Looks a nice day today, though windy. But it is March - in like a lion, out like a lamb and all that!!

Going to the gym in a mo. Feel fat today - too much bread I think all landing on my tum!:sad2:

Not too sure about the punk and poetry......CBGB's is the only thing that comes to mind......and I'm not even sure it fits. Don't you just love the village. That's the best part of the city to me. I took night classes at NYU and loved the neighborhood.

CBGB's definitely counts. It was one of those unknown places in East Village that suddenly became famous.

I used to hang out in the Village all the time. I have not been back for nearly 18 years. I'm sure it must have all changed by now.

I moved to Chicago in 1983. At first I went back to NY nearly every other weekend. Now, Chicago is my home (it should be after 25 years).

Actually, Chicago reminds me of Brooklyn, or what Brooklyn would have been had Manhattan not been there and Brooklyn continued to develop as a full city.

To me, Chicago looks a bit like Brooklyn and Chicagoan are sort of similar to Brooklynites.

I have some practical questions about doing laundry on the ship.

We have only done 4-night cruises before, so this was never an issue.

Where are the machines located? Are there good times / bad times to do laundry? How late are the laundry rooms open?

We're only intending to pack for a week, and I'm hell bent about not over packing (he says, already planning on packing tails and a white dinner jacket).

So, any sudsy advice would be most appreciated.

It is danger as I could have cut my finger when I looked for phone book!! I will talk to kids tom morning or tom night about it!!:sad2:

I went laundry for ironing my clothes and see people sit down and watch the washing!! That was early morning.

I have to remember bring washing powder as my work have box of little bag of washing powder for this cruise.

So, today I discovered that my flight from oak to mco has dropped in price by $80.00 per ticket...OMG...so I call US Airways (or criminials as they have now been renamed by me) and it's a $100 per ticket change fee to get the lower fare. NOW, I read the contract and it states there is a $100 fee to change: flight, date or cancel....none of which I want to do, but they state that they have to "re-issue" the ticket and that is where the change come in. I did point out that my flight time has changed and they re-issued me a new tix then and didn't charge me $100 per tix. Oh, well...that was because we made the change. My next statemet...well you're making the change again, because YOU dropped the price, I didn't! So after an hour yelling at someone I am sure could care less..I just hung up! SO FRUSTRATING...that could have been my disneyland $$. SUX

On the other side..if anyone hasn't bought their tix...Oak to MCO overnight on the 7th...$99 per tix plus tax...not a bad price for one way!

I understand the frustration - but if you had not booked and wiated for the price to drop - and then it didn't --- well, just note that I did this once - NEVER - never again. Much better to have ticket in hand.....

I am so MAD!!! My nanny told my kids today that we are going on vacation in May and she thinks it is the Disney cruise!! It was a total language barrier situation. I had told her that we were taking the time off, and I also told her that it was a surprise for the kids and we hadn't told them. She must have misunderstood. I just called her at home livid after my sons told ME that we are going on the disney cruise. I completely denied it, told them our nanny was confused....I was so looking forward to surprising them at Easter. ARGGG:mad: My DH thinks they will still be surprised and happy, but I feel she took away my surprise. ARGG!
Lisa

Ah, sorry - it doesnot sound like it was intentional....Maybe you could cover with an Easter Bunny story about the Big Surprise....how about hiding plastic Easter eggs with all sorts of clues - and you could be the one really surprised????? Just a thought -not sure the ages of your kids. Poor Nanny - sounds like she just does not understand.

But hey, (not the same thing at all) but I have had adults spoil Surprise Parties and other surprises and LIVID just was not the word to use....They have no language barriers - they just "wanted to tell".

If I recall the machines are noted on the deck plans.

The only tip I have is to pack some of your favourite dryer sheets and/or laundry detergent. I am slightly allergic to some brands and the vending machines do not sell all types. That stated I do not know if there are any restrictions on brands or types due to the water processing plant on the ship....I'll wait for other responses....

