Lisa, have you found a new pink outfit for your champagne girls picture...and new pink shoes and a bag too. Anybody shopping for cruise yet? We're almost at the one year date and then we can BOOK ALL OF OUR RESSIES. That makes me happy. :goodvibes

did someone mention SHOPPING?;) :cool1: I'm always shopping for a cruise Deb! I'm hoping some of the things I bought for this cruise will be ok next year too :) :woohoo:

Deb,
DH and I have been going over plans and finances all night for the shop; these constant delays are just killing us! We are still hoping to have a "soft" opening the last weekend of April with our Grand Opening the third week of May.

Our contractor has been delayed with weird things going on at his other work site (he is fitting us in as we were in line for his services for months last year, but now he is booked when we need him and he is working us in around his other jobs.) Our power and water were supposed to have been transferred in January and they were not, so there wasn't power or water there last week when we were in Bodega and he couldn't get a hold of us either.

If we just could have opened 6 months ago, we would not be starting in such a deep hole. It's very frustrating.

I really think that we should be canceling our DL trip in May too... It really makes the most sense, but I know that DH and DD really live for these breaks in our busy schedules and would be horribly disappointed. After all, we booked this trip as part of our "cancellation package" for canceling our Med cruise in July.

Cheez wiz... I just realized how dire this sounds, so sorry to unload and expound!!!

Thanks for noticin'...

Karen

Karen, more  for you. Hope this move gets sorted soon, and that you get to holiday too as I'm sure you all need to play a little too!

Well, for those that may be interested in our dinner out last night...it was wonderful.....BUT......I have the worst hangover! I rarely get them and didn't drink as much as I have done in the past so it's weird:confused3

Anyway, typing this with my eyes screwed up (can you imagine the funny picture?):rotfl2: against that bright light outside.....

We had cocktails to start (of course) mine were cosmopolitans and Mark had his favourite G & T,s. YUM!

Then we had a glass of champagne ....I'm a champagne girl of course(sorry can't remember what it was) with our first course....mine was a risotto of mussels & lobster and something that tasted absolutley delicious! Mark had squid with ginger and lime (or something like that!).

With our main course we had a very nice bottle of Shiraz to accompany my roasted duck with sea kale and braised lentils in a lovely port wine jus, and Mark had the rib eye....but I can't remember what accompanied his. We also had creamed leeks with pancetta and roast new potatoes with thyme.....

After a long pause to let some of the food settle (!) we finished with the cheese board for Mark (a wonderful selection of 18 cheeses including 'stinky bishop':rotfl2: ) and lemon and saffron cake with yoghurt ice cream for me...and a glass of port for Mark!:dance3:

has this made you hungry? (or feel slightly sick at this time of the morning?) :rolleyes1

I know I'm talking to myself again but guess what just arrived at my door with the lovely UPS man?......

Our Cruise tickets! yay

:cool1: :cool1: :dance3: :dance3: :cool1: :cool1:

Just a week til we leave here for Disney, then another week til our 4th cruise.....

I LOVE when the cruise tickets get here...it makes it more real and very close to leaving....YEAH, YEAH, YEAH!

One week till World, then another week till cruise....I wouldn't even unpack. Just wash everything and throw it back into the suitcase.

GOOD FOR YOU...You Lucky Dog....Do let us know all the details when you can...we all want to live vicariously through you for a couple of weeks....:cloud9:

I was traveling all day today and CNN everywhere. So sad. I'm in New Orleans at a conference. It is so strange that so many restaurants/shops are still closed. There is a huge shopping center as you enter into town and the taxi driver said that DeBartolo, the 49ers owner, has done nothing to fix it. It is maybe 30 stories and most of the windows are shattered. After listening to CNN all day between flights and then hearing the taxi driver's story of 8 ft of water in his home and insurance not covering a penny of it....so sad. I think we are in need for some Disney Magic. Lisa

Our church group has taken several trips to Mississippi and LA. As a matter of fact, many from our church are in Mississippi right now. The devistation is unbelievable. We really miss our Senior Pastor right now, with everything we have had happen this week. I think the group that is there now is about 30 people. I know it is God's plan and the group is in the right place doing the right work ... but I miss them!!

