Matching shirts...cute or dumb?

Another vote for cute.

im so late but i find this concept to be a bit on the corny side

I have never done the matching shirts, but last April when my husband and I went with my parents we all wore themed shirts. That was a lot of fun. I was really surprised my dad did it being the strong silent type he is.

Day 1 - Animal Kingdom - Lion King shirts : Mom - Timon, Dad - Pumba, Husband - Rafiki, Me - Zazu

Day 2 - Magic Kingdom (Pooh Breakfast) - Pooh shirts : Mom - Rabbit, Dad - Pooh, Husband - Tigger, Me - Piglet

Day 3 - Epcot - The Kids from Epcot Pins ( I had to scan my personal pins to get these pictures) : Mom - China, Dad - Paris, Husband - Peru, Me - Africa

Day 4 - DHS - Just hubby and I : Husband - Chip, Me - Dale (both from Rescue Rangers) - We got the best reception from CM with these. Everyone loved them. When we wear them to the parks now we still get a lot of smiles, and "That was a great show. Those shirts ROCK!'

We wore matching shirts last Christmas for the first time when we all went to WDW and then wore them again this summer. I wasn't sure if everyone would like it, but we found that it definitely has its benefits. It was easy to spot each other when we split up, it's easier to stay together in line (others don't try to cut in front of part of you), and the CM's also know to keep you together. It also looks great in pictures. The one downside is if and when someone in your group gets a little cranky. You can't pretend like you don't know them.

I have never worn matching shirts in Disney but it is just my DH and myself. Maybe when we have children I will have to put us in matching shirts. My DH would not wear a matching shirt with just him and myself but I probably could get him to wear a coordinating shirt. So maybe for our trip in September I will have to get us some matching or coordinating shirts with Cruella De Vil on it because we have the same last name but only spelled different.

I think it's cute! Our last trip I made one set of shirts for us all to wear.

This trip I may make a few more but with smaller, more subtle designs.

This reminds me that one of our most magical moments happened in part because we had on matching shirts!

We were getting in the cars at the Indy Speedway, my husband and son in one car, and my twins and I in the car behind them. One of my girls refused to get in, when she saw her sister was going to get to steer.

A CM saw what was happening, and put a special towel on our windshield and said that she would let us go around again so the other sister could drive.

When we got to the loading area, I was a bit fearful of what would happen, as my son is on the Autism Spectrum, and he would have a horrible meltdown if he saw his sisters and I get another turn.

The CM noticed their shirts, asked if they were with us, and let them go around a second time as well.

Pure magic. The Indy Speedway is my son's FAVORITE attraction.

I think it is both. It is a little bit too cutesy for me but it is disney where you can be cute the heck and still be ok so go for it. I would match my girls, or maybe the three kids in a general theme, or even me and the kids wear disney shirts but we won't be matched to them.

I am in the process of picking out designs for our planned trip April 2010. So we will be one of those families :cool1:

Just need to make a decision either to totally matched with same color and design or a theme, all in the same color but each having a different character (example DS mickey, DD minnie, DH Donald, me Daisy)

Those DISigners are the greatest!! :worship:

We have not done the matching shirts yet (we also don't have kids yet either) but we are doing it in August for our girls trip with mom and my sister. I think it is cute if you want to do it. Who cares what anyone else thinks of it?
Enjoy!

Before, I've always been a bit skeptical of the matching shirts; I had to do the matching thing with my sister as a child, and judging by the pictures, it did not often end well. However, this last trip my sister and I (out a group of six) decided to make matching shirts for the two of us based on one of our inside sister jokes. The caveat was it had to do be on a shirt that we would be willing to wear around with no design on it. We ended up with a disign on the back and the Pizza Planet logo on the front (on our DHS day, so 3x the Toy Story!) Here are our results:

We ended up with some great photos in the line waiting to meet Buzz and Woody - we figured we already matched, so we may as well ham it up for the camera!

Hi there! Just want to start out by saying these are pics of DH, DM, DD, DS & myself last summer. DH was NOT thrilled about wearing the shirts, but after the 1st day he loved it. The reason being: we got SOOOoooo much extra attention from CM's while wearing the matching shirts. DH is a total athlete & a man's man. He's looking fwd to matching again in Sept (but won't dare do it anywhere but WDW!)
Here's our AK shirts:

I wouldn't personally wear matching shirts, and my DH would NEVER do it, but I love seeing other people's, so I vote 'cute...but not for me'. However, I have made my 2 girls t-shirts with their names on the back in Disney writing and a small tinkerbell / mickey head embroidered on the front. All my friends and family said I was crazy to put the girls in a shirt with their name on because someone might try and take them! It got me a bit worried, but then I see lots of you have done that - and anyway those mickeys ears you can buy have your name on the back right?

I'll add that the staff loved our matching shirts that were made from Dis member designs! We had so many great comments about our shirts. One day dh didn't wear his matching shirt and many guests commented to him about why he didn't have one on! That will teach him!

We did them on our last trip but getting DH to do it will be a joke! I was wondering how many of you like to match and do you have pics?

This debate is raging even now amongst our clan. We're eleven, and the vote is split almost half and half between folks who wanna do this and folks who are adamantly "aggin' it".

I'm sort of on my own in the debate. I have no problem with all wearing the same stuff but I absolutely loathe brands, names, or writing on anything I wear. (I haven't let anything larger than a polo crest on me in almost twenty years.)

Let me preface this with saying, my mother scarred me for life by making us wear tie dyw pink hats with cat beads dangling down the front. She still laughs at us to this day for thinking they were cool.

That said, I like some of the more "toned down" matching shirts... like the AK ones with just the circle in the middle. I find those more tasteful.

I can't ever get my group to match, so I guess it's a moot point.

labdogs42: I especially like the colors you chose for your Mickey Head tie dye t-shirts! Very nice! I am going to make some of these for my family's next trip in Dec and will definitely remember the green/blue combo. I'm enjoying seeing everyone's pics! Please keep them coming!

I like to look at others matching shirts but wasn't so sure when it came to me and my Mom ( ewww, dress like my mother? No thanks!) But after we did Race for the Taste 10k we wore our race shirts and the pictures really did come out cute!
