WOO HOO...can't wait!:cool1:

wanna come? I know it is a school night, but we are going to eat dinner (corned beef and cabbage will be my fair) potluck for the rest of dinner/desserts early, around 5pm, so come over, it would be fun to suprise Molly with your visit.

Marr, ya in????

What a day! Starts off with me having to take some time off work today so I can be home in time for Shannon to go to her final exam tonight. Which is where she is at. She's taking courses to become a CGA (while working FT and being a wife and mother to two DD's). So no biggie. I get to leave work early.

Then this morning we get a phone call from the school. My DD(6) has been in an "accident" with another student and is bleeding, crying and her front (adult) tooth is loose. They call my wife at work to see if she can talk to my DD to see if she can calm her. No dice. So they ask her to come in.

Shannon goes to the school and the Teacher and Principal explain that she was in PE and playing on some sort of "Scooter board", which is basically a mechanic's creeper, and she hit head on into another student also on a "Scooter board". She plowed her face into the top of th eother child's head. The other child had an ice pak for a few minutes and was off and playing outside. The teacher and principal suggested Shannon take my DD to the doctor or dentist to get the tooth looked at (why did they want her to call then and try and calm my DD down if they felt she needed to see a doctor or a dentist??).

So off Shannon goes to the dentist to try and get in. Luckily it must have been a slow day an she gets in right away. The dentist looks at it and takes some xrays. Announces that nothing is broken (whew), just really bruised. The tooth has actually been knocked up in her gum a little bit (we couldn't tell by looking) and he suggests she doesn't eat solid foods for a few days and hopefully the gums will heal and tighten everything back up and she will be good to go as if nothing ever happened. Worse case scenario, if it doesn't tighten up he said they would have to do a root canal. Shannon and my daughter then went home and had ice cream for the rest of the day.

So needless to say I'm not really happy with the school right now. I'd like to know why they are using these "scooter boards" in a manner where 6 year olds (Grade 1's) are potentially running headfirst at each other? Does common sense not play a factor? I mean if it was out in the playground during recess I can understand it, but not in a supervised and supposedly "structured" class environment. And no it wasn't "freeplay", it apparently was a structured lesson of some sort.

Sorry, needed to vent a bit. I now return you to your regularly scheduled DISing ....

Nonsense about playing like that at school. Hope DD is ok

You do a stopover in Newark so you can pick me up.... ;)

sure I'd pick you up, but another airport idea please....

So... Your majesty... what would you do if I actually showed up?????

ask you what you wanted to drink and show you the couch that you'd be sleeping on after the party :lmao: :lmao:

or call me from the airport I'll send someone over to pick ya up :car:

Ok... I just booked a 4 nighter at POR in April... probably won't keep it, but I was supposed to go first week of March and I was going to do alot of things then because I'll only be in Fl for 4 days in May....

It's a solo trip...mom's going to be mad at me because she already doesn't think we have enough time to get ready for this trip and I have to do a week in Jersey for my other work April 21-25th...

I can't get excited until next week though... that's when I hear about the project... if it goes through then everything will be good... if not... I'm going to sit down and cry... with a box of thin mints in my hands... (can't waste good cookies...)

So everybody...keep praying...

(nan... got 2 boxes off the local girls... otherwise I would just have to have a sign on my butt saying "This body sponsored by the GS..." :rotfl2: )

glad ya got your fix....

We'll see. I'll email you later for more info..

Can we update the info in the front page about fish teams and anything esle that needs to be. Our leader seems to have disappered but we have a new member. Ssynder is going to help us out. :cool1: I am so happy as that is another mind we have now and pair or hands to deliver things.

Linda/Marr/PJ - Did you get this change? I was going to stop getting involved updating the fish teams if that is ok....teams can still PM to check to see if anyone has their idea for a gift though.

Thanks,
Lisa

I love Crunchies, though the chocolate covering is NOT as thick as it once was. Same goes for Turkish Delight, but yum!!

Turkish Delight...Is that what was in the Narnia movie? The witch gave it to the younger boy?

I didn't know it was a real candy!

We'll see. I'll email you later for more info..

steph, I'm on a field trip tomorrow with Molly, on a clipper ship out of jack london square , should be fun. I'll check email late in the afternoon.:goodvibes

nite nite :cloud9:

I think I have to agree with Jackie. I remember the Dis Meet on the 11 night. It was windy and a little spread out. I think it would be easier to spot everyone in the lounge and get things passed out. Then we definitely should gather on Deck 10 for the sailaway. Need to wave goodbye with my Mickey gloves. :woohoo:

Carol

Oh boy! Are we getting Mickey gloves???:cool1: :cool1: :cool1:
:mickeyjum :mickeyjum :mickeyjum

well I have mother's day pins but these are one pirate and one Malificent that say Mother...and that's it...also what is the gold mickey head on some?

