Mass shooting at Fort Hood- Killeen

I'm glad the shooter is alive.... murderous traitor that he is. Let's see exactly WHAT his motivation was.

I like how the media is playing up the whole "he was harassed" nonsense. It's just a springboard for the "insanity" defense.

Plus, I'd like to hear from the men or women who he's accusing of this so-called harassment. Bet they have a different version, especially since there were complaints about the shooter for pushing his muslim beliefs on people.

And I'm glad he's still alive. He declared jihad on US soil, and should be treated and punished as a terrorist.

Funny how they tried that with the VA tech killer and noone cared and rightly so.

When you do something so heinous, you lose your privilege of sympathy.

no one forced this guy to join the service. He was certainly more than happy to take a small fortune from the us government to fund his medical school education. But when the government expected him to carry out his end of the deal, he wasn't so interested in serving "his" country any longer. So he'll bleed the government dry to pay for med school, and then say, "so long, suckers...."?

Reports are saying he was disturbed because he was being sent to iraq and "might have to hurt other muslims." well, cry me a river. How many christian us service men and women have had to fight and even kill, other christians in the line of duty? Being in the military isn't play checkers......wars happen. And it's safe to say, that at least since our troubles with iran in the 70s, conflict with some muslim nation was not out of the question. He knew that when he signed up.

I don't buy the "he was bullied" line of defense his relatives are already trying to sell. Their pathetic attempts to portray him as a victim are an insult to those he murdered. Perhaps he was the target of a few rude remarks, but he's a senior officer and a psychiatrist at that. If he was truly being harassed that much, i think he'd have done something about it short of mass murder. Nope, this guy had an agenda. A sick, twisted agenda. Red flags were all over the place.

I'm not saying all muslims are dangerous, so don't jump to that conclusion. But this one was. Between his internet postings and remarks he made to others, people should have been getting chill bumps at the thought of him anywhere near a military base.

If i hear, "he was upset at being sent to iraq" one more time, i'll scream. Who is jumping up and down with joy at being sent to iraq? I'd hazard a guess that a huge percentage of those being deployed to iraq are upset, sad, scared, filled with dread, worried, etc. But god bless them, they do their duty and don't go around shooting their fellow soldiers. They do what they have to do. They deserved far better than they got from this coward.

amen.

Don't care what religion, gender or race. He's a murdering coward who couldn't live up to his obligations. I hope they bring him to full health and then lock him in a cage with other animals.

The VA Tech Killer Seung-Hui Cho who wrote Ismail in red ink on his arm before killing 32 people. Ismail, the Islamic prophet.......

Hadn't heard about that particualr facet of the case.

Also, whatever Hasan's motive in this case, his actions are neither reflective of or supported by Islam. Trying to goad people into taking their anger out on the religion does no good. IF this act of terrorism was religion-based (and it does have the ear marks of being so), it is no more representative of the tenants of Islam than flying a plane packed with innocents into a Manhattan hi-rise.

Hasan could claim he did this to impress Jodi Foster...should we string up Jodi Foster?

The man is a coward...an animal...a sick perversion of the religion he claims. I hope he pulls through so we can get answers, and then I would like to see him publicly stoned, preferably by the troops at Ft. hood.

Yeah, that always gets me. Any girl who went to junior high has been picked on. I know plenty of people who were picked on because of their race. It was horrible, but none of them ever went on to kill anyone.

Did the jerk think he's doing a good thing for fellow Muslims? How can this act possibly help them?

Don't these people face enough prejudice already over 9/11?

Well said.

I'm sending thoughts and prayers to those who were effected by this terrible tragedy.

Our thoughts are with the families and the fallen.:guilty:

Or, maybe he was a fan of Moby Dick ...

Crazy people do ALL kinds of things with no logical reason whatsoever.

Delusional people often twist religion to explain their own visions; most of the time it is not at all congruent with dogma.

FYI the narrator in Moby Dick was Ishmael.....

Cho Seung-Hui wrote 'Ismael Ax' on his arm in red ink before killing 32 people

The phrase comes from the Koran. The whole sentence is this "ismail ax au milieu" - which translates to "Ismail is the one in the center."
refering to how Abraham was to sacrifice his son ( Ismael in the Koran ) , he used an ax.

I am disgusted that this kind of posting is going on.

No one who does this kind of thing is a true _______ (fill in with the religion of your choice). They are just sick. Sick monsters.

Prejudice is alive and well here on the DIS.:sad2:

I'm quite aware of Melville's spelling, thank you. The spelling of Ismail varies depending on when and by whom it is written, but it is essentially the same name, and the same character in the same Biblical story. (Kind of like Ibrahim and Abraham.)

That phrase could not be in the Koran unless the Koran in question is translated to French, which by all accounts that I can find, Cho did not speak. Anyway, even in French it is corrupt, as the word "ax" does not exist in French -- or Arabic. An "axe" in French is "hache"; in transliterated Arabic it is "baltha." Wherever he got the phrase, it wasn't the Koran, at least not in that form.

PS: What all this really has to do with what happened at Ft. Hood I really don't know, except that you seem to be implying that no mass murderer is ever just crazy as long as there is some way to connect that person to Islam in some way. I strongly disagree. I think that the issue at Ft. Hood, (as it was at Va. Tech) was that the violence was the product of an unbalanced mind. Even if the delusions were religious in nature, they were still delusions.

Innocent people are dead and injured, and that is a tragedy all the way around. Let us not compound that tragedy by jumping to conclusions about faith-based motives. The man is apparently now in stable condition. There will be a trial, and justice will be served to the best of the Army's ability. My personal guess is that he was trying to commit "suicide by Cop" because he was depressed and had run out of options in terms of avoiding deployment. As a general rule, cases like that do not result in aquittal, because even though such persons lack perspective and the ability to reason logically, they still do know that shooting at another human being is wrong and will inevitably result in punishment of some kind.
