Well they will be in the same club then. I just wanted there to be enough kids for it to be fun. We've taken them to kids clubs before and they usually don't want us to pick them up because their friends are still there. I'm soooo excited and now that I found this forum, I know I'm going to drive my husband crazy!

I stumbled onto this site a few years ago and it has become quite addictive!

I think there will be plenty of kids...maybe not as many as the August cruise, but definitely enough to have fun with!
My DD can't wait through the entire meal, she is wanting to go to the club!!

I went outside a bit ago, and it is gorgeous today. Too nice to be stuck in an office working!

Noel- I know how your daughter feels.

I found out that one of my classes I am taking will not transfer (I am at a 2 yr college right now) to UT. My advisor knew nothing about my major and just gave me a list of classes a few years ago to follow. Well since them I took a few semesters of (got married, Disney College Programs etc.). WHen I met with her this year to ask some questions she said just follow the list. Fine, I did. Them my teacher asked why I was taking her class and I told her it was required. She met with me and explained it was NOT required and would not tranfer. I was in tears. I have several learning disabilities and school is very hard for me, now they are telling me I took a class for nothing. SO I met with a different advisor, who told me the classes changed in 2004, and I should of been done by now and I was taking too long. I was very upset with her and left with more questions.

My mom told me to meet with the Dean and ask for the grade off my record and my $$$ back for the class and I am going too. I also have to call UT and talk to them and get my other classes I have taken approved and see what to take now. I only had 5 classes left too!!! I am so upset!!!

All b/c at my college they but us with any advisor that has room. She know nothing about my major. I also have to change advisors but have to find one on my own.

I found this all out last week. Finals are this week.

I am done crying over it though and will get through it. My sanity is still here b/c I know we are leaving for Disney in 4 days.

I wish your daughter the best of luck, pixiedust:

There are kids going...just doesn't seem like that many. They all may end up fast friends! Our DD will be 6 and DS will be 9 at cruise time.

Welcome aboard!

LisaG....Did I miss the update? How did MouseAdventure (is that what it's called) go this weekend???

Peggy...we're here...just lurking a bit. Last two weekends were busy with the Avocado Festival (DS performed...recorder and dance!) and a gymFest at Knott's Berry Farm for DD.

Cherie...in DH's perfect world Winblows would be extinct...

Thank you for sharing your story with me. My heart just goes out to you.

I am hopeful that you will able to get your money back for the class. There just is no excuse for your advisor giving you such bad advice or to be rude. Perhaps the teacher in the class you were advised would not transfer will be of help.

My best wishes to you and have a wonderful, magical vacation!!

Sounds great. That is almost a perfect match! They'll be in the same clubs. I was worried because Ethan will be 8 on May 9 so I thought he may be too young for the older club. I guess I got worried when I found out that kids 8 and up could check themselves in. I thought "is he going to be the only one with his mommy checking him in"!!!! I'm so excited to meet people here. I think it will be fun to talk to people before the cruise and after if anyone wants to. I see a lot of you already know a lot about each other. I would also like to hear about any ideas you have if you've already been on the DCL before.

We're home and all is well. The surgery went smoothly. Easy to take tubes out, a bit harder than putting them in. He just had a liquid sendative and gas, no IV, so when Wilson did wake up he was in pain. He got a shot of moraphine in his hinnie and calmed down a bit. He still is saying he has a bit of pain. I think it might just be discomfort, so hard to tell with kids.

I'm hoping this is the last of surgery for a while. 3 sets of ear tubes (& yes he had his adnoids out too the 2nd time) and one surgery to remove them. That's enough!

I'm also not looking forward to the bill. Being self employeed we buy our own coverage, pay $1100.00 per month and *each* of us have $1500 annual deductibles and then insurance coverages 70%. I got a letter last week telling me that the surgery center cost alone is $1700 out of pocket, not to mention what the surgeon or anesthesia costs! I figure this will be close to $5K. Man that's a cruise in off season for us, cat 4. Oh well, not this summer :sad2:

We're going to enjoy our caroons now :happytv:

I'm glad it went well. I hope Wilson is feeling better soon. It's so hard on us parents when our children are hurting. I feel your pain about the insurance as well. We also buy our own coverage, and we carry extremely high deductibles to keep the premium down to a reasonable level. We figure we have the insurance just for major medical: a prolonged illness or an accident. Everything else comes right out of our pocket. Ouch!

Welcome. At the time of the cruise my sons will be 10 and 7. And no way will your son be the only one with his mommy checking him in. I will be right there with you. :rotfl: I asked my oldest whether he would want check-in/check-out privileges and at this time he says "no." Of course that could all change in a year and then we'd have to discuss it. I don't think I can handle it. :rotfl:

Gaylean: It looks like you already checked out the information on the first page, but I didn't know if you saw that there is a kids' chat group set up on yahoo. It is a password protected group, and you can pm Disneycruising to get the login and password information. My boys haven't been very active on it yet, but when cruise time gets closer, I know they will enjoy chatting and making friends before the cruise.

