She will be the narr. during the time we vist Epcot. Can anyone thats seen her at the CP tell us if they enjoyed her. As well as how she is a celerbity?

Thanks

I had the priviledge of seeing Marlee Matlin a few years ago and it was one of the best CP performances I have ever seen. Marlee does the narration in American Sign Language and her interpreter "voices" what she is signing. I found I was listening with both my ears and with my eyes. Now how is she a celebrity? Marlee Matlin won the Academy Award back in the late 80's for " Children of a lesser God" She has the distinction of being the first deaf actor to win an Oscar as well as being ( I think this is correct...) one of the youngest women to ever win the award. I believe she was only 21 when she won. She has since gone on to appear in many TV shows and is an advocate for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing.

She is also a regular on West Wing! I got to see her do the CP a couple years ago, it was wonderful. The whole experience is just amazing! :goodvibes

Good question. I would aslo like too know, who and dates of narriators for candlelight prossesion. thanks

For those who don't want to click another link, here ya go:

2005 Schedule of Narrators:

Rita Moreno Nov 25-27
Phil Donahue Nov 28-30
Haley Joel Osment Dec 1-3
Cicely Tyson Dec 4-6
Jim Caviezel Dec 7-9
Eartha Kitt Dec 10-12
Lou Diamond Phillips Dec 13-15
Harry Hamlin Dec 16-18
Marlee Matlin Dec 19-21
Gary Sinise Dec 22-27
Steven Curtis Chapman Dec 28-30

We'll have a choice of the first three narrators, although Haley Joel doesn't appeal to me. Can anyone who may have heard Rita or Phil previously make a suggestion of which we should choose?

Thanks for any help!
PJ

I've seen Marlee Matlin twice. Really an enjoyable experience. I'm sorry she won't be there during our trip this year. I'm planning to see Eartha Kitt this year....now to decide on a restaurant....we always did Norway before....I think we may have to switch to France since Norway isn't offered this year, and even if it was, I just don't care for Character meals.

I might get flamed for being insensitive, but I didn't "get" Marlee Matlin. 99% of the audience can hear and can't read sign language. My understanding is that the narrator speaks the part. But not so with Marlee Matlin - another guy speaks the story.

I might have been a little disappointed if I had purchased a CP dinner package and then got shorted with a non-speaking celebrity.

It's not what she says with her vocal cords, it is what she says with her Spirit.

Marlee Matlin is brilliant - I used to love that detective show she did with Mark Harmon, Reasonable Doubts.

As to her doing the processional, he interpreter is her long-time friend and they are so in tune it is uncanny. He's also very cute, LOL.

I'm actually thinking of making a special trip this year just to see it.

I love ASL, and I too get mesmerized by the whole spirit of the language!!

That being said, since I have met Marlee Maitlin, I am no fan of hers. So that alone spoils me for her performance, its just hard for me to get over how she reacted to the kids in a hearing impaired program we are a part of... I hope that she has 'grown' since that time we met...
