Massachusetts folks post here!!!

I went to school in Webster for a while. My parents have lived in Dudley for over 40 years. Also, I used to roller skate with a guy from Douglas-I think he still lives there, but he doesn't roller skate any more.

And although I call it the Centrum, I thought my parents recently told me that it goes by a different name now, maybe because of some new sponsorship.

Hi Simba's Mom - When did you go to school in Webster?

It's called the DCU Center now. For a time before that it was called the Centrum Centre, which just sounded weird...

Ahh - that's right! It's now the DCU Center - thanks for the name! I still call that other place Great Woods too and that has probably had 6 different names since then and I can't remember the current one for the life of me!!!!

I have fond memories of Webster. My grandmother and uncle lived on Hillside Ave for a number of years. My uncle was a sportswriter for the T&G out of the Webster office and covered local Webster sports teams for Bartlett and Nichols and he also umpired Am. Legion ball in town.

As a kid, Webster had the only Dunkin Donuts around and we loved going to visit my grandmother so we could stop and get some. Also, for many years Webster had the only KFC around.

Some of my mis-spent youth was in Webster downing scorpion bowls at Wind Tiki, drinking at Waterfront Mary's, and lightening my wallet at the Fuzzy Grape!:confused3

DW grew up over the line in Thompson,CT and went to Webster weekly as a kid.

DW's sister and brother in law also lived in Webster and also on Hillside Ave!

4th of July fireworks at Memorial Beach could be seen from their house and were always worth the visit. And we would go ice fishing with them on occasion at Webster Lake (or for the long version - Lake Chargoggagoggmanchaoggagoggchaubunguhgamaugg! )

Been to many a wedding at Point Breeze and Indian Ranch. And always travel through Webster en route to the Douglas water slides.

I've been kinda embarrassed to respond to my fellow "Websterites" because I'm sure I'm so much older than y'all. Donald is #1, I graduated from college in 1973 (first class of females from WPI for the many other Techies on this board). When did I go to school in Webster? Let's just say it was when JFK was President.

My nephew lives in Woodstock, CT and since one of his friends moved to Webster, he loves to come to Webster to ride his bike around. I was very surprised when my sister mentioned that he was taking him to Webster so that he can ride his bike.

Aww the fireworks! I haven't been to them in years. When I was a kid and through my high school years, I think, they were held at the athletic field just a few blocks from my house. When I was in college and for the first few years after college, my friends and I used to travel down to the lake just to watch the fireworks.

:worship: :worship: Thank you for paving the path for the rest of us! By the time that I got to WPI in 1982, the ratio of men to women was 5:1. I was surprised about 5-10 years ago to find out that the ratio was still about the same.

Oh - the Fuzzy Grape - the reputation that place had!! I remember when my DH went to Parris Island and mentioned Webster, people knew the town for that purple place!

KFC has been gone for a bit but a new one is coming in combination with a Taco Bell that seats 80 people - how times change!

And when did your wife graduate? I was Class of '89 from Marianapolis and have a few friends now that went to Tourtlelotte.

Donald is #1, I still remember when the fireworks were at the Athletic Field too!

Thanks to all for sharing their memories!

I must have missed the history portion of the original post. But we live 20 miles from Provincetown, ( ya know, where the Pilgrims originally landed), and real close to First Encounter Beach where the Pilgrims first encountered native Americans:)

One of my favorite places on earth...between Eastham and WDW....those are my 'happy places'. I grew up, watching the target ship disintegrate. My family had property further down, on Strawberry Lane (or something like that), and I spend a lot of summers renting a house on Quason Rd. I actually lived right off Rt 6, on Minister's Pond for about 6 months before moving back to the 'mainland' when dh got work.

Simba's Mom, champagne 27, TSMIII,
For those of you familiar with Webster, I grew up on Granite St. With parents' health issues in the past couple of years, I have been in town much more often and currently I am going down one day each weekend. After not spending as much time in town over the past 20 years (just there every few months to visit the parents), it is nice to spend some time now in the old home town.

WAHOO MASSACHUSETTS! Was at SSR 10/10-10/14 and met quite a few Bay Staters. GO RED SOX!!! :yay: :yay:

Hi everyone!!