I think the pirate one is one of a CM series that came out last May for the POC premier (it's one of 6 or 7 and it's the only one that says "Mother")http://www.pinpics.com/cgi-bin/pin.cgi?pin=51735&sid=3111.1205391041.v2 and the Malificent one is part of a CM villain series (again, the only one of the series that says "Mother")http://www.pinpics.com/cgi-bin/pin.cgi?pin=44559&sid=3097.1205390904.v2

Gold Mickey head--I don't know.

We have a similiar list except I'm leaving my Lipitor at home. I miss grapefruit!!! So I asked my doctor if I could stop taking it so I can eat grapefruit on the cruise and she agreed so I will stop taking it one week before we leave!!!

You can't eat citrus with Lipitor? What else don't I know? Did I not read my label closely enough?

Gosh, If Mike ends up at NYU, I guess you can give all the info on the places to go!

sounds like you know them all! Connie

NYU is a great school and it's in a great neighborhood. Unfortunately, I went to all those places 25 years ago......they won't be around anymore. They'll be something different now. So I really can't help Mike out with that, but I'd love to talk to him about the school and the neighborhood. That part should be the same.

No posts in 20 minutes? Am I the only night owl tonight? But not for long...
night night everyone!

Prayers and Pixie Dust coming your way that the project goes through!

:scared1: Wouldn't you think these would be provided, or at least made available? Wow!

They are supposed to be made available but sometimes they will run out and if you are in a group that does not get to a place you can get them/buy them enough them sometimes the soldiers would have to go without. Sorry but I would be so grossed out myself :scared: but my female soldier was used to being without from time to time. Especially the start of the war the soldiers were going without many things that they really should have had. Many basics had a hard time catching up with them.

Now a treat for my female soldier is some scented lotion in the little tiny bottles from Bath and Body Works and a bottle of nail polish. Another thing that points to the fact I would not cut it as a soldier! :rotfl:

So is this a child friendly kinda party then?

Ok other good new. If all goes well I graduate May 2 I have 2 more classes to pass so I had better study for my test tomarrow. Good night all.

Which team is it that needs updating? I see you are on two teams and do not want to mess up the wrong one. Let me know what day and who is still on and who is off and I will update it all. THANKS!

Well, after about a month without any TV at all, I couldn't stand it anymore! So I broke down and bought a $20 TV from Goodwill today on our way to karate class. It's tiny, only a 19-inch I think and we had 27-inch before, so it will take some getting used to, but a tiny TV that works is better than a bigger one that doesn't work! :thumbsup2 So now I won't have to wait until Friday to watch Survivor & Lost online, I'll be able to watch when they're actually on! :yay: I just might be sitting on the floor 2 feet away from the TV so I can SEE IT, but that's OK! :rotfl:

19" is better than nothing!

Holly waht's up with your tv? I didn't realize you didn't have one?

I didn't realise either. Is that why you and Tyler have been cleaning?;)

All the best in your test. Soon be over.

Off to sleep. Can't keep my eyes open any longer. Wednesdays are awful with all the driving back and forth (to Tyler's school, to my work, back to his school, to OT appt, back to his school, back to my work, back to his school, to karate, then to his dad's). Tomorrow is the stupid psych appt (me, Tyler's dad & stepmom). I hate those weekly appts. Every single one has been about them talking about problems they have with Tyler and the psych asking me how I handle whatever their issue is (because I don't have any of the issues they do....I just do things differently) and the psych suggests they might try using some of my ideas. Good grief. Tomorrow I'm supposed to bring something to the table that I'm having trouble with Tyler about. Can't think of anything. About once a month he might need a time out but then he's back in line again. Nothing like the daily battles they have with him.

I'm not saying I'm a better parent, I just parent differently. Since I'm not having the issues they have, and he's not giving me the trouble he does them, it sounds like they need family counseling....leave me out of it! :sad2: It's awkward hearing about their issues because it usually leads into discussions about their relationship issues. AWKWARD!

It must be annoying for you when you know Tyler doesn't have to behave as he does at his dads. Shows what a fab mom you are.

Marilyn, did ya make the deposit into my OBC account yet???? I'm going to make yours right now, check it out...:lmao: :lmao:

:lmao: :rotfl2: :lmao:

That list sounds like ours.....but more American names...
Ibuprofren, Imodium, triple antibiotic ointment, Benedryl cream, BandAids, Nyquil for colds, vitamins, plus all our Prescription meds, Many it's horrible to get old! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: But I will say thanks to my Vytorin, my cholesterol went from 280 to 166! Hurray! And my triglycerides and HDL's are all great now too!

Vytorin must be like our statins. John is on Statins but I have just to watch the cholesterol in my diet!:sad2: You also have a different way of measuring cholesterol levels as ours is high if it reached 6!!!

