Hi all,
Just peaked at a 3 day Navigator and noticed they had a martini tasting, I was wondering if anyone went to this and if they could share their thoughts? Thanks

We did it on the Magic (i'm sure its similar)

You get 4 martinis (pretty decent size) And the rest deoends on your group. For us it was a drunkfest. Just because that is obviously why everyone was there. It was a good time, but had anyone gone actually wanting to learn something they would have been sorely disappointed. But i could see the head guy could have just as easily went the "educational" route. He tried at the beginning but then accepted that this one was more about fun then anything else.

I would do it again though.

jenkh, a bit OT but...have you checked out Martini Wednesdays at Hey Lucy (King St West)? Used to be cheap and very yummy indeed - I believe DH and I worked our way through pretty much the whole Martini menu over two Wednesday nights... Not quite a drunkfest, but certainly pretty merry gatherings... :goodvibes

After each drink he would ask "Still sober?" we'd scream no, and then the next martini would be brought out. LOL

He also awarded full size martinis to those who could answer some martini history type questions. It was a lot of fun, we were lucky it was an energetic group of people. We had some just turned 21's too.

One note - don't book it literally before dinner on formal night. Getting into a gown after that tasting took a lot of skill :rotfl2:

We did both the martini and the tequila tastings on the repo last August and had a blast. One of the bartenders you really couldn't understand that well, but that was okay we still had fun. Each tasting has 4 or 5 different drinks, good size ones too. It's a good way to sample different things.

Forgot to take the pic before I dove in to the blue one. I don't even remember what it was, but it was good.

We started out with a classic martini (vodka and gin). They told us to save some of it and they turned it into a dirty martini (classic with olive juice added...yuck). We then had the blue one followed by the Washington Apple (red). The final and best was the Chocotini.

We did this in February on the Magic. You won't know when it is until you get your Navigator and then you call Guest Services to book.

Our 4 Martinis were:

Classic - Gin with olives (DH drank mine as I only do vodka) :)

Appletini

Pomegranite martini

Chocolatini

It was lots of fun!

I've done this 3 times, and all have been great. The martinis vary - I think by the whim of the bartender doing the session. On the Magic it seems they will do it on two sea days. On my last trip, I went to both sessions. At the end of the first one I was talking to the CM who did it and she indicate they were still deciding which martinis to do the next session. The don't repeat on the same cruise.

It does seem like each session has one traditional martini - either gin or vodka, then 3 flavored vodka martinis. All have been very good!

The cost is $15.00. And it is definitely enough that you can feel the alcohol!

I am so doing this! I'm going to sign up twice!

We did the Martni tasting on the Magic last May. If you like martinis, you will have a blast, and you'll walk - I mean stagger -out feeling great!

The group is a lot of fun, and it's definitely worth $15. We went at the last minute, and they were happy to let us in.

I had a good time, but I made sure I ate a little before I went and I don't think I finished any of the martinis, as I didn't want to be falling over (which I would have been). They're little, but they pack a punch! I did come home with the pomegranate recipe, which I've made and they're a big hit.

This sounds like a lot of fun!! It is definately something we are planning on doing. We have done the wine tasting before and loved it.

Any body try any of the other tastings? beer, wine or tequlia?

I am really looking forward to the martini one now, thanks for the ace pictures, I dont think I have ever even tasted martini, Im so excited!!:lmao:

if I wanted to do the martini tasting but my dh doesn't can he just come along but not drink since he didn't pay??