"Scooter board", which is basically a mechanic's creeper, and she hit head on into another student also on a "Scooter board".

Retired Evil School Nurse chiming in here again.

We have scooters here as well. It's a pretty common injury along with fingers run over by the scooters. Do the PE teachers get the hint? NO!!!

Don't get me started on MAT BALL. :scared1:

I thought I could catch up before I leave to babysit, but no dice. See you all later tonight.:goodvibes

How early is early? I normally get up at about 4:30 every morning. Does anyone know how early is early and how late is late?

Good morning all,

I was born in 74! anyway, V PSA ------ rose petals live at least a month in the fridge. The day before V day I bought a bucket of rose petals....planning on that romantic dinner with scattered petals on the table leading to the bedroom...etc....they are still much alive and gorgeous on the second shelf of my fridge.

I used to own a company called The Rose Peddlers and we would put rose petals in cold water and they would not only refresh, but keep in the fridge longer. Try it.

Off to sleep. Can't keep my eyes open any longer. Wednesdays are awful with all the driving back and forth (to Tyler's school, to my work, back to his school, to OT appt, back to his school, back to my work, back to his school, to karate, then to his dad's). Tomorrow is the stupid psych appt (me, Tyler's dad & stepmom). I hate those weekly appts. Every single one has been about them talking about problems they have with Tyler and the psych asking me how I handle whatever their issue is (because I don't have any of the issues they do....I just do things differently) and the psych suggests they might try using some of my ideas. Good grief. Tomorrow I'm supposed to bring something to the table that I'm having trouble with Tyler about. Can't think of anything. About once a month he might need a time out but then he's back in line again. Nothing like the daily battles they have with him.

I'm not saying I'm a better parent, I just parent differently. Since I'm not having the issues they have, and he's not giving me the trouble he does them, it sounds like they need family counseling....leave me out of it! :sad2: It's awkward hearing about their issues because it usually leads into discussions about their relationship issues. AWKWARD!

I can't imagine how exhausting this is for him and his little CNS.

AAAARRRRGGGGG:mad:

aew, that's too bad! I had a fun thing happen a few weeks ago....a mom and dad came up to me at the Boardwalk and they were going on the cruise that day. They did the Land and Sea package, BUT THEIR 2 BOYS DIDN'T KNOW ABOUT THE CRUSE. THEY THOUGHT THEY WERE GOING HOME! I don't know how they kept it from them! Anyway, I walked over to them with maps of the ship and told them I worked for Disney cruise line, and I asked them if they would ever like to go on a cruise. Of course they said yes, and so I told them they were going that very day in about a half an hour! The older one was about 10 or 11 and the younger one about 8 or 9. They were amazing! They laughed and laughed, and we all had to have our pictures tken together, and they got to be the first family on the motocoach to the port!

That is sooooooo swwwweeeettttt:cutie: :cutie:

What a day!
Then this morning we get a phone call from the school. My DD(6) has been in an "accident" with another student and is bleeding, crying and her front (adult) tooth is loose. ..

OUCH!

Do your laundry on the 3rd or 4th day because the 7th day is a zoo and you can't get in until the 10th day. Do laundry on port days, although many others have figured this out too. We do laundry at 2am, it works well for us.

A friend gave me a passport and ticket holder with a string tht goes around your neck. And past gifts have provided passport covers....

.... many of us gave those away to the servers and I sold one on Ebay for $45. At the time we didn't realize how valuable they were and none of needed them as we had already bought passport holders before ever going on the Med TA. They were really nice too.

4.30am sounds early enough to me. You could earn your cruise spends by doing laundry for others every morning!!!

Good Morning Cruisers....!

Happy Thursday... (payday for me, but it is gone before I get it anyway!)
How many days now??

I am miraculously feeling better today...didn't want to rise and shine but I did...well the rising part anyway.
