Matching shirts...cute or dumb?

we have a blended family, and only spend half of the time all together. These trips are during the only 1 continous week that my step children live with us. the rest is split.
Our week in disney has really become a way to work on 'our' family. To strengthen our bonds without distraction. Its amazing how much closer we feel. I could definitely see us doing the shirt thing, with the exception of 15 yo ds, who on our next trip will be 16. if he decides to come along, im sure he'll balk at the matching shirt thing. I think its cool. I saw some lime green shirts just last week!

Since we wear matching t-shirts at WDW ... I'll say it is cute. ;) However, we would never do it anywhere but at WDW (& DLR). :upsidedow

Jennifer, love the pics! Your family is too cute!

On our last trip we wanted to be a little wacky, so we all wore matching socks! It was insane! People were like, "look at that crazy family wearing white socks!" >sigh< Good times.

Seriously, it's your vacation; wear what you want. Who cares what other people think. Disney is not Rodeo Drive; it's expected that people will be having fun and dressed like tourists. Besides, we need people to point and laugh at.

I don't wear any kind of printed t-shirts as it is so I'd never agree to wear ones that match my family. Fortunately, I married a woman with similar feelings on this subject so it has never been an issue. When our kids were younger we did dress them in similar outfits to better keep track of them in crowds but now that they're older they would hate this idea as well.

If they are matching polos with the mouse ears logo and a name written small under that logo or something similar = ok

otherwise = not ok

:offtopic:I'm mesmerized by your signature and I agree about neon green 110 %
lol I get that a lot. I've actually have people PM me asking about it, lol!!! (It's Lada Gag's "breakdance" on American Idol. Very funny.

I'm glad I am not the only one who hates the color. For a second I thought I was crazy, lol.

I always dress my five kids in matching shirts. It makes the packing so much easier. It's nice for pictures, but it works wonders keeping an eye on them in a crowd.

I do the entire family in matching shirts once or twice the vacation. My husband is okay with it. I don't think I could get my dad to do it again though. We were boarding a ferry when the captain announced "look at the big group of orange tourists". (we were wearing my prized homemade Halloween shirts). My dad was very embarrassed. Don't know why it bothered him so much, but he has repeated again and again that he will never wear matching shirts again. :confused3

Our group of 11 is wearing coordinating shirts one day and matching shirts another. We're all wearing patriotic (most patriotic/Disney) shirts on the 4th of July. Then, we're wearing Thing 1 - 9 shirts on one of our Universal days. (Grandma and Grandpa are skipping the Universal half of the trip, so only 9, not 11 that day). It might be cheesy, but it's our first vacation with such a large extended family that we thought, "Why not?"

Ok, my wife has made our family of four matching shirts for each of our past three trips and I will say, I was not keen on it at first. However, I like it and I feel this way...my kids will only be kids once, who cares what people think, I am there to have a good time with "my" family and it makes for some good pictures. Plus, it gets you noticed by the cast members. I cannot tell you the number of magic moments my kids experienced during YOMD and also this past May during our trip (I thought YOMD was over, but they told me they are still doing Magical Moments). This year she handmade and embroidered 8 different sets of four shirts. Maybe some of you were there and saw them.

1. Traditional Mickey Ears on red shirts for me and son, and Minnie with bow on the girls.
2. Mickey Ear globe for AK.
3. Disco Mickey Ears for dance party at DHS.
4. Mickey topiary for Epcot Flower and Garden Festival.
5. "When you Wish" with a star for First Day of trip.
6. Mickey Ear Chocolate Bar with dripping ice cream.
7. Dr. Doofensmirtz from Phenias and Ferb holding a Fast Pass and thinking in his tone "The Line Eliminator-inator"
8. Celebrate with Mickey shaped balloons.

So, from a male perspective, I am ok with it. Many of my friends tease me, but I don't care. My kids love it.

:thumbsup2

I am a Disney Dad too!!!!! I totally agree with you on the memories. Some of our best pictures from our trips are our matching shirts. I usually order at least one set of shirts for everyone on Zazzle. We also have bought matching MVMCP and MNSSHP shirts in the parks. I think they are a great idea!!!!!

Planning our shirts for each day and shopping for them added to the fun and made the waiting bearable...