Each time a group goes, they are assigned a house to work on that was not covered by insurance. We have had roof work, drywall work, framing....
We have one young couple named Jenni and Aaron. Aaron is a home builder by trade and Jenni works at the church with the middle school kids. They have made the decision to leave their jobs in the fall and go and live in this region. They are doing this though a mission group and they will direct churches that want to come and help. They really believe this is their dream and I am so happy for them.....I will miss them as well.

Right now, I would go on the cruise with two broken legs and arms and still have fun...I NEED DCL! :yay:

My friend started chemo today and said she wished she just "slit her wrists."

Me too!! I need to have DCL take me away!! I think today may be 100 days til our Med cruise

Remind us of your friend's name, I need to add her back into my prayer list.

A very dear friend of ours, a single dad who is a doctor and 42 years old, started Chemo again for a second time. His kids are 9th grade, 6th grade and 5th grade. This time the cancer is in Liver.....I know he is very scared. He is inpatient at NIH. We are lucky to have such a wonderful facility so close to us. His name is Wyatt....

When my DH's brother had cancer 10 years ago, he was treated at NIH....I think that may have saved him as he was Stage 4

Hooping class this morning, hair appointment this afternoon and then packing!!

Flight is mid afternoon tomorrow.

Have a wonderful vacation!!:dance3: :dance3: :dance3: :dance3: :dance3:

I know I'm talking to myself again but guess what just arrived at my door with the lovely UPS man?......

Sounds a very special meal Angel. Sorry about the hangover. Can it be a particular wine that causes problems? Maybe you just can't drink as much as you used to!!!:rotfl2:

Sounds like a wonderful time!!

As I have gotten older, it is not the drinks that make me feel terible the next day, it is the food!! I have trouble eating rich food anymore.

I can go out still and drink what ever I want and still not feel bad the next day, but add a rich meal in and I feel horrible.

My DH calls it a Food Hanover. Do any of you have Maggianos Resturant? http://www.maggianos.com/index2.asp

I always get a food hangover there. The food is SOOOOOOOOOOOO good, but SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much.

I think that is very true Lisa. I have also found as I have got older I can't eat as late and going to bed feeling bloated is not good!

I worry a little about the late seating on the cruise, but I think I am just going to have to get used to it as I want to eat everything!!!

I've just looked at the link to the restaurants Lisa. Wow, great food, and just look at those desserts!!!!:thumbsup2 :cloud9:

Cheri....boy I soooooo wish I was retired! ;) See you Friday at dinner!

I can't believe how fortunate I am to be able to do things like this. Sometimes I think I should feel guilty--but then I think, "Why?" and I remind myself that I worked for 35 years. Until Dec. '06, I had "gone to school" every year since I was 5 years old!

PS I bought some special earrings in SD to wear to dinner Fri. night!:woohoo:

HEY>>>>GUESS WHAT!!!

I just found out there will be a space shuttle (Atlantis) launch on 12/6....the day I board the Wonder for my surf and turf....launch time scheduled for 4:30PM!! :cool1: :cool1: Pray everything stays on schedule....how cool!!!!!!!!!

I hope that works out--I would love to see something like that!

I hope everything works out so you can still go on your trip, Karen!

What wonderful, inspiring people! It reminds me that people are good, especially in this time of tragedy.

::yes:: in Scottsdale. Haven't been there yet....it's on the list!

This may be the place for our next AZ DISmeet!:thumbsup2

Hi Cheri, sounds like you're having the time of your life! Keep doing your daily reports...even though we're all jealous, we love hearing about your days of fun in the sun.:cool1:

The sky is blue this morning! YEA!!!:cool1:

Yesterday it was overcast until about 3 pm. But I drove over to the coast anyway and after cruising around awhile stopped in Seal Beach. It was so quiet and low-key. I easily found a parking spot right at the beach. I chatted with a local for awhile, walked out to the end of the pier and back and settled on the beach for a little sketching and meditating.

