Michelle,

Our Dyson vacuum cleaner has no name. Not sure why. I have never quite warmed to the vacuum and it's lack of name probably reflects my ambivalence towards it.

I can't fault the Dyson. I am told by those in this house that actually use it, that it's wonderful, does a great job, easy to empty and extremely powerful.

(But Michelle, my personal thoughts, and this is quite, quite strictly entre nous, I think the vacuum cleaner sucks).

My purple upright Dyson Animal has no name. I have never named my vacuums.

But my yellow handheld Dyson is called Dougal. I have no idea why I named it, let alone why Dougal. :confused3

I explained to my DH very early in our marriage that household items are NOT gifts. And that if I ever received such a 'gift' it would result in a visit to A&E (the Emergency Room) for it to be removed from a certain part of his anatomy! :rolleyes1

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Hey there! I'm from Brighton Beach.

.

Nice area! I see you went to Chicago and I went to the Poconos. You stayed with the city life and I went rural......let's see, if we're around the same age, do you remember the Red Parrot.....it was my favorite dance club at the time....you may be younger than me, I'm not sure.

My DH John is also a Long Island boy born and raised, he did some time in NYC too for work......that was way back in our youth.....another lifetime ago.

I totally agree! For example 'gaol' - who thought that one up!

Sorry. Can't help giggling about an Australian picking that particular word to query, given the history between your country and ours! ;)

I take quite a few medicines as they are not something you can pick up easily, particularly this time in the middle of the ocean!!

I have a little 'medicines bag' with our prescription medicines plus various non-prescription items that may come in handy and save a trip to the medical centre.

Yes, the only changes that occur once we are on board is if you get kicked out of your room for flooding :lmao: or if you happen to get a magical upgrade at the port. Susie will keep track of those and the hall monitor would have those changes listed outside their door.

Also, when our room got changed (i.e. flooding)(not really) since no one was staying in that room because of a mechanical problem, we just put a sign on the door itself saying that "Seaulater and family have moved to stateroom #____. Please deliver all mail and fish gifts to the new stateroom."

Everything showed up okay. Plus I walked by the old room once a day to make sure there was nothing in my fish mail.

Thanks for explaining that Linda. I think I've got it now.

oh blimey, royal mail get worst nowaday. Two weeks ago my friend from usa send me a parcel for pins and small thing. I was waiting for it then I got a letter from Royal Mail to charged me for nearly 22 pounds. I have no idea why. I phoned up with the typetalk, they put phoned down, I get annoyed then I phoned up again to different department. I had to explained them about the parcel why they charged me. They won't tell me then they told me have to phone different department, I told them no because I already did it and they hung up. So they spoked to supervisior and told me that the charge had been dropped out:confused3 I contact my friend from usa, explained to her and asked her if she did weight it before send it to me. She told me that she did the weight and insurance too. Then I received it and it was nothing wrong with it as the parcel was light too:confused3 I was telling my friend and she said oh flaming royal mail mmm

Deborah, you could have been charged for VAT and customs duty and administrative charges, done on the value of the goods.

Maybe. But they are the ORIGINAL - like the Smarties. :lmao:

:lmao: :lmao:

I have our prescription meds, some supplements(I'm old remember), Bonine, paracetamol, migralieve for John, Imodium, a couple of different indigestion meds, zinc lozenges for colds etc, cough sweets, throat sweets, plasters, antiseptic wipes and cream, and I am sure some others!!:lmao:

And another thing. Maltesers aren't completely round like they used to be - you get some odd shapes now, so I guess they don't check them these days.

Did you come to any conclusions?

Yes. There's no way of really knowing what time we will be able to leave the port! :lmao:

Sorry! :guilty:

Our flight isn't until 1800ish so it doesn't matter to us what time we get away from the port as long as we make it to LAX by 1500 to check-in.

The cream filling in Cadbury's Creme Eggs just isn't the same these days either!:sad2:

Yes, part of it will be the £8.00 Royal Mail extortion fee - sorry, admin charge.

Yes. But that reminds me, I haven't checked it for a couple of weeks. Must do, in case Virgin have been playing about again.

That would be a good job. Malteser quality control! :)
