Matching shirts...cute or dumb?

Cute yes. Rediculous yes. Would we go any other way? No. Matching shirts have been our tradition since 1975. Different shirt, every day. Often made from pics of disney signs that amused us the last trip. The orange shirts have the Jungle Trekkers sign on them from AK.

We have the Ye-Tea sign from when Yak and Yeti was being built, Words to Pirates life, Grim Grinning Ghosts, etc. Fun to make and plan!!!

It is down right spooky that I found this thread this afternoon.:scared1: After my DH came home from work today he said to me.."Honey we need to go shopping tomorrow for some matching shirts to weat while we are at Disney!"

Did I marry and angel or what???:cloud9:

I don't think anything is "dumb" at Disney! Check out the ears (and fanny packs, for that matter)! If your DH will play along, go for it! Pics look great! :goodvibes

Isn't it ironic, that the folks who stated it's ridiculous and dumb to wear matching clothes, are in fact the ones who are being dumb and ridiculous?

I love matching shirts!! My DH would never do it, but i am hoping once we have kids that he'll change his mind!!

Everyone's pics have been cute - keep 'em coming!! :goodvibes

How cute is that! I really think it is very sweet and manly for the guys who do that for their wives and kids!

We haven't done it, but maybe someday I'll get motivated to do it at least once. Dumb? No way!

I love Disney but I don't want to wear matching shirts.
I might make sure that our family color coordinates for pictures as best I can, but DH and I are both pretty well on the same page on this one. No Shirts.
DD is now 11 going on 17 and would revolt like crazy. Not a battle I choose to fight. There are soooooo many others to try to win.
DS probably wouldn't mind yet, give him another year or two.

Those of you who have do matching shirts, where do you get them printed from? I know a lot of people print them and iron tehm on themselves, but I don't want to go that route. Has anyone ever had anyone else (professional) print them for you? Who did you use?

That seems close to a personal attack, IMO. People have differing opinions, and that is what was asked by the title of the thread. If someone doesn't agree with a particular POV, it doesn't elevate anybody else above them to go back around and try to insult them. The identical outfit thing will never be EVERYONE's cup of tea, and they shouldn't be insulted for it because they don't agree.

I personally would never so super matchy outfits to WDW or anywhere else. However, my friends and I have worn similar color schemes (red and white shirts with jeans, pink shirts and khaki, etc.) but not the exact same things.

My family does this 1 day out of our trip. We all like doing it. We'd NEVER do it anywhere else, though.

I took my girl scout troop last June and we had matching shirts for every day of our trip. It really gave us leaders a comfort level knowing that if someone got separated, we could quickly say "she's x tall, x hair color, and wearing a shirt like this". We didn't need to worry as no one got separated, but it was a safety feature to us.

On another note, the ones you print yourself.....what types of iron-ons are you using? I've been getting the Wilton ones from Michael's and they do not hold up well. They tend to crackle after the first wash and go downhill from there.

I love your matching shirts! Great job on the Mickey Swirl shirts-too cute! We did matching shirts on a few days last year and loved it so much. I wish I had more sets. The homemade ones got a lot of attention. I guess I'll be busy over the next 3 months before our Sept. trip!:goodvibes

ARE THESE TWIRLY SHIRTS the ones using TAPE and then spray paint??????????
What type tape and what type paint exactly????????
TIA!

I made matching t-shirts for our trip in Aug. DH normally does not like this, but at Disney he said OK. So this winter I worked on about 3 or 4 different sets. Bought the t-shirts from Michael's and made tye dye to spray painting designes on. They were great! Our first 90 degree weather I put one on and died! :headache: They held the heat from the sun and I was so wet from sweat it was gross. I sat down and cried because I knew we could not wear them and be happy in Aug at Disney. So now I have bought tank tops for everyone (with wicking) and that will be it! Thinking of taking one of the shirts for my ds (8) to make a Jedi Training shirt. Already made him one, but it was off center and was made out of the Michael shirts.

I think matching shirts are cute on some people but our family doesn't like to do that. The closest thing that we would do for matching shirts would be each of us wearing a different shirt with Mickey on it on the same day. But hey if that is what you like go for it.

Add us to the list of dorks!

I only matched the whole family one day (it's all DH would go for). I matched the boys every day, though. Here they are at Chef Mickey's:

You're shirts are so great. Would you possibly have the photos posted somewhere online? Sharon

I enjoyed seeing all the creativity last week at the World. I even thought it was cute when one family was all in plain bright orange; it just makes sense to keep everyone together in such a crowded place.

I say CUTE!!!!!:goodvibes It also helps when the group gets split you never forget what color they have on!!!

As pp said, we have suitcase full of Disney apparel we wear just at the World but it's not matching. It is fun to wear the Mickeys and Goofys and Grumpys and DH enjoys it just as much as the rest of us. But when we get home, it goes back into the WDW suitcase until the next trip. (He does have a subtle Mickey tie he wears occasionally:rolleyes1) I might get him to do matching shirts one day but I think I'll wait until we have little ones with us. As others have said, it makes great sense for keeping track of others. I used to run a day camp and we always wore matching shirts on field trip day!

Since we wear matching t-shirts at WDW ... I'll say it is cute. ;) However, we would never do it anywhere but at WDW (& DLR). :upsidedow

Wow, maybe that is bordering on a personal attack, ya think? I hope you will go and reprimand the two posters who called us ridiculous and dumb in the first place.
