Hi all,

Glad to see your group so active and having fun (except for that hassle over excursions, etc.).

I'm an Eastbounder and we were wondering if any of you had looked into renting a tux for the trip? Specifically, is the rate the same as a 7 day or is it more due to the length of the trip?

Thanks,

Tom

The packet we were sent has the tux form with the same prices as the 7-day. Classic black tux package is $95.

I guess I'll keep asking the question ... Anyone from the Chicago area on this cruise?

Not here. Oregon, far from Chicago. BUT we do have DIS friends in Chicago that are not going on this cruise.

I am not sure about the tux....someone from the last repo said they charged for the one week price. I will be renting one for DH so will keep you posted.

We haven't booked anything for PV. There is a city tour of about 4 4.5hrs.

Would have liked to just wander, but PV is about 3 miles from cruise terminal.

Should we just taxi on down to town or do the excursion? Anyone on that one?

We signed up for the Historic towns tour.

good morning...well, my car seems worse. I could not go over 35....took me a long time to get across town!
I guess I am going to have to bite the bullet and trade it in.

Ouch have you blown the motor entirely or just a gasket on it? Either is never fun but depending on the cars value sometimes $1000 in work is better then $30000 of new car debt. However I get bored with things easily and new cars, even not if brand new just new to me are fun. Good luck with whatever you choose.

HONDA yes, ours has 145,000 miles on and so far (knock on wood) just oil changes!!!! Whoohoo.

Our first lasted just as long. WE only sold it in because we were moving cross country and didn't want to drive two cars.

Many years ago I had a Civic and sold it when it hit 176,000 miles. The guy who bought it drove it for another three years before he sold it. I have no idea how many miles it had then but I know they do keep going and going. One of my cars I have now is a Honda and I have about 90,000 miles and no problems.

Ok everybody...

I'm off to catch a flight to Houston....

So....

for the next 24 hours or so....

BE VEWY VEWY QWIET!!!!

it's looks like the room is on the outside? is it one of those secret porthole rooms....someone please help me out!?!?!?

Yes, it is one of the secret porthole rooms. But you poor thing...you're right next door to us. :lmao: We'll try to be quiet, but I've got two boys, ages 10 and 7. Maybe the lifeboat was looking better. :rotfl:

Edited to add: Sorry, didn't mention my stateroom number. It's 5524. I think we connect to you.

You know what that means......... party:

Well, the new internet access policy at worked started today.
I can already see it is going to be very annoying!

Earlier this morning I was able to access my reservation on the DCL website. But now it lets me get to the home page but when I click on anything else it blocks access on the grounds that it is an "entertainment" site. It wouldn't even let me have 'quota' time.

How much longer it will let me access the DIS remains to be seen.
At the moment I can still get on, but not only can I not see photos (which has always been the case) I now can't see smilies or people's signatures.

Don't they realise this is my only way of keeping relatively sane at work? ;)

Well you could always try and argue the fact that the disboards are so much more than just Disney. Afterall there are multiple forums with multiple viewpoints and feedback, that I don't think there are any topics that aren't covered on this board!! LOL So it could be a useful tool for your workplace.

A little different here Ken for a few reasons . . .

  • No one prepares for that kind of cold here- while it does go below Zero F, mid-teens to twenties is the norm
  • We just cancelled bussing for kids that live within two miles of school because of our levy failures. Lots of kids that once caught the bus now walk, and parents are mad enough.
  • You have thicker blood up there in BC

To be quite honest, I believe even here in BC, if those temps hit Vancouver (home of the 2010 Olympics  ), they would close down as well. It's quite amazing to many people who visit BC (which is more than Vancouver), how different the climates are within our own Province. But up here in Northern BC (well it's labelled northern BC, even tho we are only smack dab in the middle of the Province), we handle weather a little differently.

And of course, it is snowing yet again here. Really coming down too. Just sent the kids off to school and daycare and when the sun comes and it gets a little brighter I'll take a pic of the snow for everyone to enjoy .... :lmao:

Is it spring yet????

Goodmorning all,
Well, its nice to have the princess party behind us, the online meyhem, now I have a house full of company and 2 more kinder testing dates this week. Boy will I be happy when this is all over.

Linda, sorry to hear about your purse - talk about adding something extra into your busy schedule.

You know you are old when:

You get bored waiting for you birth year to scroll down on the DCL web site!
.

:lmao: I just said this yesterday, I'm having to scroll down awfully far to get to my year. :lmao:

We are doing the city tour this time. Last time we went to PV it wasn't accessible at all to walk around.

I guess I'll keep asking the question ... Anyone from the Chicago area on this cruise?

NO where near Chicago, but I do have a friend who works for an advertising company in Chicago (but unfortunately she's not going on the cruise). And I have driven through Chicago once and it is on my list of "places I must visit again in more detail"!

did everyone do the online check in as well?

Is this recommended? On our last cruise (and our only cruise I might add), we just went to the Port and checked in and everything was quite simple. Also, when is it recommended to "check in" online? The day of, the day before? Any info would be appreciated.

I also changed our cabo stuff to 8:30am, yes I'll wake up. I realized that we can sleep in for ~10 days on the ship, so the port days we have to buck up and wake up early.

Paul and I just talked about Wilson needing to get to bed at a reasonable time to make it fun for us as a family, and yes he said he'd put him to bed and I can go out and PLAY with my girl friends  :woohoo:  This is gonna be such a great trip :woohoo: :3dglasses that's me wearing my sunglasses at night, so I can so I can....here come the 80s

Nan - this is the Harbor Cruise & Scenic Drive one right?? If it is - YEAH!

I copied this from another post.

All you do is call Verizon and tell them you want to activate international roaming on your plan (no fee for this) and then once you are done talking to them ...on your cell phone... diale *228 and press send...listen to the prompts and press 2, It will update your phone and your set!

Does anyone know the cost though? How does it work for phone vs. data?

V, I feel really bad for you. I wish we were part of the no car payment group, but Amy can never handle dealing with a car that has a problem. So we always lease, and have a newer car, but always have the darn payments. My company car was just traded in though - a Ford Taurus that was 9 years old with 105,000 miles, that just had it's first major problem - valve springs that lost me three cylinders. I now have a new Taurus for my Co. Car, and really like it, but it is a bit stodgy. I really like the new Sync, cell phone and iPod integration.

Ken, it really does not take too long at the port, but it is easy to do online, and then one less step to worry about when you get there. You can do it now that we are within 90 days and PIF, and it is on my list of things to do. In fact I may go there and do it now. Only problem is Amy took her passport, so I will have to wait on her.