I think it will be a great cruise for the kids. There should be plenty of kids to hang out with, but the clubs and pool shouldn't be too crowded. That's what I'm hoping for anyway. :thumbsup2

. I see a lot of you already know a lot about each other.

Different 'clusters' of us have cruised together before. I've also met a couple of people from DIS meets at WDW over the years. We've already had two DIS meets for the Arizona "Thieves" and will probably have more. There is a DIS meet in Disneyland on Sunday 5/20...a group of about 30 of us! :thumbsup2 I seems like a lot of us will be at WDW in early December, so there will be some 'meet's there too. But after 15,000 posts, those of us who never met before 1/31 have had the chance to learn quite a bit about each other. Read often, post when you can.

I would also like to hear about any ideas you have if you've already been on the DCL before.

We've got a lot of experienced cruisers here, so feel free to ask all the questions you want. I find reading the DCL Trip Reports to be very helpful AND very fun. It's one of the best ways to find out those "I didn't know you could do that" stuff!

Speaking of those of you traveling to WDW in December (and November), the Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party tickets went on sale today. You can also book an ADR at Liberty Tree Tavern, Tony's OR Cinderella's Royal Table (that's NEW) for the night of your party, starting at 6PM. If you want to dine earlier/elsewhere you have to wait till the 180 day window to book those ADRs. If you call for your tickets and the CM says you can't book the dining, tell them they have to go into 'special events' in the computer to do it. That's the scoop.

Samantha is going make appointments to speak to the both the head of the department and Dean. The Dean's response to Sam's email was pretty off target and didn't even address any of the points she made. If you read my earlier post which detailed her email, she didn't even read the email properly as Sam has been forced to withdraw or take a failing grade at this point.

We shall see what happens from there.
Wishing her luck! Please keep us posted on what happens.

So...it is not just me?! I had one of those mornings and am hoping that my afternoon will be much better! V...you are much closer to the end than me though, I still have 5 hours left:sad1:

On a happy note, Perla's mom called me this am to tell me that the remedy I gave her worked within 20 minutes and she was able to go back to the party and dance and have fun until 5 am!!!! I was so excited to hear that I was able to help and that she was able to celebrate her big day.
I'm so glad Perla recovered and was able to enjoy her special day! :goodvibes

Nan: I'm happy to hear things went well for Wilson and hope he recovers quickly. :goodvibes

Glad it went well - we know right where you've been. DS had tubes too (the kind that fall out) and after one set, he was great - they also took out his adnoids. Sophia had her adnoids and tonsils taken out because she kept getting infections. This was when she was 2.

Normally they only allow one parent to go back to recovery after surgery, but they let us both go back because she was one ANGRY, PO'd little two year old - who wanted to rip everything out and get out of that bed!

I'm the exact opposite. Because I only work 30 hours/week, I don't have insurance through work. I have a county "health plan" which covers minor doctor visits, but anything major, including hospitalization, would be out of pocket for me. Very scary position to be in, so it's one more incentive to get through school and work full-time so I can get medical benefits through an employer. Fortunately, Tyler's dad is required to carry coverage on him, so he's set in that regard. Big relief!

Welcome aboard!

My daughters will be 9 and 6 at the time of sailing. I am hoping with less kids on board they will have even more fun and hopefully more character interaction!

And we are hoping the same with our 8 year old (at cruise time) dd!

At some point in the future Kaylee, I am sure we also will gain a different perspective of medical insurance as our son enters med school this fall.

We are thinking the same thing - lucky for us another person on our thread has cruised with us before, and Sophia and Savannah are great buds! Sophia loves making friends of all ages though, and loves Vanessa's younger girls too.

GREAT NEWS today! For those of you who remember my student loan stress, it's official! The funds were deposited today and I've received confirmation. :woohoo: WOOHOO! So I have to hurry up and buy my books this week and get my assignments done because classes start Monday. :yay:

NotSoLittleMermaid: Oh, I'm sorry to hear about your car and that dust storm. It looks like we are going to have an early monsoon season.

Wow, miss a day and your 6 pages behind....

Cute firefighter party pictures.

GenX's "Baby" Cruisers....UNITE!

The story was very touching. God works in wonderous ways.

Glad the surgery went well. When I need to escape my thoughts, I just think "ARUBA".

On the college issues (both of them), SQUEAK, SQUEAK, SQUEAK...the squeaky wheel gets oiled. What have you got to lose?

Welcome Gaylean93. I think there are more kids on this cruise than are being posted yet.

Hope I didn't miss anything, but know I'm thinking of you.
