Deb,
DH and I have been going over plans and finances all night for the shop; these constant delays are just killing us! We are still hoping to have a "soft" opening the last weekend of April with our Grand Opening the third week of May.

Our contractor has been delayed with weird things going on at his other work site (he is fitting us in as we were in line for his services for months last year, but now he is booked when we need him and he is working us in around his other jobs.) Our power and water were supposed to have been transferred in January and they were not, so there wasn't power or water there last week when we were in Bodega and he couldn't get a hold of us either.

If we just could have opened 6 months ago, we would not be starting in such a deep hole. It's very frustrating.

I really think that we should be canceling our DL trip in May too... It really makes the most sense, but I know that DH and DD really live for these breaks in our busy schedules and would be horribly disappointed. After all, we booked this trip as part of our "cancellation package" for canceling our Med cruise in July.

Cheez wiz... I just realized how dire this sounds, so sorry to unload and expound!!!

Thanks for noticin'...

Sounds a very special meal Angel. Sorry about the hangover. Can it be a particular wine that causes problems? Maybe you just can't drink as much as you used to!!!:rotfl2:

You're probably right, I'm just getting old!:confused3 :guilty:

Sounds like a wonderful time!!

As I have gotten older, it is not the drinks that make me feel terible the next day, it is the food!! I have trouble eating rich food anymore.

I can go out still and drink what ever I want and still not feel bad the next day, but add a rich meal in and I feel horrible.

maybe that doesnt help either!:rolleyes1

Sounds like you had a great night out and the food sounds wonderful. Sorry you aren't feeling so well this morning...you should feel better as the day goes on...not that I know this from experience or anything;)

Yay:cool1: How exciting. I can hardly wait until next year when I'll be opening my door one day to accept my cruise ticket:cool1:

just starting to feel better now after visiting with my sister all afternoon :)

Here's an e-mail I just received from a dean at my school:

Hi Everyone,
A Virginia Tech alumnus here at Cooley wrote me to indicate that the alumni and friends of Virginia Tech across the world are planning on wearing orange and maroon (school colors) this Friday, April 20. It turns out we have a few V Tech alumni at Cooley and the show of support may go a long way toward helping them through this tragedy.

Karen:
 Hope it all works out really soon. I understand the frustration and bet you will really enjoy that DL trip in May since everything will be all settled by then:thumbsup2

:cool1: :cool1: :dance3: :dance3: :cool1: :cool1:

Just a week til we leave here for Disney, then another week til our 4th cruise.....

:dance3: :woohoo: :woohoo: :dance3: How exciting....only 375 or so days until we all get our cruise tickets.

The sky is blue this morning! YEA!!!:cool1:
Hung out at DL until nearly closing--it, too, was very low-key. Caught the last show of Billy Hill, listened to some jazz in NOS, caught the parade and rode BLY several times, trying to get to level 5 (never did).
....

OK, gotta say BLY drives me crazy. I think I am the absolute WORST at the ride and always get stuck in a car with a broken gun:lmao: If I even get to level 2 I am :yay: :dance3: DH drives me crazy and always gets to some crazy score and laughs at me. Even my 6 your old beats me. See, I told you, my space shooter laser just doesn't work.

Trying to get caught up here, but I think work will interfere today. :rotfl2:

I swear by Airborne! I hadn't been sick in over a year due to taking Airborne faithfully, whenever around sickies. At least I believe because I quit taking it for a week and BAM! Got sick with my recent bronchitis-type mess a couple weeks ago. Same with Tyler. He used to take it too, and never got sick when all the kids at day care passed around a cold 2 or 3 times, and his dad and stepmom even had 2 sinus infections. BUT he just couldn't stand drinking it anymore, since it does taste quite nasty. The carbonation grossed him out too, because he's never had pop and didn't know what the fizziness was all about. :rotfl:

Gotta recommend Immune Fizz! It is about 10x stronger than Airborne. I know the owner, h owns a company that sells supplements to doctors only and then started Zip Fizz and recently added Immune Fizz. Tastes better than Airborne and works better too...in my little ole opinion. I dilute it much more than they recommend and only do 1/3 to 1/2 packet per day. My kids love it. Costco carries all the products.

Oooohhh.....I'll have to try it! Never heard of it. We don't have Costco, but I'll check and see if Sam's Club has it (they seem to be similar to Costco) or I'm sure I can buy it online. Thanks for the tip! I'll check it out right now....or when I get home since it's time to leave work in 4 minutes. WOOHOO! :woohoo:

Edited to add: FOUND IT! I can buy it at Costco online for $19.99 plus shipping. Will buy this week to try it out. :)

375 days? Oh, that seems like a lifetime......I was looking at the sheet I have for "cruise budget" and about fell off my chair - the tips and passports alone are an extra $1k.
I told John he better go hike his pant leg up on his lunch breaks.

Everyone in VA has done this all week. I have on my VA Tech sweatshirt. I have been washing it everynight. When I have been calling on customers, they don't mind at all that I have on a sweatshirt instead of a suit.

Everyone is wearing a ribbon maroon/orange.

The news just said that NBC received a package this morning from the shooter and they believe it was sent between the first and second shootings. They said it was writings, video and pictures.

We have been having high winds here in Southern California and I guess a tree fell on the Jungle Cruise in Disneyland and injured a 17 year old girl. I hope she is O.K. They said she complained of neck pain but that was all they said.

I was figuring that out the other day also. I don't think I am going to bring it up to DH until we have paid in full and no cancelling option.:rotfl:

What seems even more disturbing is that Reuters says the package appears to have been mailed in between the dorm and the classroom shootings.

On a more positive note, my nephew is presenting at Web 2.0 Expo 2007 at the Moscone Center in San Francisco:

Web 2.0: Viddler Lets Users Add Video, Text Comments to Movies

viddler1.jpg

Viddler.com, a rapidly growing YouTube competitor, launched new features at the Web 2.0 conference Monday that allow users to add both text and video comments to videos at at any moment in the film.

Launched in December, 2006, the Bethlehem, PA site demonstrated the new features during the San Francisco event and can be seen at the company's demo site. http://www.viddler.com/explore/sandieman/videos/135/13.00/

"Both the author and visitors can pop in a comment any where on the video's timeline," said Robert Sandie, the company's president. "You can see where this would be really valuable, if for example, you had a long video of your kid and you wanted to point out the highlight moments. You can place a comment as can the visitor," he said.

Sandie also said that the ability to place commentary, whether in the form of a video or text, could be very useful for businesses by allowing end users, both internal and external, to note the important points, weaknesses, and strength of the content at the places in the timeline where they choose.

In a sense, the new features mimic the popular Flickr.com tool that allows photo viewers to put comments directly on places in the picture they find of most interest.

As more information comes to light, this just becomes more and more disturbing (and scarey). He was obviously a very troubled young man. Makes you ask more and more, all those, "what if" questions that make the situation even more difficult to digest.

Tree Limb Falls on Person Riding Boat at Disneyland

Person Suffered Minor Injuries

Apr. 18, 2007 (KABC-TV) - Anaheim Fire officials say a tree limb fell on a passenger who was riding a boat on the Jungle Cruise ride at Disneyland on Wednesday.

Officials say the person suffered minor injuries in the incident, which happened at 12:40 p.m.

So far there is no word on whether the wind played a factor in the limb falling. People in Anaheim told Eyewitness News it was windy there on Wednesday afternoon.