About 3 I headed to Disneyland, with a stop at WalMart to buy some clothes to carry me through the trip since it's lasting about 5 days longer than I'd anticipated.

Hung out at DL until nearly closing--it, too, was very low-key. Caught the last show of Billy Hill, listened to some jazz in NOS, caught the parade and rode BLY several times, trying to get to level 5 (never did).

Here are some pictures from yesterday.

Well, I'm burnin' daylight! Later....

I'm stuck at home, unable to move about due to this darn sprain and thinking about how insignificant my problems are compared to all the pain and suffering going on in VA, and around the entire world for that matter.

My heartfelt prayers go to all the families suffering such a horrible loss. I really couldn't post any condolences until now as I think it has taken me this long just to process the whole thing.

Not too long ago I had a friend who lost her children very tragically and all I wanted to do was gather up my kids and never let them leave my side. Now that they are grown I never let them leave without making sure they know how much I love them.

I always get a food hangover there. The food is SOOOOOOOOOOOO good, but SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much.

We have one less than a mile away...makes for yummy take out. Which we do about 3 or 4 times a week(different places of course). DH is the chef in our house and with work most of the time it dinner gets pushed back until the last moment and then we get take out.

Trying to get caught up here, but I think work will interfere today. :rotfl2:

Hope he improves and that you DON'T GET SICK!! Airborne or zinc time.

Karen
I swear by Airborne! I hadn't been sick in over a year due to taking Airborne faithfully, whenever around sickies. At least I believe because I quit taking it for a week and BAM! Got sick with my recent bronchitis-type mess a couple weeks ago. Same with Tyler. He used to take it too, and never got sick when all the kids at day care passed around a cold 2 or 3 times, and his dad and stepmom even had 2 sinus infections. BUT he just couldn't stand drinking it anymore, since it does taste quite nasty. The carbonation grossed him out too, because he's never had pop and didn't know what the fizziness was all about. :rotfl:

Glad to hear you are feeling better. One of my best friends suffers horribly from migraines and I am the one to always tell her that she needs to sit down, have some protein (she is also hypo-gloximic (sp?)) and I can tell when she no longer is suffering as badly!

Take care!!!

Karen
Yup, I'm my normal bouncy self today! But I did forget to take my preventative meds today, so I hope that doesn't trigger another migraine. Should be fine as long as I take it as soon as I get home. :thumbsup2 Migraines SUCK! :headache:

Holly, ask your doctor for Norflex. See if you can take it with your daily Rx. It's a muscle relaxer that is non-narcotic. It really helps my migraines. If it helps you too, why suffer? DD takes it too when she gets migraines and it helps her too. Call your doctor and check it out. Hope it makes you feel better.
I was thinking it was over the counter.....no wonder I couldn't find it! I'll call sometime this week if I remember. Thanks for the tip! :goodvibes

Sounds like a lovely dinner Angel and what a great night out with the one you love!

oh it really was Deb! I'm really just trying to get in training for next year's cruise with you!;) :rotfl2: :thumbsup2 (oh...just read that back...I mean for the drinking, not 'with the one I love' you understand....although you do seem very nice.....I'll shut up now I think......:rolleyes1

I LOVE when the cruise tickets get here...it makes it more real and very close to leaving....YEAH, YEAH, YEAH!

sorry Deb, meant we're going straight from the world to the cruise....I phrased it badly in my UK voice!;) we're going to try and split the clothes in our cases to a 'cruise' case and a 'parks' case.....:rotfl2: it'll never work becasue how do I know what I'll fancy wearing one day to the next?:confused3 :rotfl: I shall be doing a trip report for my 'other' board I moderate so will post it here too if you like!
