Matching shirts...cute or dumb?

In every day life, I would say that I'm not for matchy matchy outfits but for Disney, it is definitely an exception:

The husbands definitely were not keen on these shirts but the wives and kids loved them. The wives got together to make these shirts and one of the ladies was soooo proud to say "yes, I did make this..." whenever someone asked about our shirts. We received a TON of compliments on these shirts. They were easy to make and (thankfully) don't require any sewing. I got directions from here http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1210609. And, it was really easy to spot people from our group that day.

My DH and I have not worn matching shirts, but I do have my DS6 and DS9 wear them. It is super easy to find them in the matching shirts, especially tie-dyes.

I have to agree with the other poster, my DH might do it but "what happens in Disney stays in Disney." :)

Since you asked, I think it's dumb. I didn't enjoy being dressed like my sister (and neither did she) when we were younger. I vowed never to do it to my kids. We're a family that will change clothes if we end up in similar colors. :)

When DH and I took our DDs to Disney in October, I made shirts for almost every day, and he wore them saying that he was doing it for the kids. However, DH and I returned in January by ourselves, and he ASKED me to make us shirts that time. We got so many compliments from CM, and I think it's a fun way for the family to show togetherness.

His favorite shirt was one with Mater on it that said, "She loves me for my body." ;)

JMO but I think it's very cute & fun to wear matching shirts at Disney. I wouldn't do this anywhere else but at Disney.

The pictures come out great when everyone is matched & it helps locating my 3 kids when the park is crowded.

I love everyone's pictures!!!

I got the whol fmaily to wear matching shirts for embarkation day for our Disney cruise in 2004 and DD and DS wore cooridinating shirts one day in 2005. Now DD16 and DS12 are too cool to do it. Dh would probably do it is I asked.

Here are the kids in 2005:

Cute for children under 10. Ridiculous otherwise.

Ridiculous...yes...but it's Disney! If you really think about it, it's all pretty silly...obsessing up to a year in advance about where we're going to eat lunch while on vacation, laminated spreadsheets, having our pictures taken hundreds of times with stuffed characters, adorning ourselves with glow bands at night, crying over fireworks, hundreds of hours spent on the DIS ...but it's Disney. :cloud9:

Couldn't have said it better myself!!!!

You Rock!

We don't do them...DH would revolt. I have a hard enough time getting him to go to WDW...I pick my battles

For Disney, matching shirts is a great idea! I sew my family all Disney themed outfits, including my DH. We don't match, but we are a bit silly, but that is part of the magic! Go for it!

We did them for two of our five days on our first trip.

I think the pictures turned out cute!

We can't do them every day, because my girls need days to dress up as princesses! princess:princess:

I always give our vacation a name--this year was "The Great Disney Escape". My brother surprised us on Easter and gave us all t-shirts with the Disney characters that says "The Great Disney Escape 2009". I thought it was great. We will be there next week.:banana::banana:

I'm debating on doing them for our all girl trip in December. It will be me, my mom, my sister and my DD. Thinking about doing matching hoodies too since the weather could go either way.

Here are some of our pictures. We like it because it is easier to keep our group together.

OH MY Would love to see the t-shirt that is hilarious my husband REFUSES to have family t-shirts - it takes me to move the earth to get him to coordinate for familiy pictures as it is:rotfl:

We were at the disney store a couple of weeks ago and I bought the kids and I kind of matching shirts. The boys & I have mickey shirts with little mickies all over and my DD has a tink one. My husband informed me that he would not be buying one. I told him that he was going to be the outcast at WDW and no one would know he was with us. I think maybe that was the idea;)!
