Noel- I know how your daughter feels.

I found out that one of my classes I am taking will not transfer (I am at a 2 yr college right now) to UT. My advisor knew nothing about my major and just gave me a list of classes a few years ago to follow. Well since them I took a few semesters of (got married, Disney College Programs etc.). WHen I met with her this year to ask some questions she said just follow the list. Fine, I did. Them my teacher asked why I was taking her class and I told her it was required. She met with me and explained it was NOT required and would not tranfer. I was in tears. I have several learning disabilities and school is very hard for me, now they are telling me I took a class for nothing. SO I met with a different advisor, who told me the classes changed in 2004, and I should of been done by now and I was taking too long. I was very upset with her and left with more questions.

My mom told me to meet with the Dean and ask for the grade off my record and my $$$ back for the class and I am going too. I also have to call UT and talk to them and get my other classes I have taken approved and see what to take now. I only had 5 classes left too!!! I am so upset!!!

All b/c at my college they but us with any advisor that has room. She know nothing about my major. I also have to change advisors but have to find one on my own.

I found this all out last week. Finals are this week.

I am done crying over it though and will get through it. My sanity is still here b/c I know we are leaving for Disney in 4 days.

I wish your daughter the best of luck, pixiedust:

When I went to college I found out there was only one thing worse than my HS guidance counselor - my college advisor! At the large University I went to, they did about less than zero for me. I learned more about what I needed to do from my friends.

LisaG....Did I miss the update? How did MouseAdventure (is that what it's called) go this weekend???

Peggy...we're here...just lurking a bit. Last two weekends were busy with the Avocado Festival (DS performed...recorder and dance!) and a gymFest at Knott's Berry Farm for DD.

Cherie...in DH's perfect world Winblows would be extinct...

Carolyn

Sounds like my perfect world too! :rolleyes1

GREAT NEWS today! For those of you who remember my student loan stress, it's official! The funds were deposited today and I've received confirmation. :woohoo: WOOHOO! So I have to hurry up and buy my books this week and get my assignments done because classes start Monday. :yay:

:thumbsup2 Holly. I bet that was a big sigh of relief!

MouseAdventure was great. We had a blast but I'm just now starting to feel recovered from it. You wouldn't think running around DL solving word puzzles and finding eyespy items for 5 hours wold be tiring but it was exhausting. A couple of people had pedometers and registed over 9 miles each in the 5 hours! We will definitely be signing up for the next one in Nov. There were over 500 of us running around both parks and downtown to try and complete the quests. The teams that won did amazingly well. We won't know our score or placement until later in the week - only the top 3 teams in each division were announced there.

Of course after doing that all day and then driving home 90 mintues (great traffic!) we get home to find Sweetie limping.

Here's a picture of Sweetie:

She wouldn't put any weight on her back right leg and was holding it with the toes curled tight. So off to the 24 hr vet hospital at 8pm Sunday night. they x-rayed and it's not broken so they think it is probably sprained and sent her home with pain meds. So for the next few days she is in solitary locked in our master bath so she can't run around with our other cat Jasper. Which of course is probably how she got hurt in the first place... Tonight she is starting to straighten out her leg, not putting any weight on it but not holding it up tight either. The vet thinks by Thursday she should show definite improvement so any pixie dust would be great for her. She is not enjoying her confinement at all. But we figure this is better than being in a tiny cage at the vets (which was the other option).

Oh yes, come join us for Sunday supper at Storytellers! clynne and her family will be there, it would be a great chance for the kids to meet!! Think about it....think about it REAL HARD! :)

And we are hoping the same with our 8 year old (at cruise time) dd!

At some point in the future Kaylee, I am sure we also will gain a different perspective of medical insurance as our son enters med school this fall.

Be prepared for some not so fun realizations John.:scared1: OK, so it might not be all that bad and hopefully by the time your son is done with med school the health care crisis in the US will be over and doctors can just go back to being doctors rather than stressing over other ways to make a buck! I am shocked at what insurance companies can get away with...and new things happen all the time that blow me away.
My biggest advice for your son....take any and all practice management courses they may offer. They don't seem that exciting compared to others, but I wish I had more than I took. Doctors make horrible business people, or at least I do:lmao:

 :woohoo: :dance3: :cheer2: GREAT NEWS HOLLY! Thanks for sharing it with us. So....where are you headed to celebrate this weekend?!:cheer2: :dance3: :woohoo:

And...for those of us sad ones stuck at home, you will be sharing pictures and stories, right?! ;) I did ask DH if we could head that way and I think he pretty much spit his dinner out in my face from shock and disbelief that I would actually ask him if we could head to CA for dinner!:lmao:

My vacation ticker is wrong:sad2: I don't know which time zone it is in, but it keeps losing a day on me. It will say I am there before I even hit the airport! Oh well, guess that means I can start my vacation a day early, right?! :lmao:

Looks like I am too early for Karen and too late for everyone else....so here I sit, all alone. I won't even try to do the song (even though I would only be typing the words people might abandon the thread out of fear for their ears:lmao: ).

Night everyone! or Good morning everyone!

Kaylee's right, insurance is a joke, I cannot tell you what we're going through insurance wise in regards to Mark's wrist surgery and also for when Ryan was hospitalized in NJ with the flu over Christmas. Right now we could have our cruise paid off for and then some if I didn't have to pay what I've paid for Mark and Ryan because insurance is bickering over one thing or another. It's so annoying and frustrating. More and more I realize insurance is really only for catastrophic medical events....

I promise to take pics and post here for everyone to see!!! :thumbsup2

Well another month end is upon us...this week will be hectic at work as I am also covering for someone on vacation. Nothing major but it is not something I am used to preparing. We leave for WDW on the 13th and I am so looking forward to it. The past couple months I have just been so stressed...with all of our monthly bills going up - things like that bother me tremendously, John - not so much, his philosophy is "it's only money, we'll make more"....I plan on trying my hardest to relax, go with the flow and have fun for the week of our vacation.

Ditto!! I am the stressor of the two of us!

We're going to stop by my mom's on the way over - she is having Grandma over for breakfast so we'll visit with them for Mother's Day for a bit and maybe stop by John's parents...but they will probably be at church so I don't know about that.

Other than that - I wish the cruise were coming up...I could use all those sea days sitting in a deck chair right about now.

Ditto again!!!

Isn't there some sort of precedent that covers the changes in requirements and allows you to use the prior requirements if you had achieved those already? I seem to remember this from a hundred years ago when I went to a JC.

Best of luck, I hope that it all works out for you.

Karen

Welcome. At the time of the cruise my sons will be 10 and 7. And no way will your son be the only one with his mommy checking him in. I will be right there with you. :rotfl: I asked my oldest whether he would want check-in/check-out privileges and at this time he says "no." Of course that could all change in a year and then we'd have to discuss it. I don't think I can handle it. :rotfl:

Our DD was 10 1/2 on the last Panama Cruise and we let her have check-in/check-out privileges and she enjoyed the freedom and we felt good about trusting her. She regrets not spending more time in club and getting to know the other kids better until the end.

We will be on a cruise in November and she will be almost 13, so we are going back and forth as to what level club to put her in.

Congratulations Holly!!!

I'm so glad that this weight has been lifted from you!!

Enjoy your last few days of "freedom"!!