I agree with you about Cadbury's Creme eggs....yuck

But you don't have proper Cadbury's chocolate so I'm not surprised you don't like them!;)

We do have a bad day here and there, but his main issues always have been in school. That's what was so strange because it wasn't consistent, just at school. The things going on at school on a daily basis, I just didn't see at home. But I recently found out that he throws a fit every morning at his dad's, screaming and protesting getting ready, stalling, etc. They constantly have to get after him to get ready. But at my house, we get up, have breakfast, he gets ready while I'm in the shower, and we head out. Up at 7am, out the door at 8am. There are lots of similar situations that only occur at his dad's, primarily because they let him and his dad has admitted that he's very lenient with him and always gives in to Tyler. DUH! No wonder they have trouble with him. I'm a mean mom and don't take any crap, so we don't have many issues. Sure, he has off days just like any other kid, but not every day like at his dad's. Strange, huh? We're learning it's related to his sensory issues and how they deal with him, but I won't bore everybody with the details.

In fact, when I picked him up last Saturday, his stepmom told me, "He's been acting up all day, so hopefully he'll get straightened out while at your house" because she knows I'm stricter than his dad. ;)

Dad and stepmon seem to be after an 'easy' life with Tyler, but being 'soft' doesn't work in the long run.

OK, I feel better.

We(that is the royal we, me myself and I and Paul complained) that we are having our annual St Pat's McSkjerven Party dug up from the grave...

When Paul and I met, we had great St Pat's parties, until just after Wilson was born (the last one was when he was 2 weeks old) that following year our friends got married on St Pat's day. Today I talked with a few friends and they all agreed that we need to have it again, 7 year itch and all is over!!!....

Party at Nan & Paul's on Monday, come in your green!!!!

I'll be there!!!:lmao:

aew, that's too bad! I had a fun thing happen a few weeks ago....a mom and dad came up to me at the Boardwalk and they were going on the cruise that day. They did the Land and Sea package, BUT THEIR 2 BOYS DIDN'T KNOW ABOUT THE CRUSE. THEY THOUGHT THEY WERE GOING HOME! I don't know how they kept it from them! Anyway, I walked over to them with maps of the ship and told them I worked for Disney cruise line, and I asked them if they would ever like to go on a cruise. Of course they said yes, and so I told them they were going that very day in about a half an hour! The older one was about 10 or 11 and the younger one about 8 or 9. They were amazing! They laughed and laughed, and we all had to have our pictures tken together, and they got to be the first family on the motocoach to the port!

Cool.

What a day! Starts off with me having to take some time off work today so I can be home in time for Shannon to go to her final exam tonight. Which is where she is at. Your poor DD.

Holly, this is very normal as my ex was the same way. She was always having problems when she had my guys, and for me, as you will see, they are fairly well behaved young men. Now my 21yo is starting to try to exert his "I want to be independent" but that is normal for the 15yo skills he has. He can not read, but thinks he should have a car and a driver's license. Just hang in there and remember that you are helping Tyler by trying to help his dad stay consistant with your methods.

You sound a great dad.

original is another way of saying older...:lmao:

Yes, I'm original.:lmao:

Turkish Delight...Is that what was in the Narnia movie? The witch gave it to the younger boy?

I didn't know it was a real candy!

Traditional Turkish Delight is a soft jelly like candy(see i'm becoming assimilated into USspeak), very very sweet. It is covered in icing sugar. I imagine that is what was given by the witch. The Turkish Delight I love is covered in a thick chocolate and doesn't seem as swet. It is delidh!!!

You can't eat citrus with Lipitor? What else don't I know? Did I not read my label closely enough?

With our Statins you can't have grapefruit but other citrus are fine.

Woo Hoo!! :cool1:

Finished my fish extender tonight!

:cool2: I just start it

I am so MAD!!! My nanny told my kids today that we are going on vacation in May and she thinks it is the Disney cruise!! It was a total language barrier situation. I had told her that we were taking the time off, and I also told her that it was a surprise for the kids and we hadn't told them. She must have misunderstood. I just called her at home livid after my sons told ME that we are going on the disney cruise. I completely denied it, told them our nanny was confused....I was so looking forward to surprising them at Easter. ARGGG:mad: My DH thinks they will still be surprised and happy, but I feel she took away my surprise. ARGG!
Lisa

:sad2:

Oh, so THAT's what that plus sign is for! :lmao:

 I wish I could say the same. I did fish out all the supplies I bought and put them all together in one place. Perhaps I'll get a chance to work on it next week while on vacation...if I can convience big sister to help.

Goodnight kids!

.

Jackie, Iwas looking at Deb T website and saw your photo there of 2005 look great photo!!

oh no, hope your dd is okay.

I remember that had happened to my dd Olivia last year, she broke her front teeth (not baby teeth) I was so stressful as she had an accident with her friend. Both hold hand and run, both trippled over.:scared: Oh, I was so upset and she got fixed it by her densist with the laser. It look okay better than nothing.:sad1:

When that had happened I was told to phoned the doctor then densist. I think something to do with shock:scared1:

I hope you are okay too. Take care
