  :sad2: Very scary numbers.

Well, I'm sure it will all work out in the end. :goodvibes And by the time I'm done paying off my student loans, it will be time to pay for Tyler's college! But at least I'll have help with that because when he was just a couple months old, his dad told me he started a college fund for him. What a relief!
